We purchased this LG dishwasher because we’ve always trusted the brand. Our home is full of LG products, and we were told this model was one of their high-standard, top-quality appliances. Unfortunately, it hasn’t lived up to those expectations. One of the main reasons we chose it was for its “quiet operation,” but it’s actually quite noisy, far from what we were promised. The first day it ran smoothly, but soon after, one of the racks started getting stuck when sliding in or out, which is disappointing for such an expensive product. The cleaning performance is decent, but the drying quality is average at best, leaving dishes damp even after a full cycle. We still love LG as a brand, but this particular model did not meet the quality, silence, or reliability we expected. It’s frustrating to invest in something marketed as premium and end up with a product that feels below LG’s usual standards.

Hi, Diego. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDPH7972S). We appreciate your loyalty and feedback. For the noise issue, ensure the dishwasher is leveled and the installation brackets are secure, as uneven setups can increase noise. Use the Smart Diagnosis feature in the LG ThinQ app to check for internal issues. For the stuck rack, inspect the track for debris or misalignment, and consider using food-safe lubricant on the rail guides. To improve drying, activate the Extra Dry and Night Dry options, especially for plastic items and heavily loaded cycles. I’m writing this as my 1.5 year old dishwasher is being repaired by geek squad as I type. It’s getting a new motherboard and a new drain pump. I’ve had it a year and a half and it’s already cooked. It was turning off in the middle of cycles and randomly turning on in the middle of the night. The interior lights would just go on whenever and stay on for hours with the door open. You need to keep the door open to minimize the smell of mildew after using it. We bought this to replace a 1 yr old whirlpool that had a door that rusted after 8 months. The overall quality of these appliances is horrendous. This LG has WiFi and I can’t image why anyone needs WiFi on a dishwasher. But I wouldn’t recommend this model.

This dishwasher is very disappointing. I read reviews of dishwashers before shopping and then was swayed by the sleek, smoothly operating interior and the low noise level. LG seems to have a good reputation so I purchased LDTH797** (or LDPH797** --a top-level machine. From the very first load, I found utensils that were not clean, particularly knives. Then baking dishes with dried-on remnants that should have been easily removed. Now the latest are a set of Southern Living clear plastic tumblers that have looked great for 6 years, but now have scratch marks and cloudy spots all over them. (This, I just noticed in the last couple of washes. Some are worse than others, but I know they all looked good before I bought this dishwasher.) The attached photo of the tumbler shows the bumpy surface of the tumbler with cloudy areas, some on bumps and some on dimples, but definitely on the exterior. The scratches around the bottom are inside! Since pools of water gathered on inverted mugs, I had tried using high heat to dry, so I switched to Low Dry Boost when these marks appeared. It is frustrating to load the dishwasher. The top shallow rack is fairly useless since only the very lightly soiled will get clean. The upper rack for glassware does not have good spacing. Tumblers will fit and regualr coffee cups, but the narrow row that will hold juice glasses allows the glasses to fall over and hit each other. The middle row is so wide, only the widest items can safely be placed there. The lower rack is even worse. There are basically 3 sections. Plates and dishes fit in the outer two, but the middle is a wider spacing so anything put there is just sitting upside-down catching all the water spray and taking up more room. My previous dishwasher was a 13-yr-old Whirlpool; it cleaned very well and held everything steady and at an angle that allowed all to receive water spray. Unfortunately, Whirlpool did not get high ratings so I did not consider them again. I should have paid more attention to the rack design of the LG. Photos: bits of food splashed onto knife, upper rack inefficient spacing, cereal not removed from bowl, residue on glass, lower rack poor spacing of tines, cloudy marks on outside of tumber and scratches around inside of tumbler. No idea how this could happen, but was not there before Pros: very quiet, sleek exterior, racks slide smoothly Cons: Food left on some items then dried on by high heat. Water pools on the bottom of inverted cups and mugs.

Hi, there. Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback with us. We understand your concern about your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDPH7972S) model, which hasn't been ideal. We strive to provide high-quality products exceeding our customers' needs and expectations. Regarding the leftover food on utensils and dishes, one troubleshooting step we recommend is to check if the spray arms are properly rotating and if the nozzles are free from any blockages. Food debris can sometimes accumulate, affecting the water flow and cleaning efficiency. Also, load the dishwasher properly, ensuring enough space between items for the water to reach all surfaces—especially with thicker or larger items, which could hinder cleaning in certain spots. For more information, visit https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dishwasher-not-cleaning--20151094745547. As for the cloudy marks and scratches on your tumblers, these could potentially be related to the drying cycle or detergent usage. If you're using a high-heat drying setting, it may cause more build-up on certain plastics. Switching to a lower-heat dry option is a great step. We also recommend using a rinse aid, which can help reduce spots and film buildup on glassware and plastic items. We’d love to work with you directly to troubleshoot and find a resolution. Please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport, and our team will be happy to assist with more personalized guidance. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we’re here to help ensure your dishwasher performs optimally. ^Juvy <img src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/stratos-logos/logos/LG.png" alt="LG" title="LG" style="display: block !important; margin-top: 2em !important; border: 1px solid #ccc !important; padding: 2px !important; background-color: white !important;" />

It looks great , features are nice and it’s very quiet but after about a little over year a later the power was dying and the buttons started flashing a lot. Tech cool features but ended up being an issue or worthless. One the top button was a pain, hard to see with our counter, And it being LED. And when it would run at night it seemed like dishes didn’t dry well. Luckily we had the extended warranty. The main board seemed to get over heated or haywire . We had the geek squad try to replace parts three times but they said the design seems to be flawed and there was a recalled on this model for the board. So we had to get a full replacement and with a brand that was well known. The two options highly Recommend were Kitchenaid or Bosch. So basic is better and a brand who knows how to build a good reliable dishwasher seems more important than flashy high tech ones.

Hello there, GayleM. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand your situation with the LG LDTH7972S Top Control Dishwasher. While it’s great to hear that you enjoyed the quiet operation and overall design, we also understand the issue that you’ve experienced with the power issues and flashing buttons.
For future reference, if you notice any similar issues with your unit, we recommend checking whether the power supply to the dishwasher is stable and that the connections are secure. Sometimes, power fluctuations can affect the performance of sensitive components. Additionally, you might want to try running the dishwasher on a higher heat setting for drying or check if the rinse aid dispenser needs refilling, as this can help with the drying performance.

Still under warranty and still works but I can see problems coming. It randomly throws out error codes while running but finishes the cycle without an issue. Interior light turns itself on and off randomly. No doubt needs a replacement control board and this is where the real issue is. LG support is simply awful. They will do just about anything to avoid sending a service technician out. They wanted me to send them a video of the dishwasher running to assess the problem. I'm not going to sit in front of my dishwasher for two hours filming it running. That's ridiculous. When it no longer works, which I'm sure is coming, we will replace it with a Bosch. I will say it does a great job cleaning dishes. It just doesn't seem as though it will be very reliable.

We bought this machine one month ago, 01/22/2025 and waited one week for delivery. This machine worked great for four days. The middle rack slides were never smooth and on the forth use, the slides locked up, not allowing the door to close. "So what does the dish washer do??????" Nothing! I told the repair person, on the phone, that they should sent new slides with the repairman. They sent roller brackets. The repairman went to order the rack slides, but now they are on back order. We have a nice looking new dish washer that doesn't work.

Disappointed at the quality of the top rack. Purchased and returned twice due to the bearings locking up. The second unit started leaking water for some reason likey gasket or installation related. LG is great for some products but my luck didn't give a good impression on dishwashers. Cleaned well and liked the features but can't have it do the basic functions like not leak or pull the top rack out

Hi there, Chiller. We understand your inquiry about the LG 24″ Top-Control Smart Built-In Dishwasher with QuadWash Pro and 3rd Rack (model LDPH7972S). Thank you for sharing your experience with the top rack bearings locking up and the subsequent leak—you deserve a dishwasher that works flawlessly, and we’re here to help.
To address the top-rack movement, please try removing the 3rd rack and inspecting each roller wheel assembly for any debris or misalignment. Gently wipe the rollers and rail tracks with a soft, damp cloth, then reinsert the rack to ensure smooth gliding—this often restores proper function without needing a full replacement.
For the leak issue, make sure the dishwasher is perfectly level and the door gasket is clean and undamaged. Place a level inside the tub along the front and side walls; if it’s off, adjust the leveling feet until water poured into the bottom pools centrally. Next, inspect the door seal for any residue or tears—clean gently with mild soap and water so the gasket seats tightly against the tub.

Hi, William. Thank you for reaching out about your LG Dishwasher (LDTH7972D) model. We appreciate you sharing the details of what’s happening with the blinking lights and startup issues.
A helpful first step is to perform a hard reset: turn off the dishwasher, unplug it (or switch off the circuit breaker), wait about 5 minutes, then power it back on. This can clear error codes and restore normal operation. If the lights continue to blink, it may indicate a control board or door latch issue. Avoid this dishwasher!! I've only had it for six weeks and had to have it serviced already. The middle drawer was replaced... still doesn't work. It says it can sanitize, but so far the light has never come on. Repairman said it's because the water isn't hot enough from the hot water tank to sanitize. This makes no sense. We bought it for the sanitize feature because we have a new baby in the family and wanted to use that specific feature for baby bottles. Doesn't dry the bottom of coffee cups or bowls, even when using the night dry feature. Makes very loud noise when water enters the washer. Repairman said that's normal. Water gets trapped under the door during washing and doesn't dry. I'm afraid this will cause rusting. I am seriously considering returning it to store. Very disappointed in this product.

Hello there, BrianDC. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand that the LG Dishwasher (LDPH7972S) didn't meet your expectations. We understand your inquiry regarding the sanitization feature, the drying performance, and the noise level. Your feedback is important, and we'd like to assist you further.
Regarding the sanitization feature, the dishwasher typically requires a certain water temperature to activate the sanitize cycle. While the dishwasher does heat water, ensuring your home's hot water supply is adequately heated can contribute to optimal performance. For drying, utilizing rinse aid and selecting the appropriate drying cycles can often improve results.

The rack finishing on this machine vs the Bosch feels much better; the glide and adjustment mechanisms are more fluid and substantial, but our dishes do not come out clean or dry. They aren't even very dirty and we don't pre-clean them. We also have mostly glass and ceramic and very few plastics. We've dried different liquids, pods, and drying products with little improvement. I should have believed the bad reviews.

Hi, Catherine. We appreciate you sharing your experience with the LG Dishwasher (LDPH7972S) model. While we’re glad to hear the rack design met your expectations, we understand your cocnern about the cleaning and drying performance hasn’t lived up to the mark. We really aim to create products that not only meet but exceed what our customers expect.
To help improve things a bit, you might want to try a couple of simple tips: if you haven’t already, go ahead and select the High Temp + Extra Dry option. Also, make sure the water coming into the dishwasher is at least 120°F when you start the cycle. Proper loading is key too—try not to overcrowd it and ensure nothing’s blocking those spray arms or detergent dispenser. And don’t forget about rinse aid; it’s super important for drying, even if you've experimented with different brands—our LG models really depend on it for that condensation drying effect.

Hi there! We understand your inquiry about your LG 24” Top Control Smart Built-In Dishwasher (Model LDTH7972D) and appreciate you letting us know how persistent rack rail issues have impacted your experience. Stability of your third rack is key for loading flexibility, so let’s try a quick troubleshooting step to ensure the rail and rollers are properly seated:
Troubleshooting Step:
• Re-seat and inspect the upper rack rollers and rail track:
Fully extend the upper rack and locate the two roller assemblies on each side.
Pop each roller off its track wheel and visually inspect for any plastic debris or misalignment.
Clean the track grooves with a soft cloth to remove buildup, then snap each roller back onto the rail—listen for an audible click to confirm it’s fully engaged.
Gently slide the rack in and out a few times to verify smooth, secure movement without lifting off the rails.

I had the same LG model two replaced two times. the first one, the door knob was not catching and the second one, the middle rack was not extending to the extent it is supposed to extend. I then concluded after these two experiences, the quality of this product is not reliable. Swimming to Kitchenaid.

We understand your concern about going through multiple replacements due to issues with the door latch and middle rack. Purchased with high hopes. Unfortunately, did not have good experience. Drying and cleaning were not to the mark. After 3 days, suddenly showed AE code and the whole kitchen floor was filled with water. For next 3 days, intermittent noise as if water was being drained. Felt very disappointed.

The dishwasher works fine, but it doesn’t dry the dishes at all. Even with the dry feature, it barely makes a difference. It can be quite noisy, so we added an extra layer of insulation to reduce the noise level.

Hello there, Stella. Thank you for sharing your experience with the LDTH7972S dishwasher. We understand the drying performance hasn’t met your expectations. While this model includes Dynamic Heat Dry™ for enhanced drying, performance can vary depending on the rinse aid usage, water temperature, and dish placement. We recommend making sure that rinse aid is always filled, as it plays a crucial role in drying, and selecting the Extra Dry or Night Dry option for improved results.
Regarding the noise, we appreciate your effort in adding insulation. The unit is designed for quiet operation, so if the sound seems unusually loud, it may be worth checking that the dishwasher is level and not in contact with surrounding cabinetry.
Please send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport so we can provide more tailored support and ensure your dishwasher is performing at its best. We’d love the opportunity to help further.
