    Amazing Audio and Mic Quality

The Logitech G Astro A20X Gaming headset is a multi-system headset, Xbox, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC/Mobile. First off, these Astros A20X feel very lightweight, unlike its bigger and much more expensive brother A50s. I have used the A50s and its multiple iterations and updates over the years. This pair of Astro A20X draws inspiration design from the G552 Lightspeed design almost to an identical match just with the ear cup casings squarer. The comfort band to the earcups and the mic boom design felt very similar. While this isn’t bad, the design makes the Astro experience very enjoyable while being very lightweight and doesn’t cause pressure points like the A50X quarter pad design. SOUND Sound is where this is different and amplifies the traditional Astro experience while leveraging the Logitech sound reproduction legacy. The A20X comes packed with 40mm bio-cellulose drivers that reproduce a much more detailed sound experience, that doesn’t feel or sound fake or artificially influence. The tones have a decent bass while the MIDS and HIGHS are clear straight out of the box. This I say puts it in line with other high-fidelity brands. I messed around with some profiles and tweaked my curves and the headset responded very positively. In COD6 and warzone, the sounds were very accurate in the sense I could pinpoint a shot in correct direction and hearing footsteps in the final circle were crucial for winning. The result from the sound tests I did across the PC and Xbox found that lower frequency sounds were accurately reproduced in the high-fidelity state with zero distortion. This included the bass which came across natural and not overpowering while still producing accurate tones thanks to its 39 Ohms impedance. MIC The Microphone really shined thanks to its omni directional microphone design. The frequency response ranged from 20Hz-20Khz, which in contrast is such a very broad range of detecting tones. Overall, in Discord and in game chats my friends said it sounded like I was in a studio as it was crystal clear and didn’t have any connection issues even when I walked outside to grab a box, they heard me, and I heard them. This speaks to the quality of the lightspeed wireless from Logitech built in through its USB Bluetooth 5.3 technology. Its just crystal clear and works. BATTERY LIFE The advertised battery life is 90 hours with zero RGB or 40 hours with RGB. I personally didn’t use the RGB, yet I did test the RGB in the app and was able to get the desired colors to match the rest of my RGB in keyboard mouse and PC. The battery life I tested over the 5 days was true to its word; I had over 60 hours of gaming and left them on overnight playing YouTube videos. The headset still had power and was ready to go, so the 90 hours life is accurate. Once I placed them on charge it was only a few hours later they were fully charged again. SWITCHING Device switching was pretty simple with the two system PLAYSYNC audio by just pressing the playsync button. The module for this process was straight forward and worked well. I didn’t have any de-syncing issues when I swapped between the Xbox and PC. Overall The Logitech G Astro A20X Gaming headset is a gamechanger in how it has combined some of the best features and elevated the ASTRO and Logitech experience by combining the lightspeed technology with the multi-use Astro experience. Although you only get two preset system switching ( one less than the Astro A50X) the cost savings and value from sound features make this a top tier choice for gamers looking for the best Audio experience available.

    Solid multi-input, flexible gaming headset

Logitech’s Astro A20 X is a versatile addition to Logitech’s Astro gaming headset lineup. These combine a great set of features together that blend the Astro DNA and Logitech’s clever engineering. When Logitech acquired the vaunted Astro gaming headset brand back in 2017, they bought into the console headset space where before they’d been mostly associated with PC gaming headsets. Ever since that time, Logitech has been bringing Astro branded headsets in closer alignment with the rest of their PC gaming headsets, while console manufacturers have been aligning their headsets closer to normal USB devices. The Astro A20 X is an update to the existing Astro A20 that brings dynamic lighting control, and probably the most inputs I’ve ever seen on a headset. The build quality of these headphones is pretty top notch. Like most Logitech devices of recent vintage, the plastics are creak free. These feel solid with fingerprint free plastics and soft touch materials all around. The headband is a little weird, with a lot of flexibility while also appearing to be 100% plastic. I’m not sure how this works, as I am always worried about plastic cracking, but again, these feel quite solid. The foam pads are generous and quite comfortable. You can wear these for hours in comfort. Button wise, there are a ton on this headset, but they all make sense. On the left ear, you have a power switch implemented as a flush slide to avoid accidental turn offs. A bluetooth input button exists below that, then a volume control. Below the volume is a microphone mute, and there is a red LED to let you know the mic is muted. On the very bottom is the USB-C port then the detachable flexible microphone. On the other ear, you have an input switch button and two quick equalizer buttons that swap between chat and game emphasis. Let’s talk through the connectivity. In the box you get a receiver which has two USB-C ports, and two switches for modes. This box is the lightspeed connector, and it along with the two USB-C cables lets you connect this headset to two USB inputs. I tested my PC, PS5 and switch consoles. Each worked flawlessly and I love having the ability to connect this two multiple devices wirelessly. Besides the lightspeed connector, the A20 X has bluetooth as well, so you can swap over to your phone and have a conversation on the headset as well. If that wasn’t enough, the USB-C port on the headset isn’t just for charging; yes, you can plug it in for a USB wired headset as well. This connectivity diversity makes this such as versatile headset for both home use (leave the lightspeed connector connected) and also for travel. You can take a USB-C to USB-C cable and connect up to your Nintendo Switch on the plane, and also use it for music via bluetooth without skipping a beat. The microphone’s ability to easily unplug and store away also is a nice touch. This reduces the moving parts of the headset and makes it easier to pack this in a bag without worrying about the microphone getting damaged. Speaking of the microphone, its quality is pretty decent. I did several recordings and even talked with a few friends (I haven’t done too much online gaming as of late, so just a couple calls). While it’s no Blue mic, it’s quality is above average. The software has multiple equalizers for the mic, so you can dial in a balance and effect that suits what you want to sound like. I preferred “broadcaster 2” on PC. I don’t believe these can translate to the consoles, but the default sound is still quite good. The software is accessible through Logitech's G Hub. This works with connected via the light speed receiver (with the switch on ‘PC’ for USB-1, or connected directly via USB-C). This is pretty flexible software and really lets you customize the headset. From lighting (which can be custom, or set to sync with Windows), to equalizers, the software lets you control the headset very thoroughly. Both mic and headset equalizers have 10 bands, and the software lets you dial in the exact frequency and gain at each both through a graph and digitally. Sharing equalizers is also possible, as they can be listed on the community site. The software has come a long way from its initial release and seems solid and stable. Hidden in the software under settings is a ‘Get an extra life’ link. In this section, Logitech explains how it wants your product to last a long time and to prevent ewaste it links to replacement parts and services (including recycling). From day one, logitech has an orderable battery replacement kit, as well just the battery itself if you already have the tools. I think this is a huge and laudable activity for Logitech, showing both a commitment to quality and replacement parts. Avoiding headset e-waste and building these to last long enough to need a battery replacement is amazing. Speaking of battery, the battery life is pretty good. Logitech rates it 40h with lighting on, and 90 without. While I didn’t spend 40h gaming, I found that with the lights on it’s not too bad. Logitech has a decently sized battery here, and the headset could easily last a work week for most people. Sound quality wise, the Logitech Astro A20 X sports 40mm drivers. These sound similar to other headsets from Logitech. I’ll say they seem more refined than other implementations though, able to solidly hit low notes without distortion. The volume on these seems lower than the peak volume I’d like, but they do get decently loud. Like most cans, they lack sound stage and airyness. This is certainly no audiophile level quality, but for a gaming headset with some music usage, they’re pretty good. Noise isolation though the thick padding is fairly effective, but these do not have noise cancelling, so your mileage may very using these in loud environments. Overall the A20 X is a great update and evolution to the Logitech Astro A20 series of headphones. These are flexible, well made, sport a decent battery, great software, a plethora of inputs and look pretty nice as well. If you’re looking for versatility and one headset to solve your PC, gaming, and calling needs, this is a great unit. Highly recommended.

Good sound quality, comfy, and durable

The A20X headset feels lightweight and comfortable on my head. The compact design sports a flexible detachable boom mic, RGB lighting on both cups, and multiple connectivity options. Wireless options include a Lightspeed USB dongle or Bluetooth. The headset can also be used tethered via USB. The headset is compatible with Xbox, Windows, Switch and PS5. It can also connect to mobile devices through Bluetooth. The ear cups feature a wireless connection button, Bluetooth button, volume rocker, power switch, mic mute button, and two user sound mode buttons. All buttons are easily findable and accessible during wear. The Lightspeed wireless USB dongle is larger than the typical small USB pluggable format. It plugs into a USB-A port on the device and has two separate USB-C output ports for Xbox/USB and PC/USB. Either port can be used for Switch or PS5. Status LEDs indicate which connectivity option is in use. The headset also works through Bluetooth, which I was able to easily connect to my PC using the cup mounted Bluetooth button. Both the dongle and Bluetooth have been reliable on console and PC with no noticeable latency nor loss of connectivity during gameplay. The headset can also be paired with multiple devices and quickly switched as needed. Sound quality on both Xbox Series X and a Windows gaming PC is great. The drivers have good clarity and volume. Bass is acceptably deep, and treble and mid are sharp and clear. Sounds are nicely isolated during gaming with distinct background and foreground separation that helps add to the overall immersive effect. Sound effects are accurately reproduced and sound realistic compared to real-world counterparts. Music sounds fantastic as well and can be enjoyed without compromise. There is no ANC but the cups block out a decent amount of environmental sound. However, if the environment is loud, it will bleed through. Mic quality is excellent. Remote parties say I sound clear and a voice recording playback confirmed this. My voice is clear, decipherable and has good volume. The detachable mic is flexible and has a red LED indicator that illuminates for visual confirmation when the mic is muted. Comfort is excellent for the most part. It is lightweight and never feels heavy or hot during wear. The soft foam padded cups mostly stay cool and have good breathability, but do get lukewarm occasionally. Never warm enough to be uncomfortable but warmer than the other areas of my head. The foam lined top headband is also comfortable and adjustable. I have a large round 7¾ hat size head and the headset fits me perfectly, even when wearing my thick or thin frame glasses with the headband at the default largest size. Battery life has been solid so far. I’ve been gaming off and on for several hours at a time over several days with the RGB enabled and haven’t had to recharge the headset yet. The headset recharges via USB-C when necessary. The G20X is a great midrange headset. It’s not quite as robust as its bigger sibling Pro X2 headset, but is a very nice and capable headset at a friendlier price point. It’s perfect for most home gaming needs and our household has had good success with Logitech Lightspeed G series headsets the past 5+ years. My daughter refuses to use any other brand or model after finding the “perfect” G series headset years ago. I’ve purchased it twice for her so far and it gets extremely heavy use every day. It almost never leaves her head when she's home but it has proven durable and worthy of the task. There may be some short-term early adopter pains because this headset is so new. For example, I mention the two mode buttons above in a generic manner because I have no clue what they do or whether they even work yet. There is zero online documentation available for this headset at the moment. Scanning the QR code inside the box currently returns a 404 page not found error. The headset also won’t connect to the G-Hub application because the software doesn’t detect the headset when I plug it in. I am unable to find any additional support options or software for this specific headset, but that should obviously change after the official rollout. Aside from the currently limited support options, I have no complaints with this headset and I like that it can connect to any of my devices. I’m accustomed to being forced to choose specific headsets for Xbox or PS5. It's great to have one that can seamlessly switch between the two consoles.
