A: Yes, this camera is compatible with most vehicles.
Q: Does this backup camera have parking assist lines?
A: Yes, this camera has parking assist lines that can be turned on or off.
Q: What is "defeatable" parking assist?
A: "defeatable" parking assist means that you can turn off the colored lines which the system generates to "assist" you when parking. One set gives some indication of how close an object may be behind you. Another set indicates where your vehicle is going, and will dynamically move (curve) to show the effect of the driver turning the steering wheel. May take some practice to get used to what they are actually telling you and how fast they react. From product instruction sheet: "NOTE: The camera comes with the parking assist lines and a normal image view active. If you want to remove the parking lines or change the image to reverse image, follow the steps below: A) Disconnect power to the camera B) Cut the WHITE loop to remove the parking assist lines, isolate and tape the wires C) Cut the BLUE loop to reverse the image, isolate and tape the wires D) Reconnect power to the camera. If the parking assist lines are wanted or the image needs to go back to normal, just follow the steps above and reconnect the wires" Because this is not a simple on-off switch, I suggest you make sure you really want these features changed before you decide to snip. Check to see if the video display unit can generate it's own lines. Some radios, for example, let you set your own lines or reverse the image using the radio, in which case you may not need the camera features. You probably need to experiment with the screen image before you decide you need to "reverse" it. See how the camera responds when someone walks behind your car (say from the passenger side towards the driver's side. Does the display show the person moving the proper direction? If not, then it needs to be reversed. I suggest you also check how fast the camera system responds when something (like a kid) enters you field of view (also known as the danger zone). If the display doesn't respond until the kid, ball, or dog is actually halfway across the car (or never shows on the display at all) then you have an idea of how reliable the system is. In general, the further away the person/object is - say on the other side of the lane at Walmart, the better the system will be at showing them. The kid running on your side of the lane, immediately behind your row of cars, may not show in the screen until too late. So even with one of these back-up cameras, you still need to be careful, and start slowly, especially until you get a good feel for how it actually works.

I have used many cameras at night but this one is one of the worst. The video during daylight hours is perfect though. I mounted it in the factory spot but that didn't help.
