First off, the game is pretty tough. It's a faster action souls-like game which means managing your stamina (ki) and quick reflexes are key to advancing. The game now allows you to freely switch between Samurai mode (similar to Nioh and Nioh 2 play style) and Ninja mode (quicker movement and allows use of ninjutsu) to give you more combat options. Nioh 3 has a new 'open field' design which opens up exploration. Between the cutely rotund scampusses to follow to masters to defeat and learn a new technique from, there will be something for you to stumble into. The story takes place during different time periods, each with their own open field and missions to complete. Like the other Nioh games, you don't have to go at it alone as many players set up 'benevolent graves' to allow their ghost to help you, or you can summon a friend or random player to play with you. Between battles, exploration and loot, this game satisfies. One small tip, there's a lot of settings you can customize to make it more accessible with some good quality of life improvements such as auto-pick up for loot and adding more quick slots for your magic or items.

I will try to keep this short. This is essentially Team Ninja's attempt at giving their Nioh franchise the "Elden Ring" treatment. I'd say it was a pretty good attempt, but it still has a lot of the flaws that plagued the past releases. For example, the story and world. Storytelling still sucks and level design is just kind of there. Having said that, I still had a blast with the game. The combat here is without a doubt the main highlight like the past iterations. If there's one thing Team Ninja always gets right, it's definitely combat. You want a fun and challenging action game? Then look no further.

Great game! I never really been big on the nioh series because of the repetitive level design, but this installment with the added open world and excellent combat, it has been a blast to play.

The third installment of the Nioh franchise is the best yet. Gameplay is improved from the sequel, whichbwas even better than the first. The dual ninja/samurai styles are intuitive and adds a great deal of depth to gameplay. The story is also greatly improved from Nioh 2, which sacrificed story telling in favor of custom character building. As a big Nioh fan, this third installment is truly the best of all worlds for the franchise.

New to the Nioh series. The last demo caught my attention and so I picked up the steel case edition. The edition itself is good being it’s the same price as the standard game packaging. The DLC with it isn’t anything exciting but I have been thoroughly enjoying the game. The boss battles are hard and I’ve played all the Dark Souls/Bloodborne type games. If you aren’t familiar with Nioh, my opinion is that there’s a learning curve to it. There’s a lot to this game and its mechanics and options. Once you start getting those down, the game overall becomes easier and more fun. If you are worried about the bosses being hard, you have the option to summon an online player for help - had to do that on a couple myself. Overall challenge is pretty high but not as high as previous Nioh games it seems.

Excellent 3rd edition of this great series. Open world, optional multiplayer and time travel are solid features for a game like this.

Delivers and even expands on the great things of the previous two games. If you liked the first two you will fully enjoy this iteration.

As has become so standard with buying games from Best Buy, this was sent in a thin paper envelope with zero protection to be repeatedly crushed by heavy packages in transit. Naturally, the game arrived in horrific condition. I can’t remember the last time Best Buy shipped me a game with any care taken at all. It’s a shame, because these editions are sold out and they don’t keep any for replacements.

An incredible follow up to the best souslike on the market, Nioh 2. The new systems add an additional layer of depth to combat, and the open world is a great addition to the level design. Exploration is constantly rewarding the player, making it fun to explore every part of the map. Well worth the day one purchase.
