Customer Ratings & Reviews

Paper mario is one of the franchises best spin-off titles that mario has to offer. Of all the paper mario games The thousand year door is the most acclaimed title. I personally think this is exaggerated especially now. While the game is great, it gets very repetitive fast and you might play it obsessively for a while and then fall off hard until you remember that you havent finished it yet. The characters are great but the story is alright. This remake makes the original better, but offers little more than convenience to play on modern systems. Overall it is not my favorite paper mario, but a fun game overall.

What an amazing remaster/remake for this 20 year old game! I've always been one who usually passes on these because; A) There often is very little difference from the original version or B) It's different than the original, but a whole host of new bugs are introduced and/or poor optimization (Silent Hill HD Collection comes to mind). Not only does this remaster enhance the original with quality-of-improvements and graphics that make it look modern, but it's close enough to the original in "feel" and color palette that there were occasions I'd forget I wasn't on the GameCube! This was and still is my favorite of the "Mario RPG" sub genre, and I'm happy it'll live on and be rediscovered by younger people. If anything, I'm dismayed that it took Nintendo this long, and so late in the Switch's life cycle. Get it! Now!

Excellent game - whether you played the original or if this is your first time playing Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, this game is fantastic! This remake looks and feels great to play. Excellent for all ages - funny moments that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

So far has surpassed all of my expectations!!!!!!!

Great writing, engaging gameplay, the side quests are actually fun to do and the partner characters are don't bring down the good mood. Glad I was able to get this now when I couldn't years ago.

This is a game for the ages. Absolute win! The levels of nostalgia you will reach from playing this game will leave feeling like a winner. Completely immersed myself in the story of these characters.

[Employee of bestbuy] I have loved this game since it was on the gamecube. It feels like I am living my childhood with updated graphics and making portable feels even more wonderful than before.

Great gameplay, great story. Havent beaten it yet. Planning to play it again.

Original game was fantastic and this remaster makes it even better!

I played this game so many times in my childhood and replaying it with new graphics and soundtrack is so refreshing. And the way they improved chapter 4 and fast traveling is great too. Forsure this is how remasters should be done!

One of the greatest Nintendo RPG's ever made. This game represents some of the most creative and most MASTERFUL character and level design ever made. Music is top notch, as anyone who played the GameCube original can testify. Remixed tracks are excellent as well, and if you'd rather stick to the old OST, you can toggle it on as well! 10/10 game, can't recommend enough.

I love this game! It looks, runs, and feels great on my OLED switch. I have played through a couple times since I bought it - one of the best entries on the Paper Mario series.

I’ve been playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on the Nintendo Switch and it’s been a fantastic experience. The game has a unique paper-style art design and a fun story that keeps things interesting throughout the adventure. The turn-based combat system is simple to learn but still engaging, especially with the timing mechanics during battles. I also enjoy exploring the different areas and meeting the quirky characters along the way. Overall, this is a great RPG for both longtime fans and players who are trying the game for the first time on the Switch. Pros: Charming art style, fun turn-based combat, memorable characters Cons: Some backtracking during the story

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on Switch has all the same charm as the original but with updated graphics and some updated content and mechanics. It's fantastic if you're an old fan or totally new to the franchise.

A fantastic remake of the best Mario RPG game. The new visuals are lovely and the soundtrack has some really great remixes along with new songs. Definitely give it try.

fast shipping, great game, well packaged. Arrived in time for me to enjoy playing it all weekend. Game is just as good as I remembered it, and some neat features like back sprites for the partners were a nice surprise.

enjoyed this game it was so much fun to play with my boyfriend. I had a blast with it.

Masterful recreation of a masterpiece game. Thousand Year Door is an absolute gem that is one of the more unique and creative games within the entire super mario IP. Fun RPG, great soundtrack, a fun time overall.

The improved visuals and the fact this is easier to get ahold of now (compared to the OG GC release) are reasons to celebrate this Switch release, even if 60 fps would have made this release that much better.

A fantastic HD remaster of one of my all-time favorite GameCube games. Accessible on a modern gaming console and making it portable to boot is just icing on the cake.
