I had a Philips Norelco (QRG3360) for close to 8 years. For the past 5.5 years, I used it on a monthly basis to give myself a buzz cut. I was perfectly happy with it, but in the past 6-9 months the battery started to give way, and finally completely gave up. After a good deal of research, I chose and purchased this Norelco 5000 just over a month ago. It seemed a great buy - and I was particularly happy being able to continue patronizing the Philips Norelco line, given my positive experience with my previous Norelco. Moreover, I expected the 5000 to last even longer, due to the Li-ion battery pack it has. First time I used it, I felt it left a bit of a bald spot on my scalp. I was disappointed, but put it down to my usage (perhaps I pressed down too hard?). I chose to give it another try. Second time I used it (just a week ago) - the experience was even worse. Couple of bald spots, and just overall a really hard time getting an even cut. I feel it's due to the fairly large gap in the comb attachment. When cutting around curves, its quite easy to for the blades to get too close to the hair through this gap. I see a similar review now on Amazon, so I know I'm not the only one who's faced this issue. I returned the Norelco to BestBuy today. I never return products, and pride myself on buying the best, and sticking with my purchases. So this really was a disappointing experience for me. Not sure where to go from here....I would still prefer to stick with the Norelco line, but this experience has got me wary.

Worked great when it worked. Tried to turn it on after a few months and nothing. Charge light won't even come on. Typical garbage electronics that are being produced these days. Too late to return.

Hi there,
Thank you for writing us a feedback about your Norelco Hair Trimmer. How unfortunate to hear that you are not a fan of the product, and it did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that when your device has not been used for a longer period of time, it is required that you fully charge it for 16 hours. We also highly recommend reading the user manual once again to learn about how you can maximize the use of the device.
Should you need some further assistance from us, please feel free to get in touch via Facebook (@Philips) or Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further.

Do not buy this product, I was hoping this would help me during self cut my hair. But it is a total failure. And bestbuy does not give enough time to even return this product. Now I'm stuck with a product that I will not be using after paying more than $50 for it.

Bought it to cut my sideburns close to the skin. Don't expect it to do this. It won't, and I didn't bother to take my receipt. Shame on me

Hi, thank you for taking your time to leave this review. We are very sorry to read about your unsatisfactory experience with our trimmer, and we would like to see how we can help. May we suggest checking if the comb of your trimmer is attached correctly, and if you are using the correct attachment? Facial hair is usually stiffer than scalp hair. Hence, the beard attachment is designed and tested only for beards. The cutting element and comb of a beard trimmer are usually smaller than that of a hair clipper. This allows you to easily reach in smaller areas, like under your nose.
Therefore, for an even trim, make sure you are using the correct attachment.
However, if this did not help, please consider reaching out to us via one of our social media channels. We’re available 24/7 on Facebook and
Twitter. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact
page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their
best to help you further.
Hope to speak to you soon!
