As mentioned from PS5 review. Since day one release been having amazing gaming experience although wish it were on PS5. Playing on PS4 PRO still looks and plays amazingly well. Preordered this game and happy with my purchase. Deluxe edition came with some small DLC goodies which you can download via codes. Capcom did an Awesome job with this game so far although different lore still good. Thank you Best Buy for this purchase.

Been a fan of the RE series since I was little, and this one is easily in my top 5! RE Village has great gameplay(and replay value), story, more enemy variety, puzzles, memorable characters and environments, and more. I'd recommend playing 7 first if you haven't, too!

Following up from the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Village sees Ethan Winters once again dragged into the depths of horror as newly formed family are torn away from him by outside forces, prompting him to explore a mysterious village whose dark past is greatly tied to the world of Resident Evil. From lycans, vampiric ghouls, and other monstrosities, the enemy variety will see players having to think smartly with their choices with the return of the weapon upgrade system seen in classics like RE4, as well as hunting for treasures to further enhance their arsenal. An excellent blend of horror and action that feels like a successor to Resident Evil 4, while expanding on the first-person style introduced in RE7, fans of the series will have a lot to enjoy, as well as a host of goodies to unlock for more replayability.

Story for this game is great and gameplay is perfect. I can not wait to see where they take the main line story next!

I'll start this review with the fact that I'm biased towards horror games. From the cheesy to the twisted and terrifying, I can't get enough. I'll admit, when I first saw the trailer for this game last year at the Playstation event, I watched it 30 times over analyzing every bit because I was so excited. And now that I've beat it twice, it is BETTER than I expected. Though I love the third person perspective in gaming, they make the first person work so well. Gunplay is fun and snappy. I love the variety in enemy types and the way you have to think on your feet to defeat some of them. I ADORE the return of a merchant and the upgradable gun system. It makes me feel like I'm making progress in the game and not just moving from one area to another. I love the lords (Lady Dimitrescu has my heart) and their environments. Each area feels unique and special (though I wish some lasted longer). And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bloodborne influence in the castle area. Without spoilers, I loved the story. It was gripping and engaging. It was so good that I could not stop playing once I started for the first time. It was well worth the loss of sleep. As the Youtuber DreamcastGuy put it, Resident Evil Village is an almost perfect horror game, and I cannot agree more. I could gush about how much I love this game for hours, but save yourself the time and just buy it. It's worth the pricetag, especially with the replay value and added mercenaries mode. Treat yourself to a great horror experience. You deserve it :)

Very fun game with parts of exploration, action, and some horror. Has a good mix of elements from other RE titles and new ones. With the optional areas, it has good replay value.

RE8 is technically a sequel to #7. However, #8 doesn’t have the horror focus. I didn’t find any part to be scary. This is a pure action game- FPS. It’s good at being an action game, but I missed the horror. There are a better variety of enemies than #7. There are some puzzles- but they are quite easy. Like most RE games there’s quite a bit of backtracking. There are several twists and turns that I didn’t see coming- that was probably the best part. Although the ending had some over the top components- I found it to be satisfying. It’s a short game- only took me 6.5 hours first time, 2nd time took me only 4.5 hours skipping most cutscenes. Length doesn’t seem to be worth the money. It does imply a sequel after the credits- but not with who you might think. Overall I’d recommend it if you like action/shooter games. But if you want horror, then it’s not going to fulfill that need. Didn’t really see a PS5 difference- not many opportunities for ray-tracing. But graphics in the castle were stunning. I didn’t think it was nearly as good as #7. I’d give it an 7/10 or 4/5.

4.5 stars Phenomenal, intense game-perhaps the Worthy successor to RE4!!! Great story, great graphics, music and gameplay. Shocking disturbing intro, and then-on Normal Difficulty-it gets a WEE bit too hard and unfair! As a gamer & worked on many games, Bravo to Capcom (also for free PS5 upgrade!!!-BOOO to Sony for no PS5 available-idiots!) since this game was my REASON for buying a PS5! Capcom saved me $600!! Never make a game That difficult at the beginning...or Sad/Shocking! Highly recommend for fans of RE4, and a Great deal!!!

One of the best entries in the RE franchise. I think this game covered it all, from supernatural horror to classic monster movie horror. You have werewolves, vampires, zombies. It really is a very diverse and fun game. The story is great and the protagonist’s journey/narrative is much more interesting than previous main characters. My only issue was that it relied on too much action towards the end but there’s something in it for everyone.

very good game, fun to play, easy to pass but very entertaining history.

This game is an absolute masterpiece, and every RE fan owes it to themselves to play it. Amazing atmosphere, fantastic blending of action and horror, and a perfect mixture of horror aesthetics, Resident Evil: Village is a celebration of the franchise's history, while still carving its own path forward.

Outstanding in every way! Capcom took everything they did right getting back to basics in RE7 and just made it better. The inventory and upgrade system from RE4 has returned, and the post game infinite ammo unlocks with Challenge Points from RE5 and RE3 Remake are also back. The game maintains the cramped quarters, limited, resources, survival horror vibe through much of the stages, but then when it comes time for a boss fight it becomes an absurd over the top action movie. Resident Evil 8 plays like a greatest hits of the RE franchise. I didn't think there was much room to improve on the back to basics approach of RE7 (a much needed course correction at the time). It even manages to tie in the story to the history and lore of the franchise overall. Quite possibly the best Resident Evil game ever and a must buy for fans of the franchise. For longtime fans, I do recommend starting on 'Hardcore' instead of 'Standard' difficulty, because 'Standard' was a bit too easy for my taste.

This game is definitely a blend of the different elements from the past 25 years of the franchise. It's got horror, it's got action and it's got suspense. They balance each of these elements very well here which means they have something that all RE fans can enjoy. Highly recommended!!

I’ve been playing Resident Evil ever since it’s inception back in 1996 when it instantly became my all time favorite video game and then eventually my all time favorite video game series. It’s definitely been a wild and exciting ride throughout all these years with the franchise and Village, without a doubt, fits right in to that RE universe like a piece of the puzzle. I’ve completed the game 4 times already and I’m going back in for more, so it has a big replay-ability factor to it, at least for me personally, with all the different weapons/upgrades that can be purchased or unlocked and with all the trophies to be earned. The game looks beautiful and runs great on my base model Ps4, I haven’t had any issues with performance so far. I don’t want to spoil anything with the story or game, so, if you are a fan of the Resident Evil franchise or a fan of survival horror games in general then you definitely won’t want to miss out on this one!

Awesome. Don’t spoil anything for yourself and go in as blind as possible. It’s scary and packed with awesome white-knuckle action. Controls and looks great but the story is bonkers dumb (which is par for course in this franchise).

A new great resident evil as far as I'm concerned. This is a really fun entry in my favorite franchise and I think it's a good blend of horror and action, though it could use more true horror moments for added replayability.

Excellent game, graphics and in-game movement is fantastic. Storyline is worked in as a part 2 to biohazard. Addicting, with excellent scares worked into the story. If your a rez evil fan you won't be disappointed.

Capcom hits it out of the park again with Resident Evil Village. A fantastic game with horror and action in a fantastic blend. Still too early in the year to call a Game of the Year, but a strong contender.

A jewel from the saga. They really improved everything. The story, the horror, the riddles are very easy and it has some horror parts.
