This Ring 2K Battery Doorbell Camera has a solid, well-built construction. You can feel the quality the moment you take it out of the box. It feels sturdy and heavy, almost as if it is completely sealed and designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. This is the second-generation model, and like previous Ring doorbells, it includes many of the same features such as motion detection, two-way talk, night vision, and live view. Additional features like package alerts are supported but require a subscription. If you're upgrading from an older Ring device and already have a subscription, everything works seamlessly. Although this doorbell is advertised as battery-powered, it can also be hardwired, which is a nice bonus. Installation is extremely easy since all you need to do is mount the wall plate. Because it is battery-powered, it can be installed virtually anywhere, making it very versatile. I'm a long-time Ring user and consider myself one of the early adopters of the brand. Both the hardware and service have been very reliable over the years. I'm upgrading from a first-generation Ring Pro, and one issue Ring still hasn't fully addressed is retrofitting to existing doorbell mounting plates. While the installation itself is simple, if you're replacing a previous Ring Pro or a standard doorbell, you may need to find a workaround to mount the new wall plate. Even using Ring's wedge accessories, I ran into some challenges and had to improvise. However, if you're doing a fresh installation, the entire process can take as little as 10 minutes. Once installed, setup is straightforward. Simply add a new device in the Ring app and scan the QR code located behind the doorbell. If you have Ring Chimes like I do, they integrate easily. If you're already a Ring user, navigating the settings will feel very familiar. In my case, all I needed to do was adjust the motion detection zones. For new users, the app is very intuitive, with most features and settings clearly labeled and easy to find. My original Ring Pro Gen 1 already had great video quality, but this model takes it up another notch, especially when it comes to zoom capabilities. The camera supports up to 6x zoom, which is useful, although not particularly impressive at maximum zoom because image quality starts to degrade. You'll get better results when zooming in on objects that are relatively close rather than far away. Night vision performance is excellent, producing clear and easily visible images. Battery life has been outstanding. After about a week of use, the battery was still at 94%, averaging roughly 1% usage per day. Of course, battery life will vary depending on activity levels. In my case, very few people actually ring the doorbell, aside from package deliveries, although I do receive plenty of motion notifications. When the battery eventually needs charging, removing the doorbell from the wall plate is simple using the included release key inserted into the bottom of the unit. Charging is done through a USB-C port hidden behind a weatherproof cover on the back of the device. Keep in mind that a USB-C charging cable is not included. The two-way audio quality is also very good. Voices sounded clearer and slightly louder compared to my older Ring doorbell. The improvement isn't dramatic, but it is noticeable. Overall for the price, this is an excellent doorbell camera with solid build quality, good video and audio performance, and dependable service. The battery life is impressive, and the device is easy to install and use. Its battery-powered design makes it especially versatile for users without existing doorbell wiring. While hardwiring is supported, retrofitting an existing installation can sometimes be cumbersome. In the box, you get the Ring doorbell, wall plate, installation hardware, sticker, and manual.

Doorbell cameras are a neat item to have for peace of mind. I replaced my first gen doorbell camera with the newer model and it is a nice upgrade. While the battery isn’t replaceable in this model it is still a great device. My first impression of this device is simple you get a small box with the mounting bracket and screws, an orange removal tool and no charger or charging cable. The second gen camera is tall and narrower than the previous model. For the life of me I could not find the charging port, but sure enough it was there. It is hidden behind a black silicone plug. After some searching, I found that the silicone plug is a weatherproof cover for the camera. Once I pulled on that I found the charging port, it was very frustrating that there was no indicator of that or a sticker telling you to remove it. After this everything else is pretty straight forward. I charged the camera, set it up and mounted it. The big thing here seems to be AI, the camera does everything the other cameras do but this records in 2k resolution. I have tested this out and don’t really notice much of a change except the resolution increase and the added AI description in the app. There seems to be less ghosting or artifacts visible during recordings which I appreciate very much. This seems to be more of an incremental upgrade than anything else. I use the Ring Chime and I get audible notifications to activity in the desired areas of my home. When paired with Alexa devices this can be a robust and feature filled ecosystem. While there is definitely a whole of room for improvement it does work and works well. There are things to like and things that don’t present any value to me. What I like and appreciate is the increase in recording resolution. What I don’t care for is the annoying push in AI especially in this product. I will stick to my regular ring subscription I do not see the value in paying more for AI. Overall you get what you pay for a solid doorbell camera that alerts you when it matters most.

The speckled grey color blends with virtually any door. Optional Ring Protect Plans are reasonably priced. I already subscribe to a Ring monitoring plan, so there was no additional cost to add an extra camera. CONCLUSION: The new Ring Battery Doorbell is very easy to set up; no wiring is required & like other Ring cameras, operation is very intuitive. When a friend dropped by the house last week, Ring asked me to name him, so I did. When he came by again today, this new doorbell that I just installed called out his name & said he was at the rear door! I love how it recognizes & shares visitor identification with all of my other Ring cameras! It earns my highest recommendation.

TLDR: wide-angle 2K video, up to 6x Zoom, Two-Way Talk, Built-In Battery newest camera from Amazon brand Ring. Uses the same rechargeable battery as other Ring models; improved Ai features also. This is the newest model of the Ring doorbell camera and it now has 2K resolution, AI and a wider view from its lens camera system. The battery is easily removed to charge it up and it promises 60 days of use on a charge. It uses the same battery style as other Ring cameras so it is easy to just swap out a charged battery from another if the house has more than one. A supplied small plastic tool allows opening and removing the rechargeable battery. It is strictly battery operated. The lens allows 6x Enhanced Zoom to capture faces and close up details The night vision allows color video in semi darkness and crisp black and white in total darkness Speak to people seen on camera with a built in speaker and microphone on the camera outside while the user is literally anywhere with an internet connection on the phone Ring app. Of course the app and the camera needs a WiFi internet connection to operate properly. With the Ring app, a user can get Person, Package and Vehicle Alerts as seen and sensed by the camera. It also has motion sensor detection with fast notifications on the Ring app. The motion detection works similarly to the last version, but the descriptive AI is an added bonus. The built in AI sees the image, and then describes what it sees. It uses basics like person, pet, car, eventually an image of the scene is displayed. In use on the front door which faces our street, the camera supplies very clear and sharp color images in the day and very sharp and defined color night vision video at night. Sound is also clear and very understandable when tested with adults as well as children for our testing. From the Amazon website: “Combine this device with Alexa for hands-free home monitoring. When anyone triggers Ring’s built-in motion zones, your Echo device will illuminate and make an announcement, so you’ll always know when someone’s there. And if you have an Echo Show, you can also see, hear and speak to anyone captured on camera.” This function indeed works with our Echo Show 8” devices. It is functional within these temperature ranges: -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). It is also weather proof to Weather Resistant IP55 This model is a positive upgrade from Ring

I switched to new Ring doorbell from an older Kangaroo and the difference is like day and night. The video (live feed as well as recordings) at 1080P is sharp and crisp. Even the night videos are very good. The setup was super easy. I downloaded the ring mobile app and it walked me through the setup step by step. All steps were easy to follow and worked. I mounted the doorbool on my storm door in the battery mode with the help of screws that came with the door bell. I think it took me around 15 mins to set it up. The doorbell snaps on to the mount effortlessly. There is an included tool to remove the bell from the mount. Make sure you keep it safe as without it you won't be able to unmount the bell when it needs charging. In terms of the features, it has lots of them. For example, you can customize the alert zone, and all different settings via the mobile app. I have integrated it with my Alexa and the integration was also pretty straightforward. The battery is supposed to last 4-6 months after a single charge. This I am yet to test. I haven't bought any additional devices (like Chime) yet as I am using my phone to get the alerts when it rings. There is a 50$ annual subscription plan that gives you additional features like upto 180 days of video backup etc. Overall it is a perfect video home doorbell and the price seems to be right.

I’ve owned a number of Ring products over the years, and this is my second battery operated doorbell. The device itself is thicker, taller, and heavier than the one I got a couple years ago, though not as wide. The unit’s permanently installed battery charges via a USB-C cable (not included) via a port on the back, and it can last up to 120 days between charges, depending on usage and weather conditions. As it can be installed completely wire-free, you can place it anywhere including sheds, fence posts, and doors that don’t have existing doorbell wiring, provided it receives good WiFi signal. Just keep in mind you’ll need to take the doorbell down when the battery is depleted to charge it. It also has two wire terminal screws at the back so that you could hard wire it to your existing doorbell system to work with an in-home chime, and the doorbell transformer would keep the battery topped up in lieu of periodic charging, which I opted to do. To set it up, you’ll use the Ring mobile app and create or log into an account. Setup takes only a few minutes and linking your Ring and Amazon accounts gives you access to features like voice control and doorbell press alerts on your Alexa-enabled speakers. The doorbell releases from its wall mount when you insert the removal tool into the slot on the underside, although a flathead screwdriver would work just as well, so it isn’t meant to be a security measure against theft. In that event, you can report the unit stolen in the Ring app which would prevent it from being setup by another user. The doorbell comes with a 30-day free trial of a Ring Pro plan. This provides you with cloud storage of video and snapshot history for 180 days, emergency services response, smart alerts to categorize and reduce notifications based on what is being recorded, AI text descriptions and search, and more. Users that don’t have a subscription will only be able to bring up an on-demand live view from the doorbell to communicate and respond to events as they happen in real-time, and video footage will not be recorded or saved. The video quality is non-HDR retinal 2K at 1920 x 1920 pixels with 140° horizontal and vertical fields of view providing head-to-toe coverage. The wide field of view means that there aren’t any blind spots, so you can see if there are packages set on the ground below the doorbell as well as areas off to the sides. There is also 6x digital zoom during live view and playback. When viewing the camera’s feed in the app, images and video appear as a square and fisheye distortion is minimal. You can also customize the motion detection zones to exclude areas where motion may trigger nuisance alerts as well as limit the time of day and frequency of notifications. The quality of the video varies, and sometimes it’s really clear and other times it’s very blurry, even at different points in time within the same video clip or live view session. The speakers for the unit are located on the sides near the top of the device, which can play automatic greetings or warn folks that they are being recorded. There’s also a microphone, so you can engage in 2-way talk via the app with someone at the doorbell. The audio quality is generally decent and clear, though if your connection is weak, digital compression artifacts or delays may occur. The mic picks up voices and captures a bit of ambient noise as well. However, in some video recordings the audio would occasionally drop out, sometimes at the beginning, end, or randomly in the middle of the recording. When pressing the doorbell button, you’ll receive a push notification from the app and can also have any number of your Alexa speakers sound a “chime” and make an announcement. This version of the doorbell camera has black and white infrared night vision and is limited to 2.4 GHz WiFi connections. Nighttime images are detailed, clear, and bright, though can wash out objects close to the camera lens. Overall, the Ring Battery Doorbell (2026) is a very good, basic video camera doorbell. It has clear HD audio and video quality, as long as your WiFi signal is fast, strong, and consistent, but you’ll need a paid subscription if you want to be able to view recorded video history, alert SOS emergency responders automatically, or enable more advanced alerts. It’s quick and easy to upgrade your doorbell if you have pre-existing wiring, or add it as a new doorbell camera just about anywhere you can mount it. The hardwire charging option further simplifies things, as you'd never have to take it down to charge the battery. With Amazon integration, all your Alexa-enabled speakers can be used as chimes throughout your home, and with push notifications and 2-way communication, you’ll never miss a package or visitor at your door.

Great doorbell! I have a combiniation/hybrid system between the Ring ecosystem and the Nest system. They both are great systems in their own regard, but one place where this beats the other, is in the mount for removal and recharging of the bell cam. The nest uses a plate that can be pretty finicky, but this one, is a cinch. The mounting was simple. Two screws, and then snap it right on. Great! Already having the Ring ecosystem, adding the doorbell was also simple. Simply go to your devices, hit the blue "+" button, choose your product, name it, and you are good to go. The camera quality itself is great. Between the two systems, the Ring has slightly better digital zoom. As for motion detection, they are both very good. I do always move the motion detection to the lower end of the range on my battery products. End of the day, I really only care about mammals and package delivery. No need for it to go off when a bee flys by. The battery life has also been in line with the other system. I chose to mount this one on the garage door, where it wouldn't be constantly triggerd by passing cars and the battery has so far barely budged. End of the day, great product, whether you already have the Ring system or would like to use this as your base to build around.

As it stands, I have to give this a 5 out of 5, simply the grounds of seeing a recording of a delivery person, making a drop-off at my front door and the description said, "bloop, bloop, delivery driver tripped at the front door." I'm not being mean, but boy, oh, boy. That was hilarious. It told me what I was seeing. I love that. The box houses a simple reward of [The Ring Doorbell, unmounting key, mounting bracket, & a couple of mounting screws]. That's all you need. But if you have a smart speaker IE* Alexa speaker, plus your smartphone, you've got everything that you need to have a functional home notification system. Also, if you already have a Ring camera or cameras, this will integrate perfectly into your plan. It doesn't cost anything extra to add this. Installation took no time at all. Just 2 screws (ankers are optional, in most cases) and you're off and running. [ KEEP YOUR MOUNTING KEY SOMEPLACE SAFE & MEMORABLE]. You will need it to recharge your camera at least twice a mount. It could be more, depending on traffic and the settings that you've chosen. The older model has a charging port that is hidden behind a wall that needed to be unscrewed, but this model, has a type C port, right in back after you've unmounted the doorbell. The sound is clear and the latency is great. I could ramble on and on about this thing. I love when I get a product that I find to be 5-star rated. I hope this makes you as happy as it made me. Getcha one.

Initial Thoughts I will say that Ring has made good stuff for a long time. While their products may be predictable, they have also been reliable. I see this repeating that sentiment. My expectations I expect the Ring battery doorbell to be easy to install, easy to add to my current sub, and easy to use. What’s in the box? Out of the box you get the doorbell camera, a back plate mount, a tool for removing the camera from the mount, wall anchor/screws, and inserts along with the QR code that you need to set it up. Try it out First off, I will say this… I was embarrassed that it took me longer than I thought to find the USB-C charging port on the back of the camera. I figured, I’ve installed enough of these, I know how to do it without relying on the QR code… and I was wrong. Little did I know it was a rubber nub that I had to remove to expose the port. Other than that little hiccup, it was easy setting it up. The installation was easy as well, I ended up adding the doorbell to my back door. I couldn’t use the provided screws considering the type of wood I was installing it on, but other than that, no issues. The 2K really does provide a nice clear crisp video. The audio is great. Despite the fact that the camera offers a nice wide view, I wish that the hardware/software still gave you the option of panning. Thoughts I want to use this as a battery powered one since I don’t want to go through the hassle of adding wires to an area that doesn’t have existing housing. The only “annoying” part is taking off the doorbell completely to recharge it. The likes I like how easy the whole set up is. The new doorbell looks sleeker and the build quality feels significantly better. The dislikes I do not like the engineering behind the recharging. What’s one thing I would change? I wish that Ring created a type of wireless charging plate where the doorbell could be mounted to. This would still eliminate the need of wires, but wouldn’t have to remove to recharge.

This is not our first Ring Doorbell. We like them very much. It was very quick and easy to go from box to mounted and being used. Perhaps most of that was from having been there done that with previous Ring Doorbells and other wireless devices in the home.. But its pretty much, charge the device, put it on your WiFi network, mount it outside the doorway you wish to monitor and be alerted from, go through a few easy setup routines guided by the app you previously installed on your smartphone and you are in buisness. We are currently running this one in the battery only mode as my wires for the inside 1950's Westminster CHime Doorbells, broke off in the wall so for now, I am just being alerted by my iPhone. I will restring the wires later on in the year as right now I am on multiple restrictions following back surgery for a ruptured disk. You can enable several additional features if you sign up for a plan, but some of those are already included with a free 30 day trial from Ring. The quality of the images and videos are really great, and these days I wouldnt even think of opening my door without the ability to first see who....or what is on the other side!!!! I would have given this 5 stars but for such a nice device, instructions were not enclosed in my box, but the app is somewhat helpfull after you eventually find out what app to download.

The ring Battery Doorbell Retina 2K is a great go to doorbell for those who do not have a wired doorbell or do not know how to wire a new one. I love mine and the new A.I. features with the Addition of the yearly subscription is a great option. It recognized people, animals, vehicles, package deliveries etc. It’s nice to get notified and not have to check the camera when the Ring tells you exactly what it is. The neatest thing I’ve experienced with my ring during the test was a Quail on the wall staring at the camera…(see pic) the video is crazy, he hung out for 5 minutes while his mate watched nearby. The subscription opens up so many options, it’s crazy. The A.I. alone describing the alert is worth the price alone. I opted for yearly pass for multiple cameras. The day and night viewing quality is top notch. The 2K is more than sufficient. I have a different brand security camera that’s 4k that isn’t even as good as the ring. The available 6x zoom really brings things in focus. You are able to set zones up so you can drill down to an area you are most interested in and with a focused area this will cut down on false alarms. The quick response is all you need if you like the unit to speak on your behalf to visitors. You can also have a 2 way chat with visitors. The settings are too numerous to mention, but rest assure if it’s an option you want. It will be in there. I highly recommend the Ring to friends and Family.

I recently installed the Ring Battery Doorbell (Newest Model) in Speckled Grey, and I am extremely impressed with its performance. The Retinal 2K video quality is exceptionally sharp, making it easy to identify visitors, package deliveries, and activity around my front door. The wide-angle view provides excellent coverage, reducing blind spots and allowing me to see more of my entryway.

We recently purchased a new home and I left my old video doorbell at the old house. Darn the luck, time for new technology!!! Ring is the original video door bell and has been around for over a decade. I wanted a doorbell that was completely wireless. We're planning some home renovations and I didn't want to worry about where the doorbell would be positioned or be stuck to where ever the wires were currently. I was shocked at the weight of the doorbell. I assume most of this weight is due to the size of the battery, which is said to last between 2-6 months depending on conditions. Mine has been online for a week and is still at 97%. Overall construction was top notch and fit and finish is what you'd expect from the leader in video door bells. The initial charge took a few hours when hooked up to my 65W laptop charger. Setup was a breeze and I didn't experience any issues connecting to my IoT wireless network. I can't say that's been the same for other smart home products I've used before. Video quality is great and even in low light conditions it is able to capture high quality video. One nice feature is being able to setup different zones. Because of the wide viewing angle I'm able to create different zones for the front door, driveway and "everything". I can then adjust alerts based on what's captured in those views. The doorbell also features a two-way radio function to speak to whoever is at the door if you're unavailable. You can also listen in to the live feed if you want to see what's going on around your house. Apparently, the audio quality is good enough to incite a flinch and an eyeroll from my wife when she was out watering flowers on the front porch. Do with this what you want. One downside for me is that it doesn't natively integrate with Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit. I thought I'd be clever and use IFTTT to trigger automations, but it appears that isn't going to be simple. No big deal as I get alerts on my phone and I'll experiment more as I get time. Overall, I'm super pleased with the quality of the product and will be looking at other Ring security products for future needs.

I chose this Ring Battery Doorbell because I've had a great experience with the Ring ecosystem over the years. My home already has multiple Ring devices, including floodlight cameras, spotlight cameras, indoor cameras, and older Ring doorbells. I wanted to see whether the newest model offered meaningful improvements over my first generation Ring doorbell, especially in video quality and ease of use. The biggest upgrade is definitely the camera video quality and design. The 2K video is noticeably sharper, and the wide-angle view captures much more of the area around the front door. The head to toe view is especially useful for seeing visitors and packages left at the doorstep. The enhanced zoom is another nice addition, allowing you to identify details much more clearly than older models. Daytime and nighttime footage both look excellent, with crisp images and good overall clarity. The speckled gray color looks modern and blends nicely with most exterior finishes. It has a clean, premium appearance and doesn't stand out in an obvious way on the front of the house. Installation was straightforward. Mounting the backplate to a wooden door frame took only a few minutes, and the Ring app guided me through setup without any issues. Configuring motion zones, notification preferences, and device settings was simple and user-friendly. I was particularly impressed by how easy the setup process would be for someone who isn't very tech savvy. The built-in battery design is both a positive and a negative. On the plus side, removing the doorbell for charging is very easy using the included tool, and charging through USB C is convenient. However, unlike some older Ring models with removable batteries, you must remove the entire doorbell when it needs charging. That may be inconvenient for users who prefer swapping in a fully charged spare battery. There is another model Ring Plus that does that and comes with few additional features. Build quality feels solid and durable overall. The device feels well made, and the motion detection, alerts, two way audio, and live view features all work reliably. The integration with other ring devices and alexa products is seamless if you're already invested in the ecosystem. One thing worth noting is security. While older Ring doorbells could also be removed, this newer design can be detached very quickly if someone has the proper removal tool or with flat screwdriver. This likely won't be an issue for most users, but it's something to be aware of depending on your installation location. Overall, this is an excellent upgrade for existing Ring users and a strong option for anyone looking for a battery-powered video doorbell with outstanding image quality and easy setup. The improved video clarity, wider field of view, and simple installation make it a great value. The only drawbacks are the non-removable battery design and the ease with which the unit can be detached for charging. Even with those limitations, I would highly recommend it for its performance, reliability, and overall user experience.

Wasn’t going to buy another one of these doorbells, but while I was shopping I saw this one on sale and gave it a try, camera works great, very clear at night, and so far so good.

This second gen is great. I had the first gen and it was good. But definitely this is an upgrade....

So I just received my new Ring Battery Doorbell about a week ago and have been testing it out and comparing it to my older Rind camera. We had another Ring camera at our front door and had been wanting to install another camera at our back door, so this Ring doorbell camera came along at the perfect time. Over the years we have tested and tried several top-leading brand names for video doorbell cameras and the like, but Ring had us sold. After using the other Ring camera for several months and absolutely loving it, we were excited to try out this Ring Battery Doorbell. Unboxing Includes: * Ring Battery Doorbell * Installation Toolkit * Window Decal Sticker * User Documentation To get started, simply download the Ring app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android devices. Next if you don’t already have a Ring account, you will need to create an account and follow along with the instructions. Even though this is a battery-powered doorbell, you can actually hardwire it to your doorbell line. For our purpose we will be installing this at the backdoor. If you’re doing a hardwire install of this doorbell camera, be careful and make sure you know which line at the breaker box the doorbell is connected to. Turn that switch off at the breaker box and follow along with Ring’s in-app installation process which is super simple. Once I got everything installed and turned the power back on, I waited for the camera to properly boot up and get connected to the home network. This doorbell camera has some amazing features, such as Motion Detection, Retinal Vision 2K with wide-angle video and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom, and 2-way audio; which is amazing. You can clearly hear those on the other side of your door no matter whether you're away from home or not. That lets would-be intruders know that you’re watching them. As far as video, the quality of the 2k as well as the wide-angled field of view tops our other more expensive Ring doorbell camera. The older (and more expensive) Ring doorbell camera is nice, but doesn’t have the wide-angle view like this newer model. We’re very happy and pleased with this choice and you will be too.
