The sensor works with the Ring Alarm system, which has three modes: Disarmed, Home, and Away. When the system is in Disarmed mode, opening a door will not trigger the alarm. In Home and Away modes, the contact sensors are armed by default, meaning the alarm will sound if the door is opened. You can also customize which sensors are active in each mode through the Ring app. Additionally, in the Ring app you can toggle "Open Alerts" and "Closed Alerts" on or off for each individual sensor, so you can choose whether or not you receive push notifications every time the door opens or closes.
