Thus far the device is working correctly. Had a couple “issues” initially that have limited functionality for me ( at least the plans I had anyway). The software is hat comes with the drive only works partially with Apple iOS. I have a brand new Mac, but the item limits what I can do. I store Time Machine backups but can’t store anything else without partitioning. But my Mac recommends a minimum 1TB drive for backups… that’s the size of the drive I bought, can’t partition it. Love the small size (although it gets a bit warm when using) and would buy again or recommend to someone. Just a bigger capacity drive.

I really wanted to like this drive. The price was great, the capacity more than sufficient. It was physically smaller than I expected. However, I planned to use it as an external Steam Library. Caution: this drive gets _really_ hot. Some people think the T7 is just an overclocked T5. It was very fast, as I got the full 10gbps connection. Either way, for non-intense usage it is probably fine, but it was disconnecting intermittently for me under heavy usage. I ended up exchanging it for a different external SSD (WD_BLACK P50).

I bought the I Pad Mini 6 and attempted to use this external drive. When Is transfer data from IPad to T7 the gb used would double. Example, transferring 1 gb data from Mini 6 to T7 takes up 2gb on SSD. Works week on windows’s, not so well on my Mac though I didn’t format it. Overall for PC users 5 stars. Password doesn’t work with Ipad need the T7 touch to password protect.

I paid extra for a solid state drive because they are supposed to be so much faster. I'm not impressed. I bought it for speed, not for portability. Yes it's really small. But I don't find the usability any different than a corded external hard drive. I fact I think I prefer the corded versions for my home computer since they run cooler. But if you want a small portable drive, it'd be good for that I guess.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung T7 SSD and for your review. We value your feedback regarding the speed of your T7 SSD.
The maximum transfer speed that can be achieved by the T7 is 1,050 MB/s on a PC that supports USB 3.1 Gen2 and UASP Mode, but the speed may vary depending on your PC environment and the types of data being transferred.
As there are various factors that could affect speed, I would encourage you to call Samsung Customer Support if you need further assistance to troubleshoot your issue.

I currently use a T5 harddrive with my Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera. Saw the T7 came out and was stoked to get the newest version. Hooked it up and it didn't work. It won't record. Googled it and tons of people with same problem. I returned it and got a T5. I'm sure it will be good once they figure the compatibility issue out. For now, it is useless for me.

The drive is very small and solid. Does what's it's supposed to do. The 3 stars is for the software. The software is terrible and does not function properly on an M1/2 Macbook Pro. It also won't uninstall itself cleanly. Samsung should be ashamed about putting out garbage software.

I personally couldn't get it to work as an external OS for my mother's low-RAM, 8-year-old HD drive laptop, even after trying multiple cloning software programs (even using the Samsung-provided one). I could always get it to finish installing after 4-11 hours of cloning (depending on the software) but always had a boot issue.

(Mac Mini M2.) You should NOT need another computer, in a wholly different operating system, to make a "plug and play" device like this work. The Samsung T7 still gets 3 stars because it DOES work. The Samsung T7 LOST two stars because of the very un-holiday heartburn it caused me over several days. I bought two other high-speed cables to see if that might correct the problem. (Nope) I ended up moving this drive to a Windows box to see if it would do anything there at all, and -- prang! -- Windows recognized it. Once on the Windows PC, I was able to format it (FAT, not NTFS) and then move the damned T7 back to my Mac. I almost returned this thing, and I was NOT looking forward to arguing with Best Buy about it.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience with Samsung’s T7 SSD has fallen short of your expectations. Your feedback is very important to us and will be shared with our internal product team.
The maximum transfer speed that can be achieved by the T7 is 1,050MB/s on a PC that supports USB 3.2 Gen2, UASP mode, but the speed may vary depending on your PC environment and the types of data being transferred. Please look to the details below for possible causes (and solutions) if you think your T7 is under performing.
Scenario 1 (PC Environment)
Your PC's USB Type C Port must support USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) in order to fully utilize the speed of the T7. USB 3.0 Gen.1, USB 3.1 Gen 1. USB 3.2 Gen.1 are restricted to 5Gbs speeds and may be the bottleneck to the performance of your T7.
Scenario 2 (Cable)
Using other cables besides the enclosed cable that comes with the T7 may cause performance degradation due to the varying internal resistance and maximum allowable current of other cable types that does not come officially with the T7.
Scenario 3 (Dynamic Thermal Guard, DTG)
The T7 is designed to activate the DTG (Dynamic Thermal Guard) when the product reaches a its threshold temperature due to prolonged data transfers and usage. The smartly activated DTG function prevents the product from overheating and automatically slows down providing it a cool off period. The DTG technology enhances safety and reliability by preventing the product from reaching an excessively high temperature.
Should you need further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support directly so that we can better investigate your speed issue and assist you towards a resolution.
