I'm not normally one for musicals, but this one is timeless. It's got some great songs. My favorite scene is the barn raising. My sisters made me watch it was a boy, now I'll make my boys watch it!

This movie is fun and at times high energy. I have only liked a handful of musicals and this is one is the best. The colors are bright. The audio has the proper level of voice sound balanced with music so neither is too loud or too low to be enjoyable. Like others mentioned this movie could/would never be made today, unfortunately.

I have always enjoyed watching this Musical. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it was filmed mostly at the studio rather than on location and some of the sets are very obvious. The special features are well worth the purchase. The dancing is fantastic and Kane Powell and Howard Keel provide their usual superb singing voices.

we watch this every year - When the grandkids know were abot to watch it they all come running in. There are about 2 to 3 songs too many - but it is forgivable once you watch the barn raising sequence.

If you like those old-fashioned musical films that were filled with long song and dance numbers that featured amazing chorography, you should give this film a try. It's one of my favorites. The story humorously revolves around a family one seven brothers and the new bride of the eldest brother. Along the way she has to teach the farming family about cleanliness and manners while adapting to life away from the city, and then deal with the turmoil that arises when the family is turned away from the city where all of their love interests reside. Good acting, good songs, amazing dance routines.

Seven Brides For Seven Brothers is a classic musical in the grand tradition of big casts, big sets, big music, big drama, and big fun. Well worth a watch of this one if you like Oklahoma! or any of the other big musicals of the era. The product itself is one DVD in a super-flimsy plastic case. The wraparound refers to a disc 2, that is not included. This item is not the special edition/anniversary version with all of the special extras released for the 50th anniversary of the movie. It does have the usual commentary and such as bonus material, but not the "extra" extras of the special edition. Price is competitive with any of the major online shops.

Fantastic release of a classic on blueray which makes the film even more stunning then previous releases colors are all very vibrant and even with no flutter or noise and sound track was flawless. You have your choice of viewing film in 2.55 or flat in 1.77 with all of the special features previously released on dvd

Both the 2.55:1 wide release Cinemascope and the 1.85:1 flat version are included. Only the Cinemascope version has been restored. I had higher hopes for the overall look of the film. Some of the colors and grain structure seem wildly out of wack (most of this appears to be in the "on location" work, not so much in studio). I'm assuming the original negative for the film was in worse condition than desired to make it look pristine. The flat version looks good but not great. The remixed audio (5.1) sounds terrific (for the period) and the 2 channel for the flat version is fine. The film itself... well, classic 50s MGM. A great fun romp with terrific choreography by Michal Kidd.

This was one of my daughter's favorite movies when she was little. She has it on VHS, but her VHS player broke so she couldn't watch it anymore. She is 28 now and still loves it so I bought it for her for a birthday gift. I also got a second one for my niece's 10th birthday. She has never seen it and as soon as she watched it she loved it. She said it is definitely in her list of top 3 movies. Wonderful to see a classic movie loved by many generations.

Light hearted film with very talented cast. Would be considered sexist by modern audience, but the spirit of the film is playful and not serious...watch it with a fun perspective and you'll love it. I typically do not like musicals, but this film is hilarious and entertaining, great for family movie night.
