This has been great as a crane operator. I can set it low and still maintain attention to hear and see commands and also I can hear my weather alarms from my phone. I like being able to hear the world around me but in noisy situations the headphone might lack some punch. Accidentally stepped in shower with them for a brief moment because I forgot. No probs. I really like that it has ruggedness with flexibility. Charging can be a tad slow but ok.

I enjoy the fit and the comfort of these headphones, but I’m not convinced that their “7th generation bone conduction technology” is any good at all. In fact, after using several pairs of similar headphones, I’m more and more convinced that “bone conduction” is mostly a marketing term that was made up in order to sell a different style of headphones. The sound quality is nowhere near as good as earbuds, or over the ear headphones. Audio sounds flat and there is nearly no bass at all. The 3 built in equalizer options (Vocal Booster Mode, Earplug Mode, and Standard Mode) are not particularly helpful. But, despite bone conduction being a bit of a gimmick, the innovative off-ear fit does make them worthwhile for situations when the user wants to remain aware of ambient / surrounding noise. Instead of sounding best when pressing on the bones of the upper jaw, the audio quality (and volume) most improves as you move the ear pieces closer to the ear canal (even without physical contact). When the volume is low, audio cannot be heard by those around you, but when the volume reaches 75%, noise is noticeable to those not wearing the headset. And, at 85% the vibrations create an uncomfortable tingling sensation. The 6 hour battery life is sufficient and the USB-C charging port is a drastic improvement over Micro USB. The comfort and fit is where the AfterShokz shine. They hover over the back of the neck, but manage to stay in place through running, jumping, and even lying down during workouts. They can also be worn comfortably with glasses and hats. ...Perhaps one of the best features is their ability to connect with two devices simultaneously. While working from home (Due to COVID-19 restrictions) I have been able to have them connected to my laptop and also to my phone - while the off ear design still allows me to hear when my Family needs to communicate with me. (No more having to pull out my earbuds every time I think somebody needs to ask me a question.) The location of the volume controls would be more convenient if they were on top of the right earpiece, but pressing the multi-use / track change button is much more comfortable that wireless Bluetooth earbuds (which have you press an earbud deep into your ear in order to change tracks or answer calls). If audio quality is your primary focus, do not purchase these headphones. If you love bass, these headphones are not for you. If you like your music loud, these headphones will be a huge disappointment. But, if you are primarily looking for convenient headphones with a comfortable fit that allow for situational awareness, these headphones will meet your needs.

It’s not as comfortable as the pro version, this one will either fit you comfortably or won’t be comfortable, the material is much harder than the pro version so you do feel having it on your head

Product was good . Connectivity had trouble sound quality. Kept going back and forth between stereo and mono. Battery life over a period of time grown weak. Charging took longer held charge less each week.

Little bit small for people who have large heads, sound quality is bad by default, but depending on your device and apps can be made good quality. I have a Note10. A plus is it uses a USB c port so Android users can use their phone charging cable.

So far, so good with these headphones. They are lightweight, comfortable and fit easily around your neck. The sound quality is actually better than I thought it would be. Many of the reviews I read said the bass sound was very weak, but I have not found that to be true in my case. I do like the fact that you can still hear what’s going on around you, but it doesn’t interfere with your music. There are earplugs if you want to mute outside sounds more. I have used them at the gym and I have been totally satisfied with their overall performance.

With the world of zoom, I've been testing these for both conference calls and listening to music. For sound quality, these work great for conference calls as the mic is good and you can hear people talk. On the music side, I find the music washed out compared to traditional headphones that go in your ears. Pros Lightweight, easy to put on and off Nice carry bag Good mic for conference calls Cons Music sounds washed out especially at lower volume. Cannot just take one side out, need to take the whole thing off. Overall, I will use these for calls but not when listening to music. You get the added benefit that with these you can still hear when people come up to you unlike ones that are in your ear, but you don't have noise-canceling which is pretty standard. It was easy to connect to both Windows PC and iPhone. If you're looking for only music you should check out something else, but great to use if you do a lot of conference calling.

Buy these, if you need to be aware when you are outdoors. Shokz are the current best solution for outdoor awareness. You can pay more for other models but I found the OpenMove to be outstanding and unlike the more expensive models does not require a proprietary charger. As someone who is very active in the outdoors with walks, dog walks, and even jogging at times, I am a big believer in staying alert for cyclists, scooter-ists, and traffic. I have used a number of wireless earbuds on my walks in a variety of ways to stay alert. I have worn the one bud in one ear, worn the earbuds that do not seal in the ear, and used the transparency mode of earbuds that seal the ears. Each of these methods offered some effectiveness but had downsides. The one earbud made me feel like I was hearing limited on one side. The open earbuds were good (Jabra 45e) but with the sound right at the ear tended to overpower ambient surrounding sounds still. The Jabra 45e also tended to hurt my ear for some reason. I would rate the open ear buds the second best method still. Finally, I just don't find transparent method transparent enough and still find myself being surprised by people coming up on me. This brings me to the Shokz Open Move. I thought of the whole bone conduction technology as a gimmick. I also read of the poor sound quality so I never considered them. On a recent trip, I was in an airport and visited one of the headphone stores that had a display of the Shokz headphones to try. I tried them and to my surprise I really liked them. The airport with all of its crowd noise and announcements gave the perfect background to test the models. My ears were open and the music was clear and understandable, and frankly more than good enough. The vibrations were not annoying and the sound was clear. Shokz ran a sale shortly after I returned home and I picked up the basic model, the OpenMove on sale at BestBuy. I chose the OpenMove because bone conduction is not going to replace my Beats Fit Pro when I am seriously listening to music, so I did not need or expect audiophile music so did not see value in the upgrades. The second and truly just as big a reason, it charges by USB-C so no need for proprietary chargers. My OpenMove Shokz I use daily on my walks. The sound is fine for music and for podcasts or Sirius XM programming. I am the most aware of people, bikes, dogs, traffic, etc., than any other earbud solution. Here is the rationale for my score, 4 for sound quality because they do not seal the ears for immersion. But 5 for being open like I need when I am outdoors. 5 for Battery Life. I have never run out of battery after a week or so, I will charge them out of good habit. But I am usually out one to two hours a day although they might not be playing music or a podcast the whole time. 4 for connectivity. This is nuanced. The Shokz always connect immediately to my iPhone 13 Pro. I have never had an issue playing music or a podcast. What I have had is on a few incoming phone calls the call did not come through on the Shokz and instead answered on my phone. It has happened a few times and it has not dropped a call just shifted to the phone. Of all the different earbuds I have bought and tried, I now used these the most.

Great product overall, comfort is great as well as battery life. Really a great means of listening to podcasts/audio books etc. when out on walks or bike ride when you still want to hear your surroudings to max extent. If I had one issue I do feel the audio quality isn't the greatest but it is a trade off you make to still be able to be cogniscant of your surroudings.

They have good sound and connect easily. I don’t like the variations in sound. You can speak to someone at a normal volume but then receive a notification ands it’s almost piercing. With louder or deeper tones it sometimes vibrates and that is very annoying. The bands is too large and too rigid. Just doesn’t work for what I intended.

I am not an audiophile or someone who can offer a lot of nuanced feedback, but here goes anyways. TLDR: This may be the product for you if you're a doer and you feel like you need to listen around you while you consume media. It may not be. I bought these on a whim because they seemed like an interesting product. Can't say after a few days' use that I feel too different about them. Price is good. This is what I assume to be the "beginner" version of the $130+ alternatives- which I do not have as a comparison- but for $80 (I snagged them for $60 on sale,) I think it's fine. Sound has a lot of words to be said. As several other reviews will tell you, there is very little bass in these; I'd argue that that's intended, or at least a required compromise for the time being until the technology develops further. I think they're good sound for being able to hear around you as well- which is what I was looking for-and for being $60, they are fine. I wouldn't recommend using them as studio headphones for video editing or music production- that should be obvious? Get some studio ANC headphones if that's what you need?- but for everyday listening, I think it's great. Comfort/Fit: An issue I've always had with my over-ears is that they slide off the front or the back of my head every once in a while. As for in-ears, they fall out. Plain and simple. This headset hasn't moved since I put it on eight hours ago. I haven't had to touch it with the exception of for volume adjustment. As far as comfort goes, it's acceptable. I can definitely tell that there's something there on my ears at all time, and when you're like me and just can't be asked to take it off for extremely long times (all morning, for example) it begins to ache, but more bearably than in-ears that never fit and after a longer time. If you're a normal person and only have it on for an hour or less (or thereabouts) at a time, you should see no problem provided your head is the right shape. Battery life is something to be commended- it's lasted all night and day playing music claiming it's been at "60%" for 14 hours. I'm assuming it's in increments of 20 or 30 on my phone (Moto G Play)- YMMV but I think this is a definite win. Solid 8/10, it feels like it isn't entirely at its peak yet while still being a more than just usable product. Note that if you play something loud enough it will annoyingly vibrate your head, but that is right about the time that people other that you can start to hear it, which is possibly the best way of saying "stop playing this so loud" I've ever seen. It came with earplugs, which I thought was hilarious- isn't the point for it to be open-ear?

Very good sound. Great battery life. A little buzzy at top volume. Very comfortable and easy to wear. The active voice is very quiet and hard to hear in a noisy environment.

There's one reason to get these: if you want bone conduction headphones and require a standardized usb-C charging port. I'll mimic what all the other reviews say: the technology works. It's hard for other people to hear what you're listening to and you can still hear everything around you (much better than the average earbud passthrough mode). At and above half volume, you'll likely feel some intense vibrations, but it's rare you'd need to turn it up that loud anyway. The bass is practically nonexistent, an unfortunate drawback of bone conduction (lower frequencies don't conduct as well as higher frequencies), but plugging your ears actually helps with that, should that be an acceptable option. All around, the OpenRun/Aeropex is a significantly better product in construction, comfort, runtime, and audio quality; but the use of a proprietary charging interface might be a deal breaker for some. Those people will find the Open move suitable enough. My one complaint was that, as a glasses wearer with a large head, the place the electronics box sits behind the ear pressed on my ear in such a way that was quite painful after extended use. This may not be an issue however for those with smaller heads or those who don't wear glasses.

I have tiny ear canals... Apple ear-buds (all models) don't work too good for me. This Shokz works very well for me. Battery is long lasting. Quality of phone calls is GREAT! Easy charging. VERY COMFORTABLE. Have NOT used for music. Maybe TRY them, Best Buy has GREAT return policy.

These headphones have two features that I like. They sync easily and I can hear surrounding noise when I want to. Two disadvantages are they can be loud enough to be heard by people nearby and it is difficult to lay your head back because the connecting "wire" gets in the way. For the price I would purchase again despite these issues.

Hi there- Shokz here! We're sorry to hear this has been your experience. There is a phone setting that may resolve any low volume issues.
1. Turn Off Volume Limit Settings
For iPhone: Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety, switch off the Reduce Loud Audio feature.
For Samsung: Go to Settings > Sounds and Vibration > Volume, click More, and turn off Media Volume Limit.
For other Android phones: Go to the Bluetooth Settings on the phone, find the headphones and make sure that the Absolute Volume feature is switched on for them. Please reach out to our Customer Happiness Team if you have any questions. Thank you!

Easy to use and unlike earbuds, with this you dont get the weird feeling like something stuck in your ear. Volume and bass are not as high as an earbud but lot more comfortable to wear the whole day.
