The lens has excellent close-up capability with a minimum focusing distance of 17cm / 6.7in. at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.7. This is useful when composing close-up shots of a subject, or when shooting in tight spaces where it is difficult to get a good distance from the subject.
A bright, constant F2.8 aperture across the entire 24-70mm range delivers strong low-light performance and beautiful background blur with clear subject separation. It's the do-everything focal range for events, portraits, travel, landscapes and everyday shooting on full-frame cameras.
Sigma's HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) drives the focus group directly for autofocus that's roughly three times faster than the previous model, with quiet, high-precision performance. It's responsive enough for action and smooth and silent enough for video.
A dedicated aperture ring with click and de-click switches gives tactile stills control and stepless, silent adjustment for video, while an aperture-ring lock, two customizable AFL buttons and a zoom lock add intuitive handling. Thoughtful controls make it fast to operate in the moment.
About 10% lighter than its predecessor, this Art-series lens pairs a robust build with a dust- and splash-resistant structure and a water- and oil-repellent front coating for reliable use in tough conditions. Designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras.
