This us a Wonderful TV for the toom. I like that it is so easy to set up. The Smart TV is great as you can get to Netflix with a push of a button on remote. Would definitely highly recommend this TV.

Excellent TV... Have had it for about 4, almost 5, years now without a problem... Picture is EXCELLENT, and sound from the speakers is not too bad either, considering I live in an apartment, but a nice speaker system or sounder would def. be helpful!!! I expect nothing but the best from Sony, and they STILL constantly deliver!!!

As expected from Sony... a wonderful HDTV with high class, high quality picture... I've had this tv for at least 2 years now with ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES!!!

I’ve owned this TV for 7 years and it’s still going strong. A great bedroom TV! Added a Roku since the web interface only provides Netflix, Prime, Hulu, & Vudu. At only 17lbs, this TV was so simple to wall mount and easily moves with our articulating mount. I thought about replacing with a new Sony, but the picture quality of this one is still pretty good.

I was shopping for a 1080 "dumb" TV right before the Super Bowl. My first choice (Sony KDL-40R350D) was sold out, so I bought the Sony KDL-40R510C for $80 more, even though I didn't want a "smart" TV. However, I am happy with the 510C. The picture is excellent to my eye. I didn't want to pay for 4K on a 40" screen. It allows plenty of picture adjustments, but I'm not picky. It communicates easily with my cable box, my DVR, Roku, and sound bar, and universal remote. I've never even tried the internet access because I already had Roku. The speakers are okay, but I had a Vizio sound bar, so why not use it? It has a sensibly designed remote with the "classic" layout. It only has two HDMI ports, so I have a little HDMI switcher to share a port. The viewing angle is narrow for a room of people watching a ball game. It is very lightweight, but the bezel seems flimsy - it's not as sturdily built as my 9 year Sony 32", but nothing else is, either. It doesn't have nearly as many I/O ports and options, either, but I guess that's par for the course nowadays. I would recommend it for the picture and usability - can't speak to the "smart" feature.

Excellent value, picture, color and electronics. Built-in apps work flawlessly. Would buy another in a heartbeat

We were looking for a Smart TV for a guest bedroom that does not have cable. The Best Buy associate showed us a couple of options. This 40" Sony was perfect for our needs and a really great price. We were able to set it up in under 15 minutes. It works great for our needs. Very good picture. Easy menu to navigate.

The image and sound quality are off the charts good. Monumental value for this top line brand, and the Sony reputation is well served by the visual and audio capabilities. Especially high marks for the sound. My experience with TVs in this size range is that the audio can be tinny and muddled. Not so here, and even with high expectations for sound quality, I was happily surprised at how good the audio is. My complaints are with the Smart aspects, but they are minor. No browser, and the process of accessing the web apps or network drives is slow and clunky. Rather small drawback for a unit that does the important things a TV is supposed to do so well.

This is a really nice TV, with very good picture quality. I bought last year's model upon the advice of a Sony representative in the store, which saved me some money. It is easy to set up. Once I got it on my home wireless network, it was easy to watch Netflix. All you do is press a button on the remote that says 'Netflix', no matter what channel you are on, and it takes you to Netflix. It is that simple! I am very happy with my purchase, and the buying experience. Also, the 0% financing for 12 months from Best Buy really helps :)

This 40" flat screen is perfect for a smaller room. The color quality is really nice with blue and pink hues really beautiful. It is easy to program and was light and simple to set up. I would not hesitate to recommend a Sony to anyone or to replace my second tv with a Sony when it needs to be replaced.

As televisions have gotten thinner the speakers have disappeared - but this one sounds great even without a soundbar add-on. Without messing with any of the settings, it already blew away the old tv out of the box! This was a replacement for a bedroom tv, and thanks to the small bezel we fit a 40" tv in the space where a 32" used to be.

I had purchased a different tv first, but picture was not clear. Sony has clear picture, great color and was easy to setup. I have not used the wifi part of the tv, not into that yet.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Sony televisions, owning many of them over the years. They are the leader setting the standard in color and performance and this TV lives up to their reputation. I purchased this TV as a replacement to the smaller version because I wanted a larger picture as well as a “Smart TV” to integrate my computer as well as having Wi-Fi. Set-up was simple and within minutes the TV was on-line and Sony updated the software. The picture like all of my Sony’s is sharp and crisp with explosive color and detail. I highly recommend this TV to the budget conscious; you won’t be disappointed.

I was looking for an inexpensive 40" flat screen to replace the sudden failure of a Toshiba I owned. This was an upgrade and I am pleased with my choice. The picture is sharp and well-defined and the frame around the screen is much smaller than my prior model, making it 'disappear' more. I was a little disappointed that it didn't have RCA outputs for my to connect the audio through my stereo until I discovered that my stereo had an optical input. Now I am extremely pleased with the sound accompanying my video experience. It is a smart TV and I like being able to access Amazon, YouTube and Pandora through it, but I'm afraid I still have to use a Roku stick for Hulu. I wish it had that.

Beautiful picture, easy to use remote, lightweight, looks nice in my room. If you're a SONY lover like me, you'll definitely want to purchase this tv! Enjoy!

Good sound out of the box. Great picture and easy to set up to Wi-Fi and use apps. Make sure you don't need Hulu because it is not a option on these apps.

We purchased this TV for my parents who are in a very small apartment in an Assisted Living Facility. It is the perfect size for them and is easy for them to operate. The picture is clear and they are very pleased with their gift.

So far no problems with the TV or the setup. It has a Netflix button on the remote that is a real time saver. The remote is easy to operate.

I exchanged this after purchasing a lesser brand. I'm so glad that I went with Sony. They've always made products that just work as you expect them to. I'm very pleased with the picture and sound quality as well as all of the features. The Smart TV features are great.

I wanted a HD tv large enough to enjoy in the bedroom, but streamlined/light enough to not look like a mini fridge on a wall. This thin 40" beauty not only has great sound and picture, but also wirelessly connects to my home network, so even my favorite web content is available at a whim.
