If you’re looking to get into cinema cameras, the FX30 is such a great option. Literally everything you need for cinema set up in this compact style body like Dual Base ISO, Timecode, loadable LUTs, and the XLR top handle. For a cinema camera I’d say the learning curve isn’t too steep either. You can pick up and shoot with this camera and achieve some pretty stellar results. For the value, the FX30 is hard to beat.

I bought the Sony FX30 mainly for video work and it has been an amazing upgrade. The image quality is extremely sharp and the colors look great straight out of the camera. Once you start shooting in S-Log3, the footage really comes to life in editing and gives you a lot of flexibility. Autofocus is one of my favorite parts. It stays locked on the subject even when moving, which makes filming much easier and less stressful. I also appreciate that the camera is built specifically for video. The buttons are well placed, it feels solid in hand, and I have not had any overheating issues even during longer shoots. For the size and price, the FX30 delivers professional-level results. It is a great choice for content creators, filmmakers, or anyone serious about video. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to step up their production quality.

[DISCLAIMER: I have no other frame of reference since this is my first camera] I mainly bought this camera because I had an upcoming project for university centered around making a short film. Although an expensive first camera for a pure beginner, I wanted to look for something I could grow into. I had a lot saved up from freelance 3D work and decided to bite the bullet after doing a ton of research. As someone who's never handled a real camera before, I found the FX30 to be easy to learn and shoot with even while using it manually (I'm sure using it in auto would be even easier). I paired it with a tamron 17-70 f2.8, and the picture quality turned out fantastic. The short film was received greatly, and I can't help but thank this camera for being my main workhorse. There's a lot more to learn, but I am excited to continue using the FX30 for the foreseeable future

Love the 4k 60fps video from the FX30. I primarily use it to shoot soccer videos (I shoot each 45 minute half to keep the whole match in a more manageable size for other parents/kids to download from MS OneDrive). It's nice to not have to worry about the camera overheating in the sun and losing precious videos of my kids. I have shot videos in the summer in Virginia in the mid-90's with high humidity and the FX30 performed like a champ. I used to shoot 4k 30fps videos with the a6600 which was great, but it did overheat/shutdown in mid-90's heat in Arizona and ended up missing some nice match moments.

Wonderful camera! Video quality is great and it even takes good pictures if you need it to! My videos looks beautiful and professional. It shoots in RAW so the color grading looks gorgeous in the editing room because it gives you so much to work with. The 4k videos have looked great! Some settings are a little complicated but not hard once you know where everything is. The camera itself is gorgeous too.

Amazing camera. I did my research for a cine cam and I fell for the FX30 propaganda lol. The quality is absolutely amazing. It’s so easy to work with and getting the footage from the cam. I’ve had it for 2 years now and I haven’t had any problems. For the quality you get from it, the price is definitely worth it. 10/10 recommend.

So happy with this camera. Footage is so unbelievably clean. Crop sensor doesn’t even matter in my opinion. Make sure if you want to shoot in 120p you buy a V60 sd card at the least so it can handle it. It will not shoot 120 on a v30. Buy it! Dont wait anymore just get it!

Been a wedding videographer for 11 years and have never had a tool that makes my job easier than this camera. Terrific image quality, great in low-light, well designed and built well, integrated fans help with overheating. Sony has made significant improvements over the years to the menu and functionality. Overall incredibly value in a lightweight package. Highly recommended.

I’m so happy with this camera. It’s an amazing entry point into Sony’s cinema line, so you can learn their tech and terminology that will carry over to their higher-end cameras when the time comes. With some learning and experimentation, I’ve been able to customize this camera for my uses and get truly professional, cinematic footage. The IBIS is really good especially compared to the Sony ZV E10 Mark II, but of course as it should be since it's almost double the price. Having a fan gives me peace of mind that it will not overheat and having two SD cards means double the recording in case one SD fails. It feels what it is worth and having the record buttons in multiple spots is actually super nice. It's a powerful cropped sensor and a decent "budget" cinema camera if you have the funds for it. It will be a nice b camera once I get a FX3 for my a camera.

Excellent camera. A bit of a learning curve but well worth it for the quality and price point! I have two of them now. Upgraded from the Alph 6300 and all the lenses I bought fit the FX30. I would recommend getting a lens hood. Still on the learning curve.
