if you are shooting with a SLT or other Alpha cropped sensor body this is without a question the highest level of performance you will receive out of a lens compatible with the system. From one end to the other it renders a sharp image across the focal plane even wide open. Color and contrast are simply another level. Some question whether this lens warrants the price above the other offerings. Simply put if you are particular and fussy about your results or are planning on printing above 8x10's there is NO comparison between this lens and others. Only a prime would get you there, and that would indeed be limiting. Build is excellent with tight tolerances. Focus speed is pretty much instant. Optical performance is what it delivers in spades.
