The Sony FE 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II is an excellent all-around lens that delivers consistently sharp images across the entire zoom range. Even when shooting at f/2.8, photos come out crisp with strong contrast and natural-looking colors, which makes it reliable in a variety of situations. The autofocus is quick and accurate, and it performs well for both photos and video, including when tracking moving subjects. The build quality feels solid and durable without being overly bulky, and it’s comfortable enough to use for extended periods. That said, the price is definitely one of the biggest drawbacks, especially for those who aren’t shooting professionally or using it on a regular basis. While the lens is versatile, it can feel a bit “standard” creatively compared to more specialized lenses, and the size and weight are still noticeable during longer sessions. The larger filter size is also something to keep in mind, as accessories can add to the overall cost. Overall, it’s a high-quality, dependable lens that can handle a wide range of shooting situations, but whether it’s worth the investment really depends on how often you plan to use it and what you need out of your gear.

I’ve used a lot of lenses over the years and the Sony 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II is easily one of the best I’ve ever owned. Sony improved everything with this second version. The lens is incredibly sharp from 24mm all the way to 70mm, even wide open at f/2.8. The colors and contrast are beautiful and the background blur looks very natural. The biggest surprise is how light and compact it is compared to the original version. It feels perfectly balanced on my Sony camera and makes long shoots much easier. The build quality is outstanding and everything about the lens feels premium. Autofocus performance is excellent. It locks on instantly and tracks subjects perfectly, even when shooting fast action. This lens works great for portraits, sports, events, and everyday photography. It’s also fantastic for video. Focus breathing is very well controlled and the aperture ring is great for smooth adjustments while filming. Yes, it’s expensive, but you truly get what you pay for. If you want a professional all-around lens that delivers amazing results in almost any situation, this is it. Highly recommend.

I started with the Sigma 24 70 and it treated me well, but after switching to the Sony 24 70 GM II it was instantly clear why this lens has the reputation it does. The autofocus is fast and dependable, especially for video and moving subjects, and the images come out sharp edge to edge with beautiful contrast. It also feels noticeably lighter and better balanced on my camera, which matters a lot on long shoot days and when using a gimbal. The colors and overall rendering look premium without feeling overly clinical, and it holds up in every scenario I put it in from portraits to events to run and gun content. If you shoot professionally or just want the best standard zoom you can buy for E mount, this lens is an easy recommendation.

If I had to choose one lens, it would be this one. It does everything well. Super sharp and versatile. Can do portraits, landscapes, architecture, travel, astro, you name it. My A7RV never goes anywhere without it.

This bar none is the perfect balance for a zoom lens. Very fast and the glass is perfect ... I'm running this and a A7V and so far its been perfect.... I would imagine on a A7CII this would really excel due to the form factor. The picture attached shows the A7V and my A6700.

Very sharp and reliable lens. Autofocus is fast, image quality is great, and it’s lighter than expected….Expensive..but worth it if you need one lens that does almost everything

i use this lens for wedding videography. it is so crisp and clean. it’s not too heavy and works great on my sony a7siii

There’s not much to say about this lens other than it’s perfect. It will do everything and maintain the utmost quality and sharpness all the way through the focal range. Absolutely remarkable autofocus and incredible image quality. I use it with an A7iii and I just love the versatility of a variable zoom. I couldn’t be more pleased.

fantastically sharp lens! Quality through and through. Took me awhile to justify the price tag but in the end I have zero regrets. The most versatile zoom range of all lenses in my opinion.

I’ve been searching for the perfect lens for wedding photography and this is IT. It’s versatile, has amazing focus, sharp, and high quality results. It’s a little on the heavy side but as long as you take breaks from holding it you’ll be fine. I have a harness so when I’m not using it, it’s by my side. Can’t wait to use this for all my weddings this year - it won’t leave my camera.

Im just starting with concert photography for the radio station i work for, and this lens along with my Sony Alpha 7R V is a killer combination! From the pit, I’m able to get great shots even in low lighting conditions. Love the versatility of this lens for every day shooting and portraits as well.
