The bounce flash feature works very well if used in a room no more then 2 stories high. My only issue is the way the item is turned off and on. The user has to flip the flash up and then flip it down when no flash is desired. I find that half the time, the flash stays off when flipped up. I am quite certain that it isn't an issue of dead batteries. The battery compartment also has issues. The battery compartment door has to be slid open. The door is flimsy and as a result, the metal contacts seem to have problems. the user has to slide it open a millimeter or two, in order to get a good contact. I've owned two and both have had similar issues. When the flash is actually working, it provides decent flash.

This is my first Sony flash. I wasn’t expecting a lot from this little flash but I was wrong. This flash is so good for indoor use. It is very light and the results are pretty good. I use it for all my family events. I would say no regrets on this purchase so I recommend this flash if you don’t want to buy the more expensive Sony flashes. I use it on my A7RV.

For a budget friendly flash, it’s powerful. I’m seriously impressed. I bought this as a back up and ended up using it as the main flash for certain shoots.

The flash is good and works well however the battery is really bad. It drains the cells A LOT and it stops working randomly. I added some pictures I got with the flash

it’s good when it works, but doesn’t always continuously shoot. maybe i haven’t figured it out all the way yet, but if then it is not super user friendly in the end, i would suggest saving for a better flash if you plan to use it for high speed and continuous settings

Hi KamiM, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. We're sorry to hear about the issue you are running into with the flash. If you are needing a flash to fire continuously, we would suggest to look into a Speedlight with a faster recycle time. This unit is great for compact and general use. If you reduce the power of the flash, it will also allow the flash to recycle faster as it is not using as much power. If you need any more tips on flash photography, please feel free to contact us at Sony Support 239-245-6360. We would love to help you. Thank you again. -Linda Sony Social Support

This flash is a great price, is compact enough to easily fit in my camera bag and works great, especially for light fill in. While the On / Off switch is part of the flash pivot hot shoe and is convenient for most applications, it would be good to have a slide On/ off switch so it doesn't take up so much storage room.

If you like me, you like the size of the small compact A6400 then you'd want a small compact-sized flash to go with it. Almost all third party flash are much bigger and heavier. They may give out more lights but sometimes you want something small and light to accompany when traveling and this is where this flash comes in. It's great for those intimate occasions at a restaurant where you'd want enough lighting to ensure you can capture details of food and people around the table. Also there's no on/off button, flip up is on, flip down is off, what more ease of use is there?

This is a must have item for the Sony RX50. The range and versatility is impressive. Also it is small, light and easy to store until you need it.

I may go back and get this again; it did a nice even job of spreading the light and was a huge improvement over the a6000 built in flash (which itself is not a bad little flash). But I was of the understanding this worked the integrated shoe, taking both intel and power from the camera, with batteries as an option. Turns out, it requires the AA batts, and for they type of work I was doing (30 flashes req'd in about 5 minutes of work), the batts just weren't up to the task. It did about 5-6 very quickly, but natural drain pulled it down and could not keep up after that. Camera and flash did a nice job of working together for some very nicely lit shots. However, the need for rapid flash does not come up all that often, and this little guy was at least a 7 on a scale of 10 -- darned good for the price. Its a bargain if you just need it for a normal flash firing every minute or two.
I purchased this flash for my Sony a7r III. Although I use a prime lens for the camera which takes great pictures in low light, there are just some settings that need a flash for the camera to focus or to capture more details in low light. The flash is small and fits in my portable bag with the camera's lens attached. It comes with a soft cloth bag to store in. It is easy to attach to the hot shoe. Whenever the flash is snapped straight it will be "on." It must snapped into the bent position to be "off." It has the option of direct flash and bounce flash. The amount of light is great for outdoor night pictures. Overall the flash was a good price, good size, works well for my needs and not complicated to use. I give it five stars.

This flash is just what I wanted, it is very small and light weight. It does not throw out a tremendous amount of light but it is stronger than the built in flash that comes with the camera.

The flash is light and compact - very easy to carry. There are no settings, but it is good for the price.

The Sony a6600 does not have a pop-up flash. This fits the bill. Light weight, easy to carry and provides plenty light for close up work, catchlights etc... The on/off requires you pivot the flash up/down, It would be better if it had a slide switch. Also, a little pricey, but it's a Sony

Extremely powerful for its size. Light weight. I absolutely love that I can use it as a remote as well. Since my old Sony flash wasn't compatible with my new camera, I can now use this flash to trigger that as an off camera flash. And the price was unbeatable!!!

I bought this flash to trigger my HVLF60M flashes. It is very simple operate by mounting the flash to the multi interface shoe on the camera and flip the flash to the upright position. I triggers the HVLF60M without any problems that I have encountered yet. It also works in High Speed Sync, one of the main selling points for me. The flash provides good fill light when just that little extra is needed to fill in the shadows in some situations. I have not had any issues with the flash interfering with the general exposure of my photos when working with other off camera HVLF60M’s. I have had no issues with this flash and I am generally satisfied with its performance compared to its relatively small size. The price is about right for a unit such as this one.

Main appeal for me is the compact size, good for traveling and snapping pictures in low light, bright enough for pretty much all scenarios ive used it in, would recommend

If you have a Sony mirroless camera without a flash this is the one you want to fulfill the gap. It is small and as soon I put it to the challenge to fulfill a portrait as well as a direct flash I saw how effective it can be. Using it in the fulfill mode works the best. Small and effective and you can adjust the output from your camera menus. I'm giving four stars as I would prefer to have a rigid case instead of the soft pouch.

Pros -For the compact body's and frames of both a6000 and a6300 the flash (is astetically pleasing) Cons: This a knock on the camera first (the battery last longer on flash than any compatible camera model. Doesnt give the light effect that a canon speedlight does (I'm talking about all models of the canon not just the higher end ones) Learning curve and there is a huge one, takes time and if you dont prepare by shooting and event in advance you'll be looking like a fool. I'm sure you all are smarter that to do something like that though.

This is a great budget flash for first time external flash users like myself. The bounce feature helps to eliminate harsh shadows on your subject. My only complaint is that it drains the aaa batteries pretty quickly. And since it is very light and compact, it's reach is not that far either so dial down your expectations. I have been able to take nice portraits and group pictures with it.

If you need a flash in an environment where you don't want to carry your bulky flashes, this will work fine. It's not the strongest flash out there, but it doesn't claim to be. The winning feature of this flash is the compact size. The only gripe I have is the lack of a power button. It turns on when you lift it, which is fine on the camera, but if you want to store it flat, it stays on for a while. Luckily, there's an auto off timer, so that you can store it flat to save space in your bag. Alternatively, you can just take the batteries out, but over time that would put a lot of stress on that plastic battery door.
