The bounce flash feature works very well if used in a room no more then 2 stories high. My only issue is the way the item is turned off and on. The user has to flip the flash up and then flip it down when no flash is desired. I find that half the time, the flash stays off when flipped up. I am quite certain that it isn't an issue of dead batteries. The battery compartment also has issues. The battery compartment door has to be slid open. The door is flimsy and as a result, the metal contacts seem to have problems. the user has to slide it open a millimeter or two, in order to get a good contact. I've owned two and both have had similar issues. When the flash is actually working, it provides decent flash.

This is my first Sony flash. I wasn’t expecting a lot from this little flash but I was wrong. This flash is so good for indoor use. It is very light and the results are pretty good. I use it for all my family events. I would say no regrets on this purchase so I recommend this flash if you don’t want to buy the more expensive Sony flashes. I use it on my A7RV.

For a budget friendly flash, it’s powerful. I’m seriously impressed. I bought this as a back up and ended up using it as the main flash for certain shoots.

Customers enjoy the HVLF20M Flash for its compact size, compatibility with Sony cameras, and easy-to-use features. It is also lightweight and has a bounce feature that is useful for indoor photography. However, some customers have concerns about its battery life and recommend keeping extra batteries on hand.
