Let's start off with the positives: All three games look great, play great, and sound amazing, as I would hope so since they’re from-the-ground-up remasters. This is definitely the Spyro you know and love if you grew up with the original trilogy on the PS1. With a few changes to the game (i.e Gnorcs in Twilight Harbor not using real firearms anymore, Bombo being renamed to Bob, and Spyro 1 now having skill points like in 2 and 3) the games are otherwise unchanged. The muscle memory you acquired playing the original PS1 titles can essentially be re-applied to these games with a little adjustment since you’re going from 5th Gen game mechanics to 8th Gen game mechanics. All the secrets (not exploits though) are still here too. The team at Toys For Bob went above and beyond to put EVERYTHING that was in the original games into these games and even asked fans on Reddit for things they may have missed; that’s what I call dedication. They even made a program called Spyro-Scope to get precise and exact numbers for things like how high Spyro jumps, how far he glades, and the range of his fire breath. Again, dedication. The games are essentially made by fans for fans. They even have some old cheat codes (i.e Squid Skateboard cheat code) in this game for some fun so I recommend looking them up. Not to mention that some of the old cast (Tom Kenny as Spyro from 2 and 3) reprise their roles in this remastered trilogy making it even more nostalgic then before. The music is also pretty well-done. While it’s not entirely a note-for-note remake of Stewart Copeland’s masterpieces for the first 3 games, it gets the job done surprisingly well and does add some things; a pitter patter sound for when you charge and a distortion effect when you’re idle making the music very nice. And the fact that they give you the option to switch from the Reignited soundtrack to the original PS1 soundtrack is such an appreciated feature I’m glad they added. The animations are also amazing, almost Pixar quality. The fluidity, flexibility, and speed of the animations makes you feel like you’re watching an interactive movie when they come on. Even though some of the movies are pre-rendered at 30fps, they still look amazing and incredible. The production values for these remasters are so much better than Insomniac’s original trilogy (as I hope it would be). Sadly it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. The physical copy for Nintendo Switch only comes with the first Spyro game on the cartridge, you have to download the other two games onto your system memory or SD Card. Which is funny since the game is 15GB and Activision can definitely afford 16GB cartridges. That’s what I call being unnecessarily cheap, Activision. It sucks even more since the Xbox and PS4 versions DID have this problem, but have been reprinted to have all three games and the update patches on the Blu-Ray discs, meaning no more downloading the last two games. And while all three games have some bugs and glitches, what game doesn’t though, Spyro 3 is sadly the worst offender. With 3 being my favorite out of the trilogy, it was sad to see that Sanzaru Games, the company hired to work on Spyro 3 since Toys For Bob didn’t have time to work on it themselves, didn’t optimize it well enough to make its quality on par with Spyro 1 and 2. In Lost Fleet I was able to trick the game into letting me skate on the acid when I should’ve died on it. I’ve hit multiple invisible objects during the multiple skating mini-games (Lost Fleet and the Snowboarding bonus game being the biggest two), my first battle with the Sorceress ended with me seeing double her in her in-game rendered death scene, multiple enemies getting stuck on walls, the dog in Lost Tombs not instantly disappearing when he goes through the exit portal at the end of the level, and Sparx not picking up green gems. Spyro 3, again, is the least polished game out of this trilogy and that upsets me cause, again, it’s my favorite. While I always have the original PS1 title to go back to, it’s sad that this happened in the first place. And it sucks that the Nintendo Switch version is the only version not to receive a reprint containing all three games and the patches on the cartridge. Overall, despite the flaws I listed, I would still recommend this game to Spyro fans new and old. The pros definitely outweigh the cons and these are definitely the definitive ways to experience the games if you can look past all the negatives they have. You’re getting three amazing collectathon games for $40, and sometimes for $20 when it’s on sale, and that’s a price worth paying for them. These three games are prime examples of why the collectathon genre was as popular as it was in the 90s and why it’s making a small comeback as of lately. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is a must-have for Spyro fans <3

I bought this game as a gift for my partner, who grew up playing the original games. I have played it as well now, and the updated graphics and new animations are a huge improvement from what I’ve seen of the original games. For someone who wants to relive their childhood, I would recommend this game for sure. For someone like me, who didn’t play them as a child it might be worth it to buy on sale! The gameplay is simple, but there are some more challenging moments and levels. It seems like a game for older children or nostalgic adults. Or adults who like colorful, fun characters and cartoonish design and want a game with a more fantastical/storybook plot

If you haven’t picked up a game since Spyro came out on the PlayStation, there is a bit of a learning curve to the controls since they are more reactive than the original. Having all three games added together really makes me feel like they remastered it out of love and not profit. It’s every bit of fun and nostalgic as I thought it would be. I still have my original PlayStation sitting right next to my switch with the classic game next to it. Even if you didn’t play this game growing up, it’s best for those of us who like a rather simple straightforward game that rewards accuracy and not strategy.

While this review is being written near the completion of the Spyro 1 remaster - I will say I have very much enjoyed the Reignited Trilogy on Switch. The biggest thing that hit me immediately is how pretty the game and it's environments looked. It's beautiful, the animations and effects are extremely well done and this ends up being one of the best looking games available on on the Switch. The game controls well and I experienced nearly no performance issues outside of loading screen transitions. The controls have a small learning curve to them if you're not very used to Spyro games, I found the jump arc and gliding to feel a bit "off" after coming from games like Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. Some of the levels feature very hidden collectibles that require very specific path routes on speed pads paired with jumps to where you are almost GUARANTEED to look it up online to figure it out. (I've encountered this about three times, but you're in no way required to collect 100% of the collectibles or anything.) When playing the game handheld, the framerate feels very solid. It's not like BoTW where the FPS dips and lags more when playing outside of the dock, however - some fairly obvious resolution drops / downscaling is apparent. It's not enough to be noticeable in a bad way, but if you're someone who is used to high res and is bothered by that sort of thing, just a heads up. I think the PC version has got to be the definitive way to see this game in it's true graphical prowess. But this port looks and runs wonderfully, I cannot speak for the 2 additional titles included in this trilogy - but so far about 7 hours in, I adore it. (PS: there is a required Digital Download for Spyro 2 & 3 - it's somewhat substantial so you would want to have a good SD card at the ready.)

I loved the original Spyro games on the PS1. This game is pretty much exactly how I remembered but better looking and handheld. It still has the difficult flight levels and everything. This game is great. The loading screens can be a bit long, and of course none of the games are fully on the cart. As side from that I highly recommend.

Great graphics and and very good deal for the price. Loses one star because the controls were better in the original. Still a great collection

The remastered Spyro collection hearkens back to a day where fun B-level platforming games were common. Spyro was one of the best of its kind. The collection won't blow you away if you're used to modern game design and controls, but they still hold up well enough to provide hours and hours of fun.

While not as crisp and clean as the PS4 or Xbox One versions, it's still a blast to replay these games after not touching them in years and Spyro feels right at home on the Switch. I just wish that all three games were on the cartridge instead of needing to download the second and third ones.

The team has done a very good job of porting Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Switch (Includes Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.) The first game is physically on cart with the other 2 games needing a download. As far as the game goes it runs smoothly and has been remastered in HD. There are some slight speed frame issue when loading up a new area but when the level is running everything seems to appear smooth and solid frame rate. Though I wish all 3 games had been included physically it doesn't seem to be the case. PS4 and XBox owners had the same problem when it was released on those platforms. Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a nice addition to the Switch library of games.

Just how I remembered it as a kid! You do have to download the rest of the game before you can start but that didn't bother me. I will say though, it's a little slow to load which is frustrating when technology is so fast these days

Game looks really nice on handheld mode. Enjoying the game so far. Only issue is that you have to download like 10gb.

I've loved Spyro as a kid and this collection brings back memories of when I was playing my PS1 after school. I held out until they released the Spyro collection on the Switch mainly due to the portability. The biggest issue I have with the physical edition is only Game 1 is on the card, you need to download 2 and 3. Just be away you need a lot of storage space if you want all 3 installed at the same time.

Be forewarned: although this product is the physical version of the game, it doesn't contain the whole thing. As stated on the front of the case, a download is required as soon as you start the game. In my case, the download took 2 1/2 hours, which completely changed my plans the evening I did it. Anyway, the graphics have been upgraded from the original Playstation games, but yet they still seem rather simple by today's standards. The game is enjoyable, but the tasks of finding dragons and jewels is a bit repetitive.

These are 1:1 remakes of the originals. The biggest differences are the graphics and controls. Spyro is easier to control making some of the more challenging areas easier to manage. Great for nostalgia and new players.

I think this game is easily worth its price. Having played these games as a kid I had fond memories going into it. The graphics have been upgraded and the games are still a blast to play.

These are enjoyable games to play and nice to have remaster. Only thing I am not thrilled with is that they have to be downloaded and where not included on the game cart

I bought this game because I was nostalgic from playing it as a kid. It's definitely harder than I remembered. But for the price it does provide plenty of hours of gameplay
