Hi Slyfox. This is a fully wired DVR kit & you will need to run video/power cables between the back of the DVR box and each camera. If you wish to view the system remotely via the Swann Security app on your smartphone, then you'll need to give the DVR box internet access by connecting a network cable between the DVR & your router. If you don't need to view it remotely then you can operate it as a local closed system & view on a monitor without any internet connection required. Thank you for your inquiry, John. The camera itself cannot connect directly to Wi‑Fi. It’s a wired camera that must connect to a DVR via BNC cable. Remote viewing on your phone depends on the DVR being connected to your home network. This model can be used wired (Ethernet/LAN) or wirelessly with the Swann SWACC‑USBWIFIV2 Wi‑Fi adapter. However, the Wi‑Fi adapter only lets the DVR connect to an existing Wi‑Fi network. It does not create its own internet. So, if there’s no router, remote access won’t work. Things to consider: 1. The DVR must be connected to your router (via Ethernet or Wi‑Fi adapter) for phone app access. 2. Distance and obstacles between the DVR and your main router will affect Wi‑Fi connectivity and remote viewing reliability. 3.
