I've never owned a computer before that the manufacturer forces me to agree to let them remotely disable the machine permanently "at their sole discretion" before they will allow me to use it. The worst any respectable company has ever done before is threaten to lock you out of their online shops and multiplayer to protect their ecosystem from modified machines. They literally tell you, ONLY AFTER OPENING IT AND MAKING IT UNRETURNABLE, that you must agree to this or "do not use the console". This is the very definition of agreeing to something under duress. I imagine since I never plan to modify the machine, this won't be an issue, but the very principle of it is unconscionable and opens the possibility for bad actors to hack into Nintendo's system and activate the remote bricking mechanism. If your ok with that risk, then the Switch 2 has been a very nice piece of hardware. I love the bigger screen, larger storage, bigger and stable magnet locking high l controls, etc. Virtually everything about it is an improvement to the original except the repairability. I've really only been playing my existing backlog from the first switch and Metroid 4, I'm not taking any chances buying non exclusive games for this console with the looming threat of a remote bricking, I'd rather minimize my losses in the event that happens.

I really have trouble honestly recommending this switch because yes it’s more powerful, sleeker, slightly bigger and better feel for the detachment of the controller but there’s not much to this system. SOME games are 60 fps and what we can see Nintendo do is just re release games to run in 60 fps. Mario kart world is ok and other than finally being able to play Zelda in 60 fps there isn’t much to it and so I regret buying it. It’s faster but a downgrade to oled. The only handheld so far that I feel is far ahead than the rest is the oled steam deck. For the price and what you get, I just don’t think it’s worth it.

Nice performance upgrade vs switch 1. Probably as good as you could hope for in a hand held. However it's disappointing that performance isn't better in docked mode. I feel Nintendo could have been more aggressive with performance in docked mode. Very very disappointed that the Switch 2 doesn't support HDMI 2.1 in the year 2025. The screen is good awful. Worse the an LCD screen from 2006. Nintendo should be absolutely embarrassed with that screen. HDR looks atrocious and the amount of motion blur is unacceptable. Pile on the fact that there is really no switch 2 games yet I would highly recommend not blowing 500 bucks on this. Wait a couple years until there is more software available and they come out with an OLED model that can do HDR properly and eliminate the god awful motion blur.

If you have a SWITCH already there is NO NEED to get a SWITCH 2 unless you are a DIE-HARD NINTENDO FAN. I skipped the original SWITCH and SWITCH OLED as the WII U burned tarnished my opinion of Nintendo. I have been playing Nintendo since 1987-88. This is a MUST BUY from BEST BUY if you want/need a SWITCH. There is NOOOOOOOOO point to buy a SWITCH OLED at $350 when the SWITCH 2 is $500. My 4 year old niece LOVES the SWITCH 2. This is not a PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X. It is what it is, Nintendo stubbornness to stay behind in technology and milk the profits from long time fans. **The new Joy Cons still have STICK DRIFT. This is a bummer. The storage is horrible. These are the main reasons, the review is low.

On release we had promises of 120 fps 1080p or 60 fps 4k but we get neither. This system struggles heavily with any 3rd party game and the 1st party games are already lacking. Cyberpunk is a great example the game can barely stay at 30 fps docked and the textures look like you’re playing an early PS4 game. I bought the game on sale at $17 so I’m not upset but they have the nerve to charge $70 for games on this device that cannot keep up with any current or past gen device. Sure Red Dead 1 runs well but that game came out over 15 years ago it’s over 2 generations old that shouldn’t be an issue. Even then that still runs like a PS3. All games are overpriced on this device the membership gives you nothing. If you’re looking to get your kids a console just buy them a PS5 with PS Plus and they’ll have an endless amount of games included in the membership that all run great. It’s also cheaper than this. $500 is too much for a console that has no first party games and no games in general with no capabilities. I wish I could go back and not buy this it’s genuinely a waste of money.

Innovative, but lacks games to go along with it, with most of the premier titles being a bore after a couple of hours.

[Employee of bestbuy] -1 star for Nintendo saying you cant fix your own switch or they’ll brick your whole system, -1 for lack of performance/quality and -1 more star for the price. Recently played Mario Kart World and although it was fun my wife and I pretty much finished it in a couple of days. The open world is single player so that was a massive disappointment. If the Switch 2 cant handle 2 people split screening an open world game like Mario Kart World then why is it $500? A $500 console should be able to handle something like that. Now youre probably reading this review and thinking well its $500 because you can also travel with it but from what Ive seen the screen scratches far too easily and the controllers could easily break off if you drop it so definitely do the Geek Squad protection. Last thing Ill say is there are other handheld gaming devices for around the same price with much better performance. The switch 2 isnt a $500 console and certainly didnt feel any better than my normal switch.

Wanna pay $70-$80 for video games that look (or very well may be) 10+ years old? Do you want to have absolutely no way to tweak games to your liking? Do you enjoy paying more money for the games that are half the price or even less on other platforms? Do you enjoy supporting a company that are trying to patent basic gameplay features? Did you enjoy the uncomfortable joy cons from the original Switch and wish you could have them again, still prone to stick drift, except they're slightly larger now? Do you want to pay more for a worse screen than the last Switch model? Well do I have the console for you!

The switch works great in single player and co-op but if you play local 4 player games like mario kart world be prepared for alot of lag. The switch one is better than the switch 2 for 4 player games. The material used to make the docking station is weak as well. Dont put much pressure against it or you’ll break it. Not as fragile as eggs but it is compared to other gaming consoles.

I wouldnt say fair as most games are not compatible for the "performance boost" you get from this console. Evem when you do play a game with 120HZ and performance mode activated it runs like a potato. Id say better than a ps4 for sure but for what it is worth and how much the games are its UNBELIEVABLE.

It was way over priced. It was cheaper to buy the console and game separately. I ended up returning and doing exactly that.

If you are someone who doesn't have a switch, this is perfect to pick up. The upgrade is nice but not worth it. It's also over priced. The Mario Kart World game is comes with is laggy when 4-player split screen. There's no real incentive to upgrade from the Switch 1. And the most recent update to Mario Kart World is terrible.

It is bigger and faster than Switch1, but it's playing catch-up to PS4 technology, and limited game library. Kids prefer to play their ps5 pro and havent touched switch2

Nintendo has not been providing Development kits to 3rd party game makers, which is why most of the 3rd party games don't look or run well. So if you're looking for a portable system with 3rd party game support, this is not it for awhile.
