A: Yes. But the lights don’t connect together in the plugs like traditional lights. Each set of lights will need its own plug outlet. The lights are connected/synced together thru the app. So that is a disadvantage because you need outlets, and more lights with the set, the higher the price. Example if you wanted 1200 lights, your best bet is to buy 2 pack of 600 lights instead of 6 pack of 200 lights or 12 pack of 100 lights, because you will need an outlet for each pack.
Q: I have a 4.5 feet tree with about 40 inches width. How many sets should I use?
A: One set is perfect. I have a 8 foot tree and put one set on it.

JUST what I wanted, plus it gives me EVEN MORE!!!
I was tired of buying different colors of string lights for each season, and "imagined" one that was app driven, that I could put on once, and change the colors at will (like wifi bulbs). Here it is!! I was thrilled to see these, bought 2 sets, and loved them so much I bought 2 more. I had NO idea what dots were, but love them, too, now that I have them. The app is stellar. (Apps tend to be a weak point with many wifi products.) The string lights were easy to pair with my home wifi, and the phone app is very intuitive to use. These lights are on steroids!! You have TONS of programmed options, all which you can alter and resave. It's easy to GROUP multiple sets of these lights together, and MAP them with you phone camera, and then create giant pattern across all the sets paired. AMAZING. (I paired 3 sets for this tree.) You can create your own light patterns, colors, and animation speeds (EASY to do.) Quality packaging, GREAT app, and very solid, well-designed product. (note, with the 9.5 foot tree in photo I used 3 sets of 400 lights.)

Love the Twinkly lights!
I’ve had Twinkly lights for my Christmas tree for two years, and I love them. The app is easy to use and there are a variety of predefined effects available to download. Some don’t work so well on a three dimensional surface like a tree, so I’ve been wanting to get a curtain. When the 400 light set came on sale, I decided to create my own curtain. I made a 5’x5’ matrix, spacing the rows 3” apart to match the spacing of the lights in the string. The Twinkly app then mapped the lights, and any desired effect can be assigned. The dots are different from the string lights. Each light is in a silicone button which diffuses the light, creating a softer effect. You can apply any of the Twinkly library effects to it, but when laid out as a linear string as I have down, you basically have a one pixel wide element. It results in some unexpected results with some of the effects. There were supposed to have been adhesive stickers for the dots, but my box did not have them.
