I figured I would likely enjoy this game, but it far surprassed my expectations. If you want to complete everything, there is a lot to do. You can collect numerous party members throughout the story and many of those characters can form special bonds which adds a little more story to the game. Especially for those that may not get as much screen time as others. As far as battles are concerned, this is more like Langrisser. You do not control the characters movements and actions one they enter the fight. You need to make sure you have the right setup before they encounter the opponent on the battlefield. You can also play without the pause mechanic to feel more like a realtime strategy game with heavier JRPG mechanics. I pre-ordered this edition as soon as they announced it would be getting a soundtrack with it. It is the 16-bit version of 20 of the tracks from the game. I would have preferred an actuall complete soundtrack collection as the music is quite good, but it is fun to listen to the 16-bit versions. The card game that came with it is interesting. The cards themselves with the Vanillaware art is a great item to have, but the fact that the game does not just take the standard ruleset of a TCG and instead uses rules similar to those of some gambling card games, adds an interesting twist. The artbook of course is nice if you are a fan of the artwork. It does give a bunch of snippets about the characters and the other character types. If you have a completionist mindset where you will go out of your way to find every extra item, complete every possible bond, make sure all of the characters stats are maxed as high as you possibly can get them, and want to see all of the possible choices, get ready to put a lot of tike into the game. Appearances can be deceiving and this game definitely will throw you down a deeper rabbit hole than you might expect. If you want to rush through and just see the main story, it is possible, but you may want to switch to story difficulty and be prepared to question from time to time what is going on.

I must recommend this game, the gameplay is fantastic and the visuals are amazing. The card game in the deluxe edition is pretty cool too.

Another gem from VanillaWare. If you like Tactical RPGs and/or you liked the game Ogre Battle from the SNES/PS1, you will love this. Currently tied with Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth for my game of the year. Gorgeous art and great music rounds out the experience along with a nice long quest.

One of the best games released this year, and in my opinion the best strategy game of the decade. True to Vanillaware tradition, there is smooth animation and fantastic looking hand drawn food. The monarch edition comes with a CD, artbook, and card game, and well worth the increased price. Fans of strategy RPGs will absolutely love this game!

I was so happy to pre-order and pick up my copy of this! The process was simple and the game is fantastic to boot. Something I usually worry about when ordering collector's editions is the condition I will receive them in and Best Buy did a great job handling it with care for when I got it.

Very good customer service and fast delivery. Only complaint was the box was slightly dented in the corner

This game is another gorgeous Vanillaware title with exception systems that somehow only they truly lean into. If you're a fan of tactics-style games (FF Tactics/Tactics Ogre/Fire Emblem) or just a Vanillaware fan like myself, this game is for you.

Didn't know what to expect with this game, but it turned out to be amazing! Great story, characters, combat, exploration, and sparkly things to click. This game checks all the boxes for me and was well worth my time and money!

Fantastic deep and tactical gameplay. Fans of strategy RPG games of old will be hit with that special nostalgic feeling. Tons of units, solid story, and amazing condition-based customization to bring out the best of each unit type.
