The drive is suppose to be a "plug-n-play" hard drive, but it doesn't work that way. Even after I use my password to access the drive, it will not allow me to save anything to the drive. I keep receiving "This is a read only drive". I've tried contacting WD customer service, and their response has been useless in resolving this problem. This is my 2nd drive because my first one had very similar issue. Geek Squad was great in determining my 1st drive was defective and replaced it with this drive end of Jan 2024. I'm taking this drive back to Geek Squad again to see if they can help me, but if not, then I'll return this drive and get my money back.

Hi Robert, we are sorry for the inconvenience. We suggest that you try formatting the drive using a file system such as HFS+ Journaled. if you want to use the drive on macOS or use NTFS to use the drive on a Windows computer. If the problem persists, you may request for the replacement once again. Please refer to Answer ID: 8200(https://support-en.wd.com/app/answers/detailweb/a_id/8200/). Also, please know, the process is data destructive and cannot be undone, all the data on the drive will be lost!

Returning it was told it had certain capabilities that it does partially have, the cloud options were told to me it works with any and all of your cloud accounts. Apparently as it told me upon trying to set up it's limited and more are in the works to come soon paraphrasing. However I needed this to gather all my data now not in the future so will return and find something compatible with the clouds I'm utilizing. Was also told it has the capabilities to download the entirety of your laptop and be able to when plugged into say a friend's laptop pull your full and entire replica of yours onto theirs. Have yet to figure out how that works I gave up and I can change out the screens and disassemble and reassemble anything electronic as well as troubleshoot. Was a tech agent and manager for over three yesrs.

Have had this for just over a year. I use it primarily for my plex media server. The issues that I have come across are: 1. Slow transfer rate. Sometimes it fails half way through because it goes so slow. 2. I has developed clicking sounds within a few months time 3. Sometimes doesn't recognize on the system So overall, its okay when it wants to work. Luckily it has a 3 yr warranty, but it hasn't completely failed yet. I wouldn't buy again or recommend.

The drive works okay. The software program would not load on my computer. Could not use the backup and utilities programs.

Less than a year - the drive failed. I am now unable to retrieve my data. WD is great with replacement, but it doesn't recover my data. Be careful the type of hard drive you purchase

I got this drive hoping the USB-C interface would mean faster backups, but for some reason, this drive seems even slower than my older USB 3.1.

The disk works well, however the box describes that it has a USB-C cable with a USB-A adapter. Only the USB-C box existed in the box. There was no USB-A. I needed to buy a new cable to connect to my computer with only USB-A ports.

Extremely slow. Took like 4 hours to back up my system. I'm definitely returning for something better to suit my needs.
