Simply read online reviews of this lens, and you will be tempted to buy one for yourself. All the reviews about this lens are spot on: great bokeh, fast and silent autofocus, light and compact, great build, great design (albeit a little odd due to the tapering of the lens). Everything about this lens is optically great. There is no better lens for general photography. This is the nifty-50 for the Fuji-X series. If you want to blur the background more, get the 35mm f1.4, but for the $100 less, you get weather sealing, faster autofocus, and equal performance at all equivalent apertures.

I'm using this on an X-Pro2 and it's really surprising what it does for the price. I've also owned the 35mm f/1.4 but there's a difference between them that goes beyond the widest aperture. Neither one is objectively superior and they have different qualities. For what I do I think I like the general rendering of this f/2 aperture version better. In addition, it's faster focusing, way quieter and less "clunky" in operation. It's sharp, versatile and built well. For what you pay, you get an excellent standard prime. If you're a wide-open bokeh purist the more expensive f/1.4 is better, but the f/2 version is perhaps a better lens overall when you consider every aspect -- at least for me. The image I'm posting was made with this lens -- it's post processed for the look but I think the high quality of the source image from this lens is still apparent.

I wanted a small unobtrusive lens with a standard field of view and this fits the bill. Though it's only f/2 this allows for a smaller profile and with a little forethought, I'm still able to get great separation of my subject from the background. It's not the lens for creamy bokeh, but the speed of focus is more what I was looking for.

Perfect everyday prime lense. It feels great on the hands, small and sharp!

Nice and sharp images for my Fujifilm XT3 with this bad boy. Nothing but good things to say about this lens.

I bought this lens to go with my brand new Fujifilm X-e4 and it is fantastic. It is small but still packs a punch. The autofocus is great and f/2.0 aperture gives you creamy backgrounds. The whole Fujifilm experience has been great as well. Every BestBuy stocks this one lens and I understand why. Great results and a definite recommend. I added an aftermarket lens hood.

Really nice small lens - great in low light, good weather sealing. Just a good one to have around. Definitely worth the price.
A flexible, high-quality, compact, and reliable lens that performs well in various conditions. It’s not the most “ultra-fast” or “artistic” lens out there, but it does everything well

I know that is a bold statement, but considering its size and weight, I have to give it that title. This lens is so good, I bought it a second time. Build quality is excellent, it is mostly made of metal, and is completely weather sealed. Don’t go dunk it in a pool, but it will survive a rain storm, snow storm and dust. Just clean it off carefully and you’ll be good to go. The reason I call this one of Fuji’s best lenses is that at 35mm, you’ll get a 50mm focal length, which is a good length for almost any situation. It is just wide enough to keep your environment in the background when shooting a portrait photo and just tight enough to create a pleasing background blur. Micro contrast and colors are so good with this lens. There is hardly any vignetting and chromatic aberration. If I could only pick one lens out of a bunch, I would take this one time and time again. It pairs very nicely with any Fuji body. Keep in mind that there is no OiS on this lens, so unless your Fuji camera body has it, you will have to hold it steady for video recording. Autofocus on this lens is quick and fast, and silent. If you’re looking for your first prime lens, I highly recommend this one for starters. Especially if you’re trying to keep your camera compact and lightweight.

Phenomenal little lens. I switched to Fujifilm in order to take advantage of it's smaller lenses and this guy has been a joy to shoot with. I shoot a lot of candids in the street and I find that less people react to me waving the camera with this lens in front of them. Did I mention that the lens is also tack sharp almost all through the range. Maybe just a little edge softness wide open but that is usually fine for me as I only shoot wide open for portraits, where my subject is nowhere near the edges of the frame. This lens has basically lived on my camera since I bought it and only the similarly priced and sized XF23mm comes close to dethroning.

I already had the f1.4 version of this lens and always get great shots out of it. This focal length is a great walk-around lens for the X-series of Fujis. I had heard so many good things about this f2 lens so I pulled the trigger and bought it at a bargain. After using the lens for a few days, I can honestly say it's one of my favorites for the X-T1. Focus is fast and it's much quieter than the f1.4. It's also much lighter and the weather-proofing is also a plus.

I love this lens for portraits. I was a little concerned that the f/2 wouldn't be fast or than the bokeh would be not as good as some other lenses I currently use, but I decided to give it a chance since the price of this lens is really affordable. After a few times using it I was really excited with the quality of the images. It's extremely small which make it perfect for documentary or street photography. Build quality is also exceptional for it's price.

After researching 35mm options, I purchased this lens for my XT2 and am very pleased with it. It focuses quickly, is light weight, and is a perfect all around lens for when I am going out for the day, and don't want to carry a heavier lens option. I have a lot of Fuji lenses and this is in my top 3.

Beautiful pictures without too much effort. It doesn’t add a lot of weight to the body of the camera, so it’s easy to take around and snap portraits.
