    **PHENOMENAL PRODUCT!**

I've had this lock on my door for 2 months and I feel much more secure with it. It only takes AA batteries you're able to change the code and the sleek look makes it so much more intimidating.

    Yale - Code

The Yale - Code, keypad & deadbolt combination kit is a worthy choice. Installation was very straightforward and easy. The instructions are very detailed and all the key components are of solid construction. I was able to install this system in about 15 mins. Some of the notable aspects of the Yale - Code are the design and simplicity. Installing the two halves of the main unit are carefully guided by the inclusion of a mounting plate that not only gives the entire unit extra strength, but makes lining up the "squareness" of the entire unit pretty much effortless. This mounting plate goes on the indoor side of the door and assists in the mounting alignment of the outdoor, keypad half of the unit. Once you have the bolt assembly installed in the door "hole", these next two parts go together & secure together with two bolts. Prior to securely torquing down those adjoining bolts, you can "sight in" the alignment (placement) of the two pieces and even go the extra step & utilize a level. I skipped using a level and still got the unit to align in a straight manner. Once anchored, and in the right position, the indoor half of the unit screws into the mounting place - thereby ensuring perfect alignment to finish things out! Brilliant. The battery compartment is accessed from the indoor side and has a solidly designed, slide-on cover that doesn't feel cheap. Furthermore, the feel of the deadbolt knob is smooth and the motorized action of the entire locking mechanism is also smooth sounding in motion. On the outdoor half, the numeric buttons are evenly backlit and feel great to the touch. Programming a unique code is also simple & straightforward. Overall, I think the Yale -Code is a great option for those looking for a keypad/deadbolt solution that doesn't require WiFi/IoT integration. Personally, I like this option way better. The build quality is good, the finish is matte black and looks robust... and the installation should be easy enough for most everyone to do. Nothing complicated. I do have one big complaint and demoted my review by 1 Star because of it. One key. This system only came with a single Yale (backup) key. It should have come with two. Most door lock systems, across the full spectrum of the very inexpensive to very expensive, always come with two physical keys. At an MSRP of $100, two keys are a must and should have been provided. Yale themselves sell a blank key for $ 0.80, on their website, so the cost contribution is minute. Pros: Easy to install, with very clear to understand, printed instructions Excellent build quality Pleasing aesthetic Comes with both short & security length, striker plate screws! Nice bright & even backlighting to the numerical buttons Smooth action and feel to the entire mechanism Cons: Only comes with a single physical key! Unacceptable at this price-point...

    Keeping It Simple

There isn't much to say about this product, but that's generally a good thing. When you're considering locks for your home, garage, 4-seasons room, or maybe for the somewhat dilapidated shed in your backyard - you don't want the solution to be complicated. Simplicity is king. Yale did a good job with this lock and keeping it simple. Let me first state - if you already have a deadbolt on your door, or are okay with drilling out your door knob's strike to create more depth and get that deadbolt experience - this product will work for you. The installation is pretty simple. Just don't overthink it. Yale includes clean diagrams that won't cause much confusion. I tend to confuse myself on basic installs by overthinking the instructions, since I'm more of a visual person, but the diagrams will help remove any doubt you have. Once you have it installed... The process for coding your first pin is very simple. You can choose between 4-8 digits for your pin, and the device can store up to 20 pins! I imagine that's more than most people will ever need, but you have the opportunity to use plenty of pin codes if you so wish. The programming buttons located behind the battery door are simple and well explained within the user manual, so adding pins and factory resetting the device is a breeze. Other than that, a word of advice for anyone doing the DIY doorstrike-to-deadbolt conversion I did - please ensure that you drill out the inner strike well and make it so the deadbolt can cleanly and smoothly slide in and out of the strike. If you create resistance, the device will get a bit upset with you and flash a red indicator light. That's not to say that the motor involved with locking and unlocking are weak - they work great. But, ensure that you're helping the device by doing your part during the installation. I recommend this product for the ease of use and the fact that it is a purely offline device. I had no interest in connecting a lock that protects my items to the internet, but this item allows you to create convenience for yourself, your family, tenants, overnight guests, everybody. Since it's easy to use, easy to install, and easy to program? This gets a solid recommendation from me. Just make sure you actually want an electronic door lock on the door(s) you choose before purchasing.
