I had purchased a Toshiba - Multiformat DVD-R/RW/+R/+RW Recorder/VCR Combo with HD Upconversion a few years ago from Best Buy. The sales people gave me all this hype about the Geek Squad Protection plan and I wasn't having it but finally crave in and got it. After a year and half of use the Toshiba Unit went bad and I took it in for service. It was going to cost more to fix it and the rep noted that it was still under a Protection Plan and said I should just simply replace the unit for another one. Thankfully Best Buy had the same unit still in stock and the only cost to me was buying another 4 year Protection Plan from Geek Squad for the same model that was brand new. It's worth it and I'm glad that I got the Protection Plan. In fact with all my major purchases with Best Buy now I get the Geek Squad Protection!

Lets face it. some of us are just plain hard on devices. We use them incessantly and get grumpy when they wear out... That is why this is a great adder to any moderate to higher priced purchase. Less to worry about and in the long run it is cheaper than buying from scratch all the time.

I always buy the protection plan with any electronic purchase. I rather be safe than sorry.
