My Apple Macbook Pro died after using it in college for 4 years. Being a software developer/light gamer/movie and video editing aficionado, I knew I needed something a little more powerful than my previous device. My heart was originally set on the Dell XPS model (which is priced at over $2200). I was about to make the purchase of the Dell when I saw this Alienware right next to it. What really made me go "woah!" was the blue, back lit keyboard. What kind of laptop has a blue back lit keyboard?! I closed the laptop and examined the body of it, the whole thing screaming "futuristicly modern". Examining the specs, I realized that this machine could do everything I needed it to do and more! By the time the sales associate came by, I pointed to the laptop and said "This. This one." So far I've had the laptop for a week and it runs very smoothly. Alienware has done an amazing job on this laptop. I have tried running games like "The Witness" and "The Sims 4" on it and they both run perfectly with the highest settings. My favorite part of the entire laptop is the OLED touch screen! You can tell Alienware went all in on this beautiful screen and it really shows. Windows 10 has not looked more beautiful. Overall, if you're looking for a new laptop, and your priorities are speed/discrete graphics, then I would go with this one hands down. The back of the laptop does open up for expanding memory and RAM as well, so don't let the 500 gb storage hold you back. Highly, highly recommended!

This machine is light enough to travel. With a 13 inch OLED it is perfect for traveling in your backpack or suitcase unlike the 17 or 19 inch gamers. The oled touch screen has impeccable picture quality. The performance is phenomenal. The only additions needed: 32 GB of RAM (yes 32GB of DDR3L works) instead of 8. A SSD drive in place of the 500 GB hybrid drive. I would still give it five stars out of five because this machine is upgradeable and scalable by replacing drives and memory much too dismay of the numerous laptops that cannot change components anymore. The installed equiptment gets you into the game for a great price. The demanding user can upgrade to their liking.

After 1 month with this product, I am totally satisfied. While it is no longer the state-of-the art, gaming performance is excellent and should remain so for the reasonable lifespan of a laptop. For reference, I have played Civilization 6, XCOM 2, and Fallout 4 on this machine. All run smooth and stable at high graphics settings. But, I am most impressed with the thermal characteristics. Naturally, it generates a lot of heat, but its spreads it out and dissipates it very well. My last gaming laptop had distinct hot-spots that made we worry about component failures in those areas. I know that the lack of a solid state drive while be off-putting to some. But, I use this for travel and the extra space for media is more than worth it to me. I prefer the smaller overall size for the same reason.
