Customers highly value the Back-UPS Connect 84VA Battery Back-Up System's long battery life, which allows it to run equipment for extended periods and offers the added benefit of a removable battery for charging portable devices. Its compact size and ease of use are also frequently praised. However, some customers find the price to be relatively high and note that the power supply may be insufficient for multiple or high-power devices. The system's suitability depends on individual power needs and budget.

Probably the best looking battery backup/surge protector out there. Not an eyesore in front of you on the desk, all day long. Very well designed, small, compact, with removable lithium battery having additional usefulness for charging portable devices. Helpful LED lights on the unit could be dimmer, they are too bright at close range. Unfortunately compactness also means, in this instance, limited power supply adequate only for a couple or three low power devices such as routers and modems. For that purpose it appears to work quite well. Somewhat pricey though at list price. Would like to see a similarly designed device with considerably higher power enough to backup a regular desktop computer.

I had been looking for a dedicated battery backup for my cable modem/router in case the power went out. I have other battery backups for everything from lights to charging cell phones, but wanted something that would automatically power my internet connection. I first looked at your standard lead acid systems for desktops, but have had bad luck with them in the past (eg, that annoying beeping). That's when I found this APC unit. The fact that it's lithium ion, and I could get additional batteries was very appealing. It also had gotten decent reviews. I picked one up at Best Buy, and decided to try it in a simulated "power outage". I was able to get about 75 minutes out of one battery with it connected to a Cisco cable modem, D-Link DIR-880L router, and my Panasonic cordless phone. The router had 7 wireless devices connected to it that were constantly running. I kept using the internet during this time. I know others have gotten 2+ hours with this model, but I was happy with my runtime considering the load I was putting on it. This unit is extremely easy to setup and use. My only qualm is how loose the battery sits. It would be easy to knock loose if you have a cat, dog, young kids, etc. Overall, I would highly recommend this APC battery backup.

I have a century Link dsl modem router and this keeps it powered for hours during a power outage. End up using every winter when we lose power. It's lasted as long as 4 hours once and still had juice left. Depends on your routers power draw but for low powered devices it is worth It to keep them running.
