This was the last piece for my 7.1 surround sound system and I did my research. BIC kept coming up in reviews as the top sub-woofer manufacturer with no close second in it's price range and the top 3 in reviews were all BIC! (F-12, PL-200 and the V1220) So I picked the cheapest-for $180I got a huge 12" down-firing sub with specs and sound equal to or better than subs going for $600. I'm still breaking it in but It shakes the house! Take your time and play around with the crossover, phase and volume settings to set the sound to your taste. This is an excellent audiophile mid-range sub-woofer at a bargain basement price!

I got this as a 2nd sub for my sound studio. The other is a 10" Kenwood front firing sub. Another review here said you need a 20ft+ room to really appreciate its power. Mines 16ft and they are right, except my Denon amp allows you to set speaker distances. With two subs and phasing options on each I was able to set the position at which the two waves coincide enabling a chest thumping sound exactly where you want it.. So at 20 ft, yes, the sub kicks. Stuff off of my neighbors wall.... love it. With RCA and powered inputs/throughputs, Dolby / crossover manipulators, phasing and its own output level it is versatile enough and powerful enough to enhance your large room setup. It also will blend in well with a (9" and 10" woofer) studio monitor driven 5.2 surround in conjunction with a fron firing sub. It wasn't hard to get it all tuned in either. I am hoppy to have purchased it. More so because of the price tag. Only "issue" is my worry that the small toggle switches could break. SO trat it well, and it will do the same for you.

This sub replaces an older 8" that was distorting when hitting lows at higher volumes. When playing both music and television content, the v1220 does a great job of producing a clear, deep bass with no distortion. It's a good size for the room it is in, which is about 150 sq. ft. I am very happy with this purchase and looking forward to enjoying this sub for a long time.
