BIC V1220-Lotta "woof" from this sub-woofer

This was the last piece for my 7.1 surround sound system and I did my research. BIC kept coming up in reviews as the top sub-woofer manufacturer with no close second in it's price range and the top 3 in reviews were all BIC! (F-12, PL-200 and the V1220) So I picked the cheapest-for $180I got a huge 12" down-firing sub with specs and sound equal to or better than subs going for $600. I'm still breaking it in but It shakes the house! Take your time and play around with the crossover, phase and volume settings to set the sound to your taste. This is an excellent audiophile mid-range sub-woofer at a bargain basement price!

    2nd sub takes 1st place

I got this as a 2nd sub for my sound studio. The other is a 10" Kenwood front firing sub. Another review here said you need a 20ft+ room to really appreciate its power. Mines 16ft and they are right, except my Denon amp allows you to set speaker distances. With two subs and phasing options on each I was able to set the position at which the two waves coincide enabling a chest thumping sound exactly where you want it.. So at 20 ft, yes, the sub kicks. Stuff off of my neighbors wall.... love it. With RCA and powered inputs/throughputs, Dolby / crossover manipulators, phasing and its own output level it is versatile enough and powerful enough to enhance your large room setup. It also will blend in well with a (9" and 10" woofer) studio monitor driven 5.2 surround in conjunction with a fron firing sub. It wasn't hard to get it all tuned in either. I am hoppy to have purchased it. More so because of the price tag. Only "issue" is my worry that the small toggle switches could break. SO trat it well, and it will do the same for you.

This sub replaces an older 8" that was distorting when hitting lows at higher volumes. When playing both music and television content, the v1220 does a great job of producing a clear, deep bass with no distortion. It's a good size for the room it is in, which is about 150 sq. ft. I am very happy with this purchase and looking forward to enjoying this sub for a long time.

Surprise of the quality of this subwoofer when you consider the price is very cheap. This is a great rock and roll subwoofer.

I didn't like the first one I bought, so I bought another. We have a large, rectangular family room (30'x15'), with 12' ceilings, two 9' open doorways and one end opening into our kitchen. Lousy room for acoustics! Also, my wife made me put in in-wall and in-ceiing speakers, so the sound was severely compromised from a previous Klipsch surround sound system. These subwoofers are part of my new 7.2 music system, and really do the job. I hide them in corners behind upholstered chairs, and the cabinet color (more dark charcoal than black, matches my wife's "punch" wall, which is also charcoal gray. She's happy - I'm happy. Calibrating the subs with my Yamaha receiver (V773) was a little challenging, and I had to adjust the YPAO system manually to get more bass. Still more tweaking to do, but the sound is great. We watched "Iron Lady" last night, and when the IRA bomb exploded near PM Thatcher's hotel room, my wife nearly had a heart attack, and it woke up my old dog on the other side of the house. LIke the fact, that the subs go inactive after the receiver is turned off. Tickled pink so far.

Got this for the system in the garage(24'x21'). It adds very nice lows to the sound. The main left and right handle the mid bass. I like it so much I am thinking of buying a second for my main system in the living room to make it a 7.2 setup. I like the down firing, gives a nice omnidirectional sound.

I been using this powered sub for years and recently I upgraded to a 5.2 setup and "wow kaboom" super awesome. Two excellent BIC America's together is a experience that every hi-fi home theater system owner should truly experience.

I read a lot of reviews on this speaker, comparing it to others. There were many good reviews. This subwoofer has met all of my expectations, it has plenty of power. The base fills the entire room, in short, I think this subwoofer is outstanding! If you want a great subwoofer for a good price, the Bic America 12" is the one to buy.

Very reasonable price for a sub woofer. Throws out quite a bit bass and works well in concert with my Athene speakers. Solid construction with a number of different configuration settings on the back panel. Overall very satisfied at this point.

Wow!! The reviews are on point. Well done by BIC on this monster. Sub pounds. I really feel like I'm in a movie theater. I had a 1200 watt pioneer receiver so I'm getting full use of this. Also helps to have excellent L & R speakers. Highly recommend this sub. A little on large side but very easy to look past that for $200. Thank you BIC!!!

My son and friends have Sony and Klipsch units 10 and 12 inch. I have BIC America 10 and 12 inch units. The 10 inch is tremendous with pounding bass that fills a 25 by 30 foot room. I then purchased the BIC America 12 inch. I moved my 10 inch upstairs and put the 12 inch in our 25X30 room. My wife and I say that this 12 inch is way to much. I should have stayed with the 10inch. I have to turn down the 12 inch in order to properly complement Blue Ray 7.1 pounding movies. If your neighbors like bass they will hear it. I have no doubt this unit sounds off at least 18Hz. This unit offers very controlled bass.

You're going to have a really hard time finding a better sub at this price. It delivers. It's bigger than some of the other subs on the market, but you really can't get this kind of sound out of a tiny box.

Excellent sub for price and performance. I debated over and over before purchasing this sub. Skeptical about design and placement. I was going to go with a front firing sub for a 23 x 11 squared living room but at the last minute I decided on this one. Not disappointed @ all. Fills my entire room and then some with low end frequency not even turned up halfway on the sub. Using LFE input.

purchased this subwoofer to replace a JBL that had a annoying quirk of turning off during low passages in movies. This is a powerful sub, with clear lows. I have a fairly large room and this sub does pretty well. A good value for the price point.

This Subwoofer is complementing my KLH 4 way speakers that are powered by a pioneer receiver. When I had these speakers connected to my vintage Marantz, the bass shook the house, but the home theater oriented amplifier seems to cut too much bass from the front speakers, requiring a sub to fill the bottom end. Though only marginally louder than my friends 10 year old MTX sub, this woofer fills my needs for both music and movies, filling in the bottom end seamlessly with my large floor speakers. Now time to get another Marantz tube amp to really satisfy my musical needs.

Best Buy was able to price match twice so I definitely feel I purchased a very capable entry level sub. After doing a couple YouTube subwoofer sweeps and tests it will go down to the low advertised and still pumps air. I also bought the T series Polk speakers and I'm very glad I didn't buy their sub because this one easily surpasses it for less money. I love the lighter color of the veneer wood grain too. You will not go wrong with this sub!

I recently purchased this 12 inch subwoofer to compliment my 10 inch sony subwoofer to make my system full 7.2 it works well adds a decently deep tone to the action. I have had it for a month and no complaints to be had. 4 star because I know there is much better out there.
