If you watched this series on Amazon in years past, you'll have seen the High Res full version of the episodes as they are here in Blu-ray. Now that Amazon lost the rights to HBO, you CAN still buy the cloud based digital version on Amazon Prime BUT, they are NO LONGER these high res, full content versions!!! You will end up with the LOW RES very grainy episodes that have a lot of content trimmed for the US Audience (I believe to allow for more commercial time). If you buy the Standard Res Non Blu-ray DVDs, you get those same LOW RES versions that on a large HD TV are almost unwatchable. For that reason, if you want a great picture and the FULL episodes as originally broadcast, you have to find a copy of THIS SET. It was produced in 2013 and I am pretty sure it is out of print. You might find a listing for this set on Amazon, but there aren't any new ones available there and the price is much higher. Trust me, if these are still available here on Best Buy, Get them now before they are gone forever... You don't have a TARDIS. You cannot travel back in time to get them when they are no longer available. Last, i'll say this, in the midst of this insane world wide pandemic and political unrest these days, watching the first episode "Rose" was the first big smile I've had in over a month. Thank you for this Best Buy!

As someone who only just recently got into Doctor Who, I was happy to see this season on Blu-ray. Since it was filmed in SD, it has been upscaled to HD for this release; the picture quality is easily superior to that of the DVD release, and the audio has most definitely benefited from the jump from the DVD's Dolby Digital track to the Blu-ray's DTS-MasterHD track. I look forward to seeing series 2-4 released on Blu-ray sometime in the future. I know there are fans who gripe that since this season and also series 2-4 was filmed in SD that it doesn't need a Blu-ray release, but I disagree solely for the fact of the jump in audio quality (going from lossy DVD audio to uncompressed Blu-ray audio) and also for the inclusion of the original DVD bonus features as well. That being said, Christopher Eccelston is my least favorite doctor, so I was very happy to pick this season up for only $35. I don't think it's worth the full price of $67 due to the fact of it being upscaled picture and no new bonus material, but if you see it on sale it's definitely worth picking up and adding to, or starting, your Doctor Who Blu-ray collection.

Nine is by far my favorite doctor. It’s such a shame he didn’t more episodes. This is a great season, a great introduction to the modern Doctor Who series
