Great Robot, but needs a few more tweaks
|Posted .Ecovacs has released its new robot, the DeeBot Ozmo T8+. This robot vacuum has the ability to auto-empty itself after vacuuming. The contents of the package include: T8+ robot, home base unit, plastic "ramp" extension (for carpet location), detachable power cord, 2 base dust bags (1 comes in the base), 2 robot air filters (1 already installed), 5 disposable mop pad attachments, 1 washable/reusable mop pad attachment, 2 extra spinning side brushes, and instruction booklet/warranty papers. 1-yr warranty provided. PROS: -------- * Setup is a breeze, both in snapping on parts to the robot and in setting up the home base. * It has a really great object avoidance system. I put a bowl of water for our dog in one of the areas and the robot easily went around it without bumping into it which would have caused it to spill. Of course it also has sensors for stairs so it won't roll off the edge. * The motor/blower on the vacuum is extremely quiet on default settings, even on carpet. We have a carpeted closet off of our bathroom, and when the robot goes into the closet, it can barely be heard from the bedroom. If it's running in another room than the one you're in, you will be pleasantly surprised how quiet it is, especially on hardwoods. If you have bumpy tile, you may hear quite a few thuds in this case. * The auto-empty feature cleans out the bin at the home base very well. It takes around 15-20 seconds for it to clean out each time a cycle completes. * You can create AREAS after mapping is complete which makes it easy to pick certain areas to vacuum if the whole floor doesn't need cleaning. In addition, you can square off an area manually in case you only want an area done that isn't already defined. This is a good feature if you are unable to separate areas initially (which I was unable to do - separate the dining from the living due to the shape of our layout). * The app provides multi-floor mapping. If you need to move it to another floor, and if both floors are mapped, then cleaning areas on different floors should be simple. Keep in mind that if you move to another floor, you should put the home base in the same location as when you mapped the floor. If you move the base after a floor has been mapped, there is a strong possibility it will get lost and not find the base at the end of the cycle or clean the wrong section(s). * The removable dust bag in the base is easy to remove and replace when bag fills up. You will get a notification when bag is full (and then you get to buy more bags). * It does well in avoiding LIVE movement, including small dogs. As the vacuum was traveling, my dog would get in the way at times, and it would maneuver around the dog or wait for him to move out of the way. As stated before, object avoidance is one of the high points of this robot. * Good overall app notifications and interactions for the user. Quite a few options to pick from including cleaning logs, zooming in on area maps, scheduling cleaning times/areas, and maintenance reminders. If a robot software update is needed (mine needed one out of the box), it's self-explanatory to use via the app. You can also select a room cleaning sequence to have the robot clean specific areas in a specific order in addition to controlling the number of times the robot cleans the area (either 1x or 2x), suction power, and water flow (for mopping). There are 3 vacuum speeds (and off for mopping) and 4 water flow settings. If no mopping is needed, then keep the reservoir empty. * Manually taking out the robot's dust bin is simple and easy to clean whatever the home base doesn't suck out. It will still need to be cleaned from time to time but the home base does do quite a good job autocleaning the bin/filter. CONS: -------- * Something needs to be done regarding the very thick power cable. It is very similar to one that you would find on the back of a desktop computer. It's about 1/4-inch in diameter. In addition, on the back of the base, there is a place where you can wind up remaining slack in your cord; however, if you are already near an outlet, there is not enough room to loop all that thick cable without it coming off (see picture). This product needs a MUCH thinner and more maneuverable cable. * No one that I know wants to be forced to buy vacuum accessories. I don't either. With the base, you must buy additional dust bags after they fill up from the numerous dumpings of the robot. There really needs to be a way to empty a container instead of having to buy more bags. Without an usable bag, the auto-empty feature is useless and won't work. Order more bags = $$. From what I gather, it takes about 30 trips before the dust bag fills up, but that may depend on how dirty your place is. * The robot has a difficult time taking the "best route" back to the home base after cleaning an area. It sometimes gets caught under chairs/tables instead of going the most clear route. It has a map built-in, so it should know to go around obstacles instead of getting lost for a few minutes before finally getting to the base. * When sent to clean an AREA or CUSTOM area in the app, it vacuums on the way there which causes battery power to lessen quicker. I don't understand that function since it doesn't vacuum on the way back to the home base when its done with an area. In addition, it doesn't take the most direct (or clearest) path to the room you select. It even stops and vacuums partial areas of other rooms before it gets to the destination. This is shown on one of my app screenshots. You can see in the green area, it starts at the base, goes through the kitchen, but cleans part of the kitchen (notice the path has irregular path on the way to the utility). To me, this should be able to be fixed with a firmware update. If it's not vacuuming on the way there, then this won't happen. * The app has frequent "Data acquisition timeouts. Pull to Refresh" errors when trying to connect to the robot. I am using the latest Samsung S20 Ultra and Fold phones.I am not certain how Apple performs. * During both the mapping and vacuum-after-mapping, the robot continues to be very sporadic when choosing a path. It goes in circles in the middle of the floor at times and doesn't make the best of cleaning path decisions. It all gets done, but could be done faster with a better logic. * The robot continues to have issues docking after cleaning has completed. Numerous times, it will line itself up to the home base, go up the ramp and appear to dock successfully... then it backs up and does it again. It has failed as many as 3 times in a row before docking successfully the 4th time. It's very random as the dock is in the same place each time. There are times in which it docks the 1st time. Another software update may be needed to fix this as well. * The app has a lack of "AREAS" available to the user to name each room. There is no "Custom" field unfortunately. So if you have a game room or a media room next to each other, for instance, you're out of luck. You'll have to name them something else. Here are the options: Living, Dining, Bedroom, Study, Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry, Lounge, Storeroom, Kids room, & Sunroom. An app update should fix this issue if they choose to correct. * Though the vacuum motor is incredibly quiet, if you are running the robot over a tile floor, it may be a bit noisy as the front plastic wheel hits all of the grooves between tiles. That can be noisy and annoying to some people especially if running on a floor above you. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------------------------------- * The robot auto-empties each time it is used. I'm not sure if this is good or bad, but there is no way to turn this off/on in the app. Perhaps the user could opt to only empty the bin once it is full instead of every time or maybe even 3/4 full. * I have wood/carpet in my house with a very limited area of tile (small bathroom)...so I did not use the mop function. It does come with a reusable mop pad and 5 disposables which is good. * Initial mapping of a 1500 sq-ft area could take as long as 8-10 hours, depending on complexity of furniture, rugs, etc. It vacuumed/mapped on its 1st trip for 3 hours before requiring a recharge which took about 3.5 hours, then it completed the rest of the mapping. The instruction manual states it can take up to 6.5 hours to fully charge. All-in-all, the robot took 8.5 hours to map 1485 sq-ft. This includes kitchen, nook, utility, study, master bed/bath, 2 closets, dining, living, hall, and main entry. There are 3 area rugs in those locations and 100% carpet in the master bedroom. * The brushes/filters have to be replaced after so much use. After nearly 19 hours of cleaning, my side "spinner" brushes are at 91%, main brush at 96%, and filter at 89%. You can gauge about how often you might have to clean/replace your robot parts, but replacements being needed are definite. * We have a non-shedding dog. If you have shedding dogs/cats, then your experience may be slightly worse than mine since we didn't have as much to pick up hair-wise. For shedding animals, your vacuum will work quite a bit harder and longer. * It has 2 spinning side brushes instead of one. These brushes rotate towards the front from the sides in order to help feed dirt and trash to the middle of the robot. CONCLUSION: =========== This is my 2nd vacuuming robot. I have one of another high-end popular brand robot which is 2 years old, and this one outshines the other one in most areas. My biggest issues with the Deebot are having to purchase more bags for the home base unit, and the erratic paths it takes while on the way and doing jobs, even after mapping has already occurred. I think some of the logic in the software just needs a little adjusting to improve the path that it takes. It's definitely one of the top robot vacuums out there that I have seen. It just needs a little more work to be near perfect but still great.

Self emptying feature did not work
|Posted .Here is the summary of my findings. The provided manual is very basic even if it has many pages, does not go too deep into functionalities. Helps with the initial basic features, not much beyond. Connecting to WiFi can be problematic. Based on experience dealing with two units (had one returned). Robot is quiet, does not bump into things, cleans well. I only vacuumed, did not mop. The AI mapping works fine, you can see in the app where the robot went. The app is okay but not as good as it could be. I say that because I have another unit from a different manufacturer so I have a point of reference. The robot did clean some rooms halfway, it came back later to finish them. That was kinda unexpected. The battery lasted well to clean about 1,500 sf and still had about 30% of juice left. The self-emptying feature did not work for me. The station did vacuum the robot but very little dirt has passed from the robot to the station’s bag. This is based on two separate identical robots, neither one of them was able to self-empty itself. I did work with the support extensively, still no cigar. To summarize, the robot vacuums well but the self emptying feature does not seem to work, at least for me. Here is the long and detailed review. Nicely packed, the box was bigger and heavier than expected. All packaged very well. You will get extra dust bag for the self emptying station, a second set of side side brushes and several mops. The associated app has some basic navigation issues. I am in the Apple environment and there is no back button on Apple devices (as there is one on Android). After doing a basic setup in the app like connecting to WiFi and adding the robot the app was forcing me to start the robot to create the floor. I was not ready to do that at the moment but the app would not allow me to decline the offer and there was no step back. I had to force close the app and restart it again for the prompt to go away. Similarly as the app was installed at the same time on all my other Apple devices, when I started the app on my next device I was forced by the app to start creating the floor map without the option to decline it. I had to again close the app and restart it again in order for the prompt to go away. There were also some initial network connection issues, did not properly connect to my WiFi, though I have succeeded after several attempts. Very quiet, relatively to what I had purchased before from a different manufacturer. I used an app to check the noise level while the Deebot was cleaning and got a readout of about 59 decibels next to the unit and about 50 decibels when standing about 6 feet away from the robot. That was on the setting called Normal. On the top setting called Max+ the sound increased by about 5 decibels. Still relatively quiet. The primary functionality that can set one robot from another is the AI mapping. What the T8+ pleasantly surprised me with was that it did not bump into anything. No hitting walls or furniture. It acted like a cool, careful cat, when approaching an obstacle like a wall it would slow down a little and then quickly turn around without touching the wall. Still covered the area, did not miss a spot, but there was no hitting. When cleaning around the big round legs of the coffee table it would swoop around it without touching it but with an almost perfect accuracy without leaving any visible space between the robot and the table leg. Another surprising feature was that when I was running it the very first time, when the robot builds the map of the floor layout, it had most of the floor laid out very early on, not like my other robot that needed to physically get to the area in order to include it in the map. The path appeared to be very systematic, without a haphazard left and right that I saw with other robots. Another interesting feature of mapping was that on the blue colored floor map I could see white lines which indicated where the robot actually went so far. That helped me better understand the progress status as I could see where the robot went so far versus other areas not yet cleaned. What did surprise me though was that it cleaned some areas halfway, then left for another room and came back to it later on. That was unexpected. The real issue and potentially a major concern was the self emptying feature failure. This next generation of robots suppose to empty itself into the station so you don’t have to clean the robot yourself after each cleaning. Sound promising. You only replace the dust bag in the station every 30 days or so as they say. Unfortunately for me I was unable to make it work. First I was working with the manufacturer, provided all the details and sent a video of it. Very little did move from the robot’s dust bin the the station’s dust bag. I have tried with them a number of possible steps to solve it, but nothing worked. I have wood floors and they are mostly clean. Just the usual dust accumulation. We have two small dogs but they do not shed. No cats. Still the dust would not move from the robot to the station. Very little would pass through and most of it would stay in the robot’s dust bin. They sent me a replacement unit to solve the issue. Unfortunately the second unit was still unable to empty the robot’s dust bin. In conclusion there is a lot to like about this robot. It is quiet, vacuums well, does not bump into objects, the battery lasts long enough to cover larger areas and there is decent amount of features that can be controlled via the app. On the other side the initial WiFi setup could be challenging, the manual seems very basic and the self empty feature does not seem to work (again had two units, same issue). I only had it for several days but my feelings about it are mixed.

All in one personal cleaner.
|Posted .Pros - Great suction. I've had a cheaper robot vacuum before this and it missed a ton of things like pet hair, crumbs and dust/dirt piles. With the Deebot T8+ this is a thing of the past for me. This beast picks up every little thing thats laying around. I dont have to constantly see where it is and what it has missed. Definitely provides a peace of mind that it'll clean up the way you expect a vacuum to. - Mopping - Wow. So this was an unexepcted feature I didn't think would have such an impact since you are to use water, but I'm pleasantly surprised at what just using water can accomplish on lamenent wood floor. The fact that it mops and vacuums simulantously just ensures you're getting the best clean. It has sensors so it can recognize if its going to hit carpet or a rug to stop mopping. This isn't a feature I was able to test yet but it's advertised to do so and I look forward to testing this out when we get our eventual rug for our home. - Fairly queit for the type of power it posseses . The loudest point you will get to is when it docks back up the charging station and self cleans into the vacuum bag. - Packaging/Unboxing. This thing was pakaged great. Easy to remove, easy to set up and easy directions. I was a little worried when I saw how much was involved as my previous robot vacuum was so basic, but to my surprise it was a seemless set up and the steps were concise and to the point. We had this beauty up and running within an hour after it fully charged. - App/Mapping. Easy to use App, feature rich. Really neat seeing it map out your house and seeing its path. The first time using it the vacuum was kind've all over the place and didn't following a streamlined trail, however after its second run it was pretty cool to see how smart the tech is and seeing how it learned from its first run and was able to ride a better path its second run, making it run more effecient. The first run it took more time in less square foot to clean than the second run did due to learning the area floor layout of my home. The app also shows you when you should change certain accessories like the filters, brushes, etc. Cons - Mopping is more beneficial when you use the high setting. If you use a setting less than that I feel it doesn't clean as well as the high setting. - Wish you could use floor cleaner, like Bonomo or something, to provide even better cleaning. Maybe you can attempt but Im not sure if its worth the risk. - Wasn't expecting the charging station to be as big as it is but thats because it also is self cleaning so have to take the pro with the con. - No manual control to move the vacuum , at least from what I can find. Our previous vacuum came with a remote that you can control the direction of the vacuum. Maybe this can be done in the app but I haven't been able to figure it out. I will not deduct a star because this just could be my own ignorance . Other toughts.. I really can't say many bad things about this robot. Its efficient, cleans great and keeps learning. The dual mop/vacuum is so great and a big help in killing two birds with one stone. Between animals foot prints, hair and dirt being kicked around, the T8+ really lifts the burden of doing all this manually. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone. We don't have the largest foot print for our main area that we use this in but I can't imagine how amazing having this would be in an even larger living area. If youre in a market for an all in one robot vacuum, look no further. Give the T8+ a try and I dont think you'll regret it.

Best Way to Vacuum...Without Lifting a Finger
|Posted .---- Summary ---- Pros: - Nearly perfect vacuuming - Customizable cleaning - Accurate floor mapping - Obstacle avoidance - Self-emptying dustbin - Long-lasting battery - Quiet operation - Feature-packed app - Effective filter Cons: - Moderate mopping performance ---- Review ---- Design: The DEEBOT OZMO T8+ is dark grey in color with a sleek look. Some of it is a shiny material and other parts have a matte finish. At just over three and a half inches tall, it fits under most of my furniture with ease, getting the hard to reach areas that I often neglect. It has a TrueMapping Distance Sensor that protrudes slightly from the top and an AUTO Mode button beside it that can be pressed to initiate automatic cleaning (custom cleaning can be initiated through the mobile app). The button also acts as an indicator light. It’ll either be off, solid white, flashing white, solid red, or flashing red, depending on the scenario. With the top cover lifted, there’s a Wi-Fi indicator light, reset button, power switch, and multifunction cleaning tool (for maintenance). There’s also access to the auto-empty dust bin and the filter. The front has an anti-collision bumper and multiple sensors. On the bottom, there are additional sensors, the main brush with a release button for maintenance, two side brushes, wheels, charging contacts, a water outlet, and a reservoir. Included with the robot is the Auto-Empty Station, which has an infrared signal emitter to help the DEEBOT dock, auto-empty inlets where the dustbin’s contents go when the station is initiated, a dust bag under the top lid, and an indicator light. The power cord wrap that’s built into the back is a nice touch that I appreciate because it helps with hiding the power cord. Both the DEEBOT and Auto-Empty Station are very well designed. Setup: Under the top cover is a paper insert that has the steps to get started. I found them to be helpful and easy to follow. Basically, all that’s required is to remove the protectors, install the side brushes, place the Auto-Empty Station in the desired location, put the DEEBOT on the station, power it on, download the app, scan the QR code on the DEEBOT, then finish the on-screen instructions. Within minutes, my DEEBOT was ready to go. Setup was seamless from start to finish. I always appreciate an easy setup process. Performance: The DEEBOT is impressively efficient. It doesn’t just roam aimlessly and change directions when it bumps into a wall or object. It maps out the room, moves in straight lines when it makes sense to do so, knows where it has been, and covers nearly every inch of the floor. It’s even able to make it over a somewhat high transition strip that’s between my laundry room and living room. I’ve inspected its work after multiple uses and couldn’t spot anything significant left behind. My wife and I have a cat, so we were hoping this would help pick up hair throughout the week instead of it accumulating prior to our normal cleaning day, and it does a fantastic job of doing that. It’s also helpful for the inevitable kitchen messes after preparing/eating meals. Looking at the clean floor after it’s done and seeing how full the dustbin gets is quite satisfying. The Auto-Empty Station eliminates the need to manually empty the dustbin after each use, but I do have to occasionally check the dustbin because pet hair sometimes gets caught. When the DEEBOT transitions to carpet, it recognizes the difference and increases suction automatically. Even with the higher suction engaged, it still operates quietly. The only time it gets loud like a full-size vacuum is when the dustbin is emptying at the Auto-Empty Station. A lot of our flooring is hardwood, but several rooms are carpeted, and the cleaning effectiveness on the carpet is just as impressive as it is on the hardwood. I wouldn’t say it can replace a standard vacuum, but it certainly helps keep my carpeted rooms cleaner than they’d normally be. Whether I tell the DEEBOT to just do certain rooms or the entire first floor of my house, the battery lasts a long time. On average, it can get up to three hours of runtime on one charge. The mopping capability for hard floors is a great bonus, but it’s not perfect. As I mentioned, a large portion of my flooring is hardwood, so having the mop helps keep the hardwood cleaner than just a vacuum would. However, mopping just involves a wet cloth getting dragged across the floor as the DEEBOT is also vacuuming, so I wouldn’t say it’s deep cleaning by any means. Although it’s better than vacuuming alone, I wish the mopping cloth spun or vibrated to scrub the floor a little more than it does. My other wish is that it was acceptable to use a cleaning solution instead of just water. The instructions specifically recommend purified water. There’s no mention of a cleaning solution, so I’ve just assumed it’d be best to stick with water, in case using a cleaning solution somehow causes damage. Despite those wishes, I still like the mopping capability because it does a pretty good job of preventing grime buildup on the floor. Overall, this DEEBOT has the smarts and performance to deliver nearly perfect vacuuming, but I think the mopping performance is just moderate. App Features: General controls, like starting, pausing, or stopping a cleaning job can all be done in the app. Additionally, there are plenty of more advanced features available in the app as well, such as cleaning schedules, a cleaning sequence (order in which rooms will be cleaned), the ability to select a specific room or area to be cleaned, virtual boundaries, adjustable vacuum power or water flow level, and more. If you have Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant devices, the DEEBOT can even be controlled with your voice. It’s a feature-rich app that makes the DEEBOT experience both user friendly and convenient. Verdict: Where the DEEBOT OZMO T8+ falls short is mopping. While it’s cool to have a robot vacuum that mops at the same time, I think the word “mop” should be loosely used in this case. It’s more like a wipe. I might eventually try the add-on mopping accessory with high-frequency vibration that can be purchased separately, but I wish that was already an included feature and that cleaning solution could be used instead of just water. I think this DEEBOT is mainly designed to be a vacuum though, so with that in mind, there’s no denying that the DEEBOT OZMO T8+ is an innovative and effective robot vacuum. It accurately maps out the floor, knows where it’s been and where it still needs to go so that a spot doesn’t get missed and time isn’t wasted. The feature-rich app enables highly customizable cleaning, like schedules, virtual boundaries, or even the ability to tell it a specific area within a room to go clean. The icing on the cake is the included Auto-Empty Station that empties the dustbin automatically after each cleaning job. I’m happy to report that the robot vacuuming experience has been nearly perfect and for that, it deserves my recommendation and a five-star, “Excellent” rating.

This is the best vacuum bot that I've seen!
|Posted .So, we already have a previous Deebot model, but got lazy with using it. Our biggest issue with it was the overall thickness, due to the sensor height on top. It was always getting hung under things and we'd have to go to "rescue" it. The new T8+ model seemed slimmer, overall and most noticeably, the sensor on top didn't see to be as thick. So, we thought we'd give it a go and definitely glad we did! I'm going to go ahead and say that this an awesome vacuum bot and I'll probably stay with the Ecovacs brand. It has TONS of features, which all work great. The only feature I was expecting and was missing was the ability to talk to your pets via the on-demand live video stream from the T8 AIVI model. Given this was the T8+, I made the mistake of "assuming" it was a given for this model, as well. Nope, it's not there. Too bad, as I was super hyped for this feature. Another thing I noticed. I already had the Ecovacs app installed on my iPhone 11 Pro Max, which I used with my then-current Deebot model. However, this one requires the newer Ecovacs Home app. Yeah, it can be a little confusing in the naming...one for the older bots and one for the newer. Couldn't they have just combined everything into a single app? This isn't a negative in any way though, just an observation. Unboxing of the T8+ model was a nice experience. Everything was packed neatly and there was no excess waste. The box is nice and premium, as well! It was super easy and quick from unboxing to getting it on the charger. Maybe 20 min, tops (using the quick start guides)? What I LOVE about this model is the use of the auto-empty dirt bin. There's a bag pre-installed and you get an extra one. Each bag supposedly lasts for about 30 days. I'm not sure if this is when using it once a week, twice a week, or what. I did look up the bag, however...as it didn't seem to be a standard vacuum bag. They're $19.99 for 3x on Ecovacs website, under the accessories section. Also, the main brush appears to have a 300hr lifespan and the side brushes, around 150. I've not tested or used the mopping option, as our house is a mix between carpet and wood. I would like to try the mop feature in the future, once I get used to it and more comfortable with how it works. I'm not going to lie - at first, it can be a little intimidating. Setting up the bot via the app, connecting to the network and such was super easy. We had random issues with our first bot, but this one had ZERO problems. Everything worked the first time. Once set up, firmware updated and fully charged, we set it out for it's first adventure. Our first cleaning and mapping with the unit took a little over an hour (1 hour, 6 minutes). Once done, it went straight back to the base, emptied itself and started charging. I even received a notification via the app that cleaning was complete. I don't think I ever got this with the previous one! After a bit, we all noticed that the house just "felt" better. It smelled cleaner than usual and you could see all the lines in the carpet where it ran. It also did a superb job on the regular flooring, too! We will definitely be using this at least twice a week. I just need to get around to ordering some more bags soon. We are much happier with this model and other than the missing feature I mentioned above (checking in on your pets and such) - which in fairness, was NOT the manufacturers fault...it was mine - I give this unit a 5/5 stars. The hassle free setup was great, it ran perfect when used and had ZERO hang-ups and rescue moments. It definitely seems much lower maintenance than we were used to with our previous one. I'd recommend this model OR the T8 AIVI one for the remote check-in features with pets and such. Now...just need to teach the cat to ride it while it's in action!

The Auto Empty Bin is Worthless
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. The mapping of this robot vacuum is truly impressive with the lidar and other features it has. That's it, that's the only good thing. The mopping is subpar at best and can barely clean tiled floors. The bin itself in the robot vacuum is truly garbage. It has a really cheap plastic shroud that does something, no idea what, but it's made out of the cheapest plastic ever. The auto emptying holes on the vacuum are incredibly small and get clogged when it tries to auto empty the bin. Their suggestion for the bin getting clogged is to empty it by hand, which defeats the purpose of the auto empty station... When you contact tech support, you get very poor broken English that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's a shame that the product itself is so bad compared to the mapping ability of the device. The app is slow to respond, slow to load, and overall just a clone of another app from a competitor minus it working properly.

Debot T8+ good vacuum and avoids furniture & stuff
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This is my 4th ECOVAC debot. Each one has shown improvements. This is the best thus far. My biggest issue with past debots was bumping into furniture. This one does not bump into furniture .... unless the battery gets too low and it tries to return to the charging base quickly. The dual brushes that extended beyond the edge make perfect sweeps around the chair legs while the robot does not run into the chair legs. In the pic you can see the path the robot has taken. The circles are the robot going around the legs of chairs and tables. I have not used the mop feature, yet. I do recommend this robotic vacuum.

Does everything right and great value.
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Best overall value IMO if you have primarily hardwood floors. This does well on area rugs, great on hardwood (vac/mop combo) It vacuums great--navigation is on par with other similar lidar based bots. I have a roborock as well and its just as good--mapping is fast and it creates rooms pretty easily. The empty station works well and the built in mop is decent. I think this has more value than AIVI cam detection--much cheaper and I threw cords in front of it and it avoided them pretty well. (see pics below) For the savings I bought the pro mop ($99) which performs better than any all in one vac/mop period. In pics below you can see unit rolled up past cord slightly--then detected it and went around.

Q: Questionwhat is the difference between T8 AIVI and T8+?
Asked by Fo.
- A:Answer I was also looking for this since there isn't much information available anywhere on the T8 (non AIVI). Also the + stands for "Plus Auto-Empty Station" I finally google searched "Deebot T8 release date" and this is what I found on Ecovacs website about the difference between the T8 and T8 AIVI: "The DEEBOT T8 is designed to appeal to users who don’t need the camera monitoring function of the DEEBOT T8 AIVI but demand the best cleaning experience". This statement was taken from this article on Ecovacs website here: https://www.ecovacs.com/us/about-ecovacs/newsroom/official-news/ECOVACS-Expands-T8-Series

Q: Questionwhat is the difference between T8 AIVI and T8+
Asked by Fo.
- A:Answer The T8+ is actually the T8 with the Auto Dust bin The T8 uses TrueDetect 3D technology (lasers) for object avoidance. The T8 AIVI uses a camera for object avoidance. You can also view through the camera with your phone and talk to your pets via one way communication. It also builds a database of things to avoid.

Q: Question1) Does the T8+ allow for Google Voice control to send the bot to a SPECIFIC room? 2) Does the T8+ work with the OZMO™ PRO MOPPING SYSTEM? 3) What is the suction power of the T8+? Thank you!
Asked by PBusardo.
- A:Answer In regards to question #1 for voice command of specific rooms... I just tested it and it works, but it is limited. It can only voice command clean pre-determined labels (you cannot custom label a room) that you set through the app for areas of your home. Those labels are currently: kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, study, bathroom, laundry, lounge, storeroom, sun room, kids room. "Hey Google, tell deebot to clean the kitchen" successfully sent the vacuum to clean the kitchen only. What I don't know is what will happen if you have more than one bedroom or bathroom that you want to send it to. Alexa seems to have a more robust command library, but I don't have an Alexa to test it out with.

Q: QuestionI read the T8+ via Ecovacs: Due to the features of the TrueDetect 3D Smart Detection function, we recommend disabling the TrueDetect 3D Smart Detection function in the settings when the DEEBOT is cleaning on carpet. Does it not work on carpet??!!!
Asked by Photopro.
- A:Answer I did a review of the 3D vs the AIVI. I touched on the topic of the 3D on carpet. My experience was the 3D worked great on most carpet. It may have some issues on higher/thicker carpet. Such as shaggy rugs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOSzyaNgHso

Q: QuestionCan the clean base be used as a charger only? Also, does this come with the optional vacuum only head that lets you remove the roller brush?
Asked by ButtBurp.
- A:Answer Your first question, yes. The self emptying station can be used as purely a charger and will not run IF you leave the top of the bin open. So if you don't want the emptying station to run, leave the top open. Your second question. You can remove the roller brush if you want, but the unit does not come with a vacuum only head. We have delicate wood floors and DO NOT remove the brush and it hasn't caused any problems with the floors. The vacuum will run with the roller brush removed, how effective the cleaning is, I don't know.

Q: QuestionCan the vacuum map both stories of my house and be moved upstairs and downstairs as needed?
Asked by edbrowne31.
- A:Answer Theoretically it can, but it is so unreliable that you will have to remap each floor at each session. It is better to leave it handle just one floor and never ever move the charging station (not even 1/16 of inch). Pick another robot which manages maps better.

Q: QuestionIs the T8+ a model made specifically for BestBuy? I can't find this model in Ecovacs website.
Asked by HouseCleaner.
- A:Answer Hi, Please kindly note that that T8 and the T8+ are the same Deebot. But T8+ has OZMO Deebot T8 and the auto-empty bin and it is only exclusive in Best Buy. And the OZMO T8 is sold with the normal dust bin without the auto-empty bin.
