Since the switch only comes with the 2 joycons, getting this extra set lets me play party games like Mario Kart without having to rotate controllers as much. Although they are referb, but they look brand new. Hooray.

I was hesitant to buy items refurbished because you never know what you're going to get. However for the significant price cut and the return policy, I decided to try it out. I was definitely not disappointed! The controllers looked practically new with the exception of VERY minor signs of usage cosmetically. I did a small amount of cleaning and I would not have been able to tell the difference between new controllers and the ones that I received. Of course, your mileage may vary, but I would be definitely willing to try refurbished again for this product in the future!

I bought these refurbished to save a couple bucks, and it was completely worth it. Everything works great, no blemishes, and its great to have a second pair of joy cons!
