Let me start by saying that this is an Otome game. An Otome is a visual novel based game that is geared towards girls and usually has a dating sim element to it. Meaning that to play this game you have to read and select answers that determined the outcome of the story. For those of you who have played Hakuoki Demon of the Fleeting Blossom (PSP), Hakuoki Stories of the Shinsengumi (PS3), or Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi (3DS), this is the basically the same game but with new characters and new routes added. So some of the characters are going to have the same stories as in other games. So it might be a bit repeated. However with the addition of 3 new characters and new routes for pervious unplayable characters there is plenty of new things to make this game feel new again. It is well worth the price since there are going to be 12 playable routes and mostly like some unlock-able extras. If you are a fans of the serious or just looking for good story I highly recommend Hakuoki Kyoto Winds. If you like this game you will also like Code Realizes: Guardians of rebirth, Norn9: Var Commons, Period Cube, and Collar x Malice.

This is NOT a typical game because the person controlling the story does not have a first and third person view. This game is more, like a point and click well done storybook in my opinion. It has nice looking anime style drawing, etc. The series has been around for a while so no surprises outside of the lovely story and artwork.

This is just 1/2 of the story. Couldn’t recommend it before but now that both halves are out at $19, it’s worth a buy. Long live physical copies.
