Adds a USB 3.0 port and VGA. This is typically done through a much more expensive dock. Also, competitors usually only offer a usb 3.0 port in such docks, and/or either a Ethernet OR a vga, not both. Drivers have to be downloaded first. And problem with the surface pro is that when you plug in external it changed resolution to 16x9 1080p the surface native resolution, but that's more surface pro fault/windows scaling, than this product.

My Asus ultra book requires a USB Ethernet adapter, when using the wired adapter you loose the USB port for other uses. With this adapter I do not need to carry another adapter for an external monitor with high resolution dual display capabilities. This adapter uses a USB 3 port but also has one on the adapter so you do not loose the port. The video adapter is very easy to use and works great with my external monitor allowing different resolutions on each screen.
