These have to be the cutest wireless gaming headphones ever! Awesome design! The JLAB JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset are a child sized pair of wireless headphones, with an additional wired connection for gaming on the go. I have a 9 year old, and these headphones fit his head perfectly. He wears them for hours at a time, without any issues with comfort or distress. They are very comfortable, in fact, in his words, "these headphones get five stars from me!" They are compatible with XBOX, Playstation, Nintendo, iPhone, Android, Mac and PC computers. Incredibly versatile, bluetooth operation with optional 3.5mm jack connection. We tested them on a Nintendo Switch, and an iPhone 8. With a 22 hour+ playtime from a 3 hour charge, and a 10 min rapid charge netting another hour of gaming, you are able to be on the go for a good long while. My son uses the headphones each day on his drive to and from school, and has been known to leave them 'on' in the car, all day, and they are still ready to go for the drive home. Standby time is 400 hours, hence leaving them on isn't an issue here! The bright blue charging cord is great, so you don't get it mixed up with all of your other cords, matches the button accents on the headphones, and the AUX cable, with the adjustable volume controller when when you are wired to your gaming device. For piece of mind, these headphones are 'volume safe' meaning that they have a built-in volume regulator that limits the volume so it will never go past 85db, protecting your child's ears. And talking of ears, the design on the ear cups with a nod to gaming consoles, buttons and icons, that goes up and over the inside of the headband give these a unique aesthetic. Very cool! There is a retractible boom mic, that discretely hides away into the ear cup, a quick pull and there it is, and you are chatting with your friends online. There is a mute button, press the JLAB logo in the center of the right ear cup, if you need to cancel other gamers or chat to your mom! In our experience, there was zero latency between speaking and hearing, the sound was crystal clear and never had any problems. Very impressive in such a small size. The boom mic and mute button work whether the headphones are being used in wireless OR wired mode, which is a great feature, however the volume buttons on the ear cup only work in bluetooth mode. If you press and hold the volume up/down buttons at the same time for 1 second, you can switch the audio settings between a 'Gaming' EQ that enhances the vocals and and increases spacial awareness by adjusting the mid-high frequencies. If you press and hold again, you'll hear 2 beeps and you'll be in 'Music' EQ mode, that amplifies the bass, and heightens the vocals for a balanced music listening experience. Don't expect the bass to blow your head off, these are after all, a) geared for kids, and b) geared for gaming. All the controls are on the right hand ear cup, easy to reach and use, no problem for children's fingers. These headphones definitely have a very pleasing sound to them, are easy to pick up and use, and have a great long battery life. What more could a kid ask for!?! Add to that a 2 year warranty and you are good to go!

JLabs Audio has done an impressive job providing young gamers with a headset that includes every feature they need to game anywhere and with any device. I personally find great security in knowing that the volume cannot get above 85db (even when the source volume is maxed out along with the headphones (or aux cable) set to max volume). My son will often crank the volume up, so I personally don’t allow him to use any headphones that don’t limit the volume. It is refreshing to know that his ears are safe with the JBuddies. The Bluetooth functionality works well, but my son tends to use the aux cable most of the time so that connection is simple and so that we do not need to worry about battery life. I was disappointed to find that the physical cable connects to the headset via micro USB (both for charging and for the audio connection). For charging, the connection should have been USB-C which is more current and much easier for kids to plug in (as it makes a tighter connection and can be connected in any direction (unlike micro USB)). For audio, the connection should be a standard 3.5 mm jack. Because the Aux cable is Micro USB to 3.5mm, it is not nearly as easy to replace if it becomes damaged - which mine did immediately. (Either my Son or my Dog chewed on the cord which quickly tore. Not the fault of JLabs.) Both earcups fold inward to decrease the size for travel - although they do not come with any travel bag or case. The hinges are thick plastic which seem durable - but, the metal which holds the earcups to the headband could easily bend if they get crushed inside of a backpack, or sat on during travel. Overall, I absolutely recommend this headset for any young kid (although they are able to just barely fit an adult if needed in a pinch). They look stylish, are affordable, easy to use, have a great battery life, and have literally every feature short of Active Noise Cancellation. The boom mic is easy to adjust and is retractable so that it is always ready. If you are looking for headphones or a gaming headset for a younger kid - you absolutely cannot go wrong with the JBuddies. They will work for literally any music or gaming device and they have a fantastic warranty.

JLab Audio - JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset: The technology agnostic JBuddies are not just a nice gaining accessory for kids. They are easily justified because the flexibility to use across so many different technologies (mobile, phones, game consoles, PC/Macs) adds up to cost savings. Our youngsters are fickle about what game or activity they want to play with this week. I know these are labelled wireless, but our kids' variety of game consoles will work most predictably when we use the cable with the 3.5 mm jack and just plug it in to either the console or the controller. That jack enable the earphones and mic (if your consoles supports it). Even if your device doesn’t support the mic, the earphones still work nicely. You should consider wireless a solution especially for connecting to phones, tablets and computers and game consoles that have Bluetooth. You’ll surely find exceptions. SETUP and PERFORMANCE: What makes these “for kids”? They are sized for a smaller head, really light, comfortable and have a kid-oriented design. We’re easily going to get a few days of use before a charge is needed. And re-chargeable means we won’t be buying batteries weekly. For “plug-in” use, they appear to work without a charge. The earpieces are volume limited, so even on maximum, there’ll be no ringing ears. It seemed to me that the volume limiting was fairly aggressive. If you see your youngster has the volume all the way up, I wouldn’t worry. These are not bass heavy or as detailed like high quality headphones. The microphone is flexible enough to prevent breaking off and the headband is sufficiently robust if a real-world wrestling match breaks out mid-game. Your youngster is not going to let you use them. The AUX Console cord has a 3.5mm 4-contact pin to enable both listening and talking when that is enabled by the game. Our youngsters had no trouble just plugging in and playing their games. They loved the sound and were willing to listen to videos for extended periods. I wanted to explore the sound and connectivity so I took over "after hours." Using my MacBook Pro (and is probably similar to any PC): I tested using a FaceTime call. Both computer and phone calls rely on Bluetooth. Set up your Bluetooth (BT) by pressing that multipurpose round button on the JLab and then opening your BT settings on the Mac. JLab should appear in the SOUND PREFERENCE in both your INPUT and OUTPUT tabs. Select JLab in both tabs. Initiating the FaceTime call got me a picture through my Mac camera and a clear voice on the JBuddies. The caller couldn’t hear me until I unmuted my headset. Make sure the large MUTE button is OUT. I never saw a blue ring (mentioned in instructions), but my mute did work properly. Using my phone or IPad to make a conference call worked the same, but Setup was less fussy. I only needed to ensure I had a Bluetooth connection, and the conference call worked like a charm. Be sure to have the MIC BOOM pulled out as well as the MIC MUTE button out. Game use was just as easy. These are nice sounding headphones, so music, phone calls, and gaming were all very easy to live with. . . clear and balanced tone. My kids could easily use these headphones for music or movies, and for conference calls or gaming, they are perfect. SUMMARY: JLab Audio - JBuddies Play Gaming Wireless Headset offers a nice solution for game play across all our gaming platforms. Keeping sound contained to just the ears of our youngsters makes for a quieter living environment for the rest of us. As noted earlier, the volume limiting should eliminate any risk of hearing damage. As your youngsters explore conference calls or just want to play games on your phone, that’s all possible, too. The youngsters in our family love them.
