This toaster is different than any toaster I've owned. With electronic control and blue led indicator light it is very functional. It does a great uniform job toasting bread and bagels. You can cancel cycle at any time and it gently raises the toast. It is a little pricey.

The first two toasters did not toast bread evenly on each side. The results were almost as if I had pushed the 'BAGEL' button! I returned the 1st toaster to local Best Buy without any problems, and ordered the 2nd. That toaster did slightly better, but I've had much cheaper toasters do a better job. I decided to use the KitchenAid warranty provisions instead of traveling to our local Best Buy store. I called KitchenAid customer service for a replacement which was promptly received. Toaster #2 was returned with the prepaid UPS return label. Finally success! Toaster #3 is a keeper! PRO's: Attractive Design, Motorized Lift works great, KitchenAid Customer Service, Best Buy Customer Service CON's: Took 3 toasters to get one that toasts evenly...poor Quality Control at factory Toasters 1 and 2 would be rated 1 Star because of their performance. If one is fortunate to obtain a properly functioning toaster with the first purchase, I would rate this product with 5 Stars

We bought this because our old DeLonghi toaster for which we paid God only knows how much finally became utterly schizophrenic. Having just moved into a new house with all KitchenAid appliances, and seeing the price on this one being as low as it was (one of the cheapest toasters around), we figured what the hay, we'll try it out. It has been nothing short of the most accurate, predictable, and fully-featured toaster we've ever had. The only change I'd make is to get a four-holer, but that's not much of a complaint. This thing is better than awesome sauce! (P.S. I'm writing this review nearly a year after putting it into service - it's still just like the day we bought it!)
