At first I did not like it as the detergent packet did not disolve but ended up in the bottom of the dishwasher with the dishes dirty. You have to watch not to put things in front of the detergent door that blocks it from opening!!! Since then I have found that it will take off really tough dried on food. Love the 3rd rack. It is quiet and I am glad that it uses hot water to rinse and heat to dry. The glasses really sparkle with the rinse solution that I use. No spotting.

In looking for a dishwasher we had four criteria: reliability, quietness, loading versatility, and cleaning ability, although since we mostly pre-wash the last was a lesser concern. At first we were drawn to a brand or two with multiple adjustable rack systems, but when we tried some of our own bowls (yes, we took a couple of bowls with us when shopping!), they actually fit best in the KitchenAid. It also had less complaints about reliability issues in the reviews we read, so that made our decision. We haven't regretted it. The first run, in which the unit is making several self-adjustments, was a bit noisier than we were expecting, but since then it has been extremely quiet. That is a welcome improvement in our open floor plan house. The third (upper) rack has limited usefulness. You can rotate the plastic trays in it 90 degrees which makes them a bit lower, thus enabling them to hold more. However, if you do, you must lower the middle rack, and then there is not enough room for full size plates on the bottom rack. We nonetheless like the top rack for plastic utensils. Newer dishwashers (and washing machines) consistently use less water and more time; it is no big deal. We have had no drying or spotting issues. We do used a rinse aid as recommended. Since we've only had the unit a month we cannot speak to its reliability, but at this point we would highly recommended it.

I have only had this machine for about 2 weeks, but so far so good. It gets things clean. It runs quietly. The only maddening thing, but it's not unique to this machine, is that the new normal for energy efficiency is that the darn cycle lasts freakin' forEVER!! No more just popping the dishes in for a quick wash prior to company coming over.

Customers recognize the Architect Series II 24" Built-in Dishwasher's excellent cleaning performance and quiet operation as major strengths. The convenient third rack and ample capacity are also frequently praised features, contributing to ease of use. However, some users find the cycle time to be a bit lengthy.
