I was upgrading our surround system as far as the tv (which we purchased the LG OLED EF9500) and the receiver. We had a 6 year old setup with a Denon 2808CI receiver. This Marantz was my choice between it and the Denon AVR X6200W which both were the exact same price. I think ultimately, I went with Marantz as I had a Marantz receiver in the early 1980's and it's a bit nostalgic for me and at the same time was the choice picked between those two by 3 different Magnolia Design Center stores I went to. The sound is great (I've got it setup with 7.1 system and a zone two pushing 4 patio speakers outside). The Marantz online app is just okay but there are other companies that make apps that work on the Marantz and will control a lot of components in my system. I like the fact the airplay wireless built in to the Marantz makes it very easy to stream music when I'm listening to Apple Music via my Iphone and I can play it in each zone independently or just the zone I choose. From what people told me when I set out to buy a receiver is that Marantz will cost a bit more than one from a competing company but they are built solid and sound great for both home theater AND music…a lot of punch in my music using this Marantz 7010

So I spent about 6 months reviewing receivers. The tops on my list the integra ad 60.6 this one seems to be the best reviewed. Unfortunately Best Buy does not carry this item. Next on my list was the Marantz. I was able to get 10% off plus it was an open box clearance. So price was great. Most importantly was the fact that BB has 0% apr for 24 months in home theater for purchases of $899 or more. Sold. The item is top notch and drives my 300 watt definitive tech 8060 towers with no problem and has support for 2 zones. I paired this with a switch 1 hdmi in and 8 out and I have a signal through the whole house now. Dts x and atmos along with an upgrade for arou 3D sound scape and bam ready to roll. Still haven't bought the record player yet but I'm eyeing it. Vinyl is important to me also. Very loud and exceptionally clear highly recommend
