I was due for replacing my walkie talkies, since the last time I bought some was about 3 years earlier. The range is definitely better. Ease of use is pretty much the same. Motorola has kept things pretty standard between generations so it's simple to use and straightforward. I purchased these for a roadtrip and I wasn't disappointed. The rechargeable batteries are a nice plus. You can get a good 12 hours + out of one charge.

In suburban neighborhood testing I was able to use it reliably about quarter mile away or about 2 blocks. With the chirp function you can get 1/3 of a mile. Indoors, at a stadium or a park, including the wilderness it goes much farther. I can imagine when used handfree that's it's useful for businesses. Overall though in it's price range its one of the better built units. It feels far more expensive and uses soft touch buttons wisely. It's plenty loud, can be used even as a baby intercom, and you can use alkaline batteries. Amazing value for what you get these days.

Good replacement for my old Motorola talk about radios. However at first glance the material doesn't feel as durable. Has superior range compared to similar products. Flashlight comes in handy however infrequently I may need it. Weather radio is useful but would like an alert tone for extreme weather warnings. Battery lasts a day or more with use and 2ish days on standby. A great product I would purchase again.
