I was due for replacing my walkie talkies, since the last time I bought some was about 3 years earlier. The range is definitely better. Ease of use is pretty much the same. Motorola has kept things pretty standard between generations so it's simple to use and straightforward. I purchased these for a roadtrip and I wasn't disappointed. The rechargeable batteries are a nice plus. You can get a good 12 hours + out of one charge.

In suburban neighborhood testing I was able to use it reliably about quarter mile away or about 2 blocks. With the chirp function you can get 1/3 of a mile. Indoors, at a stadium or a park, including the wilderness it goes much farther. I can imagine when used handfree that's it's useful for businesses. Overall though in it's price range its one of the better built units. It feels far more expensive and uses soft touch buttons wisely. It's plenty loud, can be used even as a baby intercom, and you can use alkaline batteries. Amazing value for what you get these days.

Good replacement for my old Motorola talk about radios. However at first glance the material doesn't feel as durable. Has superior range compared to similar products. Flashlight comes in handy however infrequently I may need it. Weather radio is useful but would like an alert tone for extreme weather warnings. Battery lasts a day or more with use and 2ish days on standby. A great product I would purchase again.

We used this item on our trip from AZ to WA. Good for distance, but sound was sometimes a little garbled, and the volume could have been better. Overall, a good product.

I bought these three years ago when my daughter started Kindergarten. Her bus stop is about 2 1/2 blocks from our home and this was the next best thing to actually walking with her each day to and from her bus stop (because "big girls" can walk by themselves don't ya know?). So they have been used pretty much daily for the past three years and she formed a most excellent habit of always putting her radio back onto the charger when she got home. Unfortunately, she ended up losing one the last week of second grade (this past May). We suspect it was stolen out of her backpack at school but don't know for sure. So I just ordered another pair which works out great anyhow since our youngest son will be starting Kindergarten this August. Now they will each have their walkie-talkies to carry while walking to the bus together (you know how little brothers are about wanting everything their older siblings have, ha-ha). We also used them frequently when the kids were down the street playing at the neighbor's house (especially in the backyard). Instead of yelling down the street when it was time for them to come home, I would just push the alert button and they would be home within a few minutes. Or they would "call" me and ask to stay a little longer. :-) So far, we haven't pushed them past their range limit and have always had decent to excellent reception with little to no interference. They have DEFINITELY been dropped, jostled around in backpacks, and handled roughly without any problems. For sure durable. What REALLY makes these worth the $ to us is not only do we use them constantly but that our younger kids don't feel so left out because our older kids have cell phones. Having these radios for them to carry around while playing outside with their friends is the next best thing to them having their own cell phones and of course it helps with my peace of mind knowing I can "call" them or they can "call" me (just like a cell phone - in a way). I really wish I had thought about getting these when our older kids were little. When the new ones arrive, I am going to let my son and daughter "decorate" them stickers and such. My daughter wants "bling" on hers, lol. Lastly, because we always keep the radios on the charger when they aren't being used, I am able to keep one on for weather alerts on days we are having or expecting any kind of bad weather (tornado or blizzard warnings in particular since we live in the Midwest). So even when the kids aren't using them, sometimes I am. :-) I honestly cannot think of anything negative to say about these radios. Amazon has the lowest price I could find, as usual, which Best Buy matched without any problems. These have been one of the best buys for our family without a doubt.

Solid product, works great, even indoors in large buildings with multiple rooms. I use them for managing rings at a martial arts tournament, and we are able to easily communicate between rings, to tournament coordinator, to other rooms (holding, warmup), and even out into the parking lot. Usually a building with lots of rooms, structure, steel, concrete, tends to radically decrease range. These units had no problem whatsoever.

This saves me at least one employee because I give one to every employee and we are next to each other all the time even when they go buy lunch three blocks from work. It has 20 ring tones so evey one has its own. You can choose the channel that has no interference among several channels. And the best when the original batteries die you can buy AA rechargables batteries and they will fit perfectly and work for two or three days depending on the use.

These worked very well...really came in handy! We stayed at a resort that was rather large, so we used them to keep in touch with the rest of our group as we were in different buildings.

Good radios and the multiple channels come in handy since these are used in a factory environment. Only reason I didn't give them five stars is the setup instruction aren't extremely clear and the print was somewhat hard to read..

Bought these walkie talkies to take on a cruise. They worked better than expected. I was able to contact my wife on the other end of the cruise ship and was also able contact her when she was in a town that was walking distance from the ship. Charging the units was very simple. Recommend these 2-way radios without question.

They were reasonably priced, but absolutely no way these radios reach rated distance. Used them for a recent cross country trip & they started getting a little be challenged at the 1 mile range. If staying in close proximity, they are OK, but don't expect to reach very far. I likely will use them on a small piece of hunting property that we frequent to stay in contact between blinds, but not commercial grade for sure.

Work fine, had some signal bleed over on one channel but nothing bad. Survived a drop from a ladder onto tile floor with no visible damage. The belt clip stinks for one handed operation though.
