I would not recommend anything less than an 8-port switch, this allows 1 port in and 7-ports out. In my home office I have 3 computers, a 4K TV, a Roku, and a printer, this takes 6-ports leaving 1-port for company. I have had no lag or issues while using the office or on any of the other devices running in the rest of the house. Manage up to 7 computers in a SOHO network with this NETGEAR 300 Series Unmanaged GS308100PAS Gigabit switch.

New Internet provider = new home network Needed more ports because I bought more stuff. Have a single port in the room and that was just fine. Then more things got added to each room, then I got a new Internet provider so things were faster, and these do a great job making sure that all of the computers, TiVos, and smart TVs have all the conductivity they need.

This switch is solid metal and a pretty good bargain on sale, and actually cheaper than the plastic switches. I have a few older versions I've used for years now and have had no issues at all. If you see one on sale, buy it. Way better than the lightweight plastic switches that tend to fail after a few years due to poor heat dispersion.
