Got this to replace a previous humidifier. I've owned cold and hot models. This unit is whisper quiet. I mean whisper quiet. It does a great job especially in small to medium sized rooms. The silver in the tank greatly reduces the bacterial slime I've had in other units over the years. I'm extremely happy with this unit. The only con is that if you put this on high and put it directly on the floor or on a table it will create a misty covering of water on the surface immediately next to it. I put it in a tray with a towel and that helps.

I needed to replace a broken bedroom humidifier, fast. The PureGuardian seemed like the best choice of the available options. It has a decent tank size that lasts me for two days between refills. It is quiet, and I like the fact that it both shows the relative humidity and allows you to control it by setting a desired relative humidity. I haven't run across any negatives yet.

Great humidifier, lots of settings. 3 levels of mist and includes a humidistat for setting a max level of humidity. Once that level of humidity is reached the machine stops until the level drops enough and then starts up again. Includes a very nice soft blue night light that lights up the water tank. this can be switched off. My only complaint is that the tank is a little awkward to put on the base when it is full.
