Eero recommends vertical and I bought a rotating plug because I also have a horizontal plug I wanted to use. However, I plugging it in horizontal and it has been working just fine for a few months. There is a chance it could impact coverage because of the way the mesh spreads signals, but I have seen no issue (and the performance of the system is WAY better than my old wifi router)
