• It can. However, most iPhones default to over-the-air data transfer via AirDrop, email, or Messages. So, you don't need a cable for transferring data.

• I would think so. I haven’t tried it yet. I have only used it in my car USB plug-in for Apple Play. It worked instantly with no issues.
