We "cut the cord" from Dish several years ago and have a whole home DVR setup for local channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, PBS, etc). We determined that 80% of what we were watching was the regular network stations anyway. The other 20% could be watched from Netflix or streaming from the internet. Our whole home DVR consists of a terrestrial antenna in the attic, a Windows 7 PC and Media Center Extenders (MCE). The MCE's that we have been using are Linksys DMA2100's that are over 7 years old and freeze up and experience issues from time-to-time. When I researched new MCE's, I found that there were basically two options available: Ceton Echo or XBOX 360. (I found that Microsoft does not offer the MCE functionality on the XBOX One.) Since the Ceton Echo and XBOX 360 were about the same price when I was shopping around, I decided to go with the XBOX 360 E 4GB. After having the XBOX 360 for several months now, I can honestly say that it was definitely the right choice for us. It fulfills the role of an MCE and it also allowed my son to start playing Halo, which made him extremely happy. If you are looking for a Media Center Extender, I would highly recommend an XBOX 360.

    Great Gaming System

Well, what is there to say about the xbox 360? It has been around for many years and although I have upgraded to the xbox one, I still have an xbox 360. It is a great gaming console, very large library of games and with xbox live you get 2 free full games each month to download and play. I would recommend buying a larger hardrive in order to store your games you download for free each month as they will take up at least 5 to 7 gb of storage. If you are unable to afford an xbox one right now then the xbox 360 is still a great gaming system and you can buy games at a fraction of the cost. There will not be too many more new games coming out for the 360 platform as microsoft would prefer to have you buy an xbox one, but there are thousands of games already available and more than enough to keep you gaming for a long time. Also when you do upgrade to an xbox one, your xbox live account that is used on the 360 will also work on the xbox one and your gamer score and achievements will transfer over.

    Known issues that Microsoft ignores

Be careful with any Xbox 360. I got burnt twice. Go to the Xbox page and you will see in the forums that the Hard Drives tend to die when applying the mandatory software updates. Microsoft doesn't offer help and thousands of people just go to the forums to try to get help, only to see that nobody answers their questions. When I contacted them, they asked me to send my Xbox at a cost of $100. It takes them about a month to fix it, and it breaks again in 6 months (warranty on the repairs only 3 months). No matter what you try to say or do they will not help you. They'll just send you around and around and everybody will claim they have no power to help you. You just need to pay again, and send your console for another repair at another $100. I have paid twice, now I just want to get ride of it. I have over $800 worth of games and accessories for sale. I am trying something that is not Microsoft. Something that if it breaks, they are willing to own up and share on the cost of fixing it, not just profiting from it.

It may not be the system itself, but instead, the game being played on it, which requires a lot of horsepower apparently, and ruined my previous system. Based on online searches, Microsoft seems to take no accountability in the issue. I have a fan blowing over the top exhaust to draw hot air out of the new system, which seems to work. My last Xbox 360 worked for a year and a half, then stopped working altogether due to the inability to play a single Xbox game. If this more recently purchased system doesn't work very long, I'll never buy Microsoft gaming products again.

My older xbox 360 with a 250g hard drive went bad and it wasn't under warranty anymore, so I bought this and popped in my 250g hard drive (slot is on the side) from my previous console and it worked great...just make sure the drive is pushed in completely...and all saved games and app logins are available as if nothing happened. I can't speak for stuff saved to the cloud since I don't use it on the 360. The 4g hard drive is internal so the hard drive slot was empty and ready for use.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old son and my partner & they LOVE it!!! The only downfall is that I didn't know what GB's were and now that I'm starting to play around with the Xbox, I'll need to buy a Hard drive for memory for All of us to enjoy. Other than that, no problems with our system & this Mom has now also grown fond of the Xbox as well.

If you're looking to update / upgrade/ or simply buy new, the Slim E version is the way to go. It's much quieter than regular Xbox 360 slim and seems to run much cooler even after extended / continuous use (6+ hours). As Microsoft indicated, the new design mimics that of what the Xbox One looks like, so if you're like me and have both consoles ... they look great too!.

We purchased this to replace our old Xbox 360 that quit working. We got a great deal. We mainly use it for playing games and watching DVDs. I've heard it you are a big gamer u should go for the 500gb, but this is perfect for what we use/need it for. Also this console is smaller than the old one we had, which is nice and takes up less space.

This unit replaced our old Xbox360 S version. The smaller, sleeker design is better and setup was easy when moving our user accounts to the new unit. We are still pleased with this Xbox version because of its backwards compatibility. Definitely a good investment that the whole family can enjoy - especially with the Kinect.

I came to best buy because after comparing prices with target, toys r us , Fred myer, Walmart, and Sears Best buy by far had the very best price. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. I would definately recommend this store to my friends, family and my coworkers. I will be shopping here at best buy in the future.

The 360 was a great console, yet with next gen being more price competitive and graphics out matching the ability of the 360 I would only recommend getting this if you want to play some of the great games already made for the 360. Also good luck if you have to deal with Microsoft, worst customer service imaginable!

I'm just recently getting into gaming. I didn't want to spend a fortune on the new XBox or Play station. When I went to the store, the XBox 360 was a fraction of the price and the games are cheaper. This is a win win if you are just getting into gaming to see if you'll actually use it before spending a lot of money.

My daughter asked for this for Christmas to play Sims and a couple other games so she would hog up memory on her laptop top, it has proven to be very useful for Netflix as well. I am glad I spent the $ and got this for her, she and her friends have found many tv shows and movies to watch as well as play games.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas and it was exactly what she wanted. Its so much cheaper to buy a bundle, and this was the cheapest out of all the competitors I shopped. Even after a year, it is still going strong! No problems with the system or game at all!

The price was right to replace another Xbox 360 that was killed due to a Microsoft system update that went horribly wrong. Not a big fan of Xbox hardware though. Still think the Playstation 3 is a much better system than the Xbox 360. I'll only recommend for the price.

I was replacing an older xbox 360. This is sure a lot different. I works as is supposed to, i will be getting more memory but is working just fine for me right now. I do kind of wish it had a wired control, for when batteries die on the wirelees controler.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my kids (and for us too!) Kids live it for games and we love it for tv. We ditched our satellite shortly after buying this xbox because who wants to pay big bucks for tv when you can steam most anything anymore!

I purchased the system really only to play one game (and also for the Netflix capabilities), and am very pleased. I was concerned that a 4 GB system would not be adequate, but I have found that it works just fine. Overall, I am very happy with it!

We bought this due to the lower price and Peggle 2 being included. Unfortunately, when we tried to transfer data from an old Xbox 360, we found the 4GB wasn't enough. If you have games or data saved, you'd be better off going with more memory.
