Having not played a classic Mario side-scroller/platformer since I was a kid, this game has me feeling nostalgic yet up-to-date with everything it has to offer. It's been a lot of fun. I haven't completed it yet but whenever I get a chance to just relax and have the choice to watch tv or play for a bit, I boot this game up. I know it came out for Wii U years ago but the truth is, not nearly as many people bought the Wii U as much as the number of people that have purchased a Switch. So, in my opinion, Nintendo made a great decision to re-release this game for Switch so that we could get the chance to enjoy it and I gotta say that they hit the nail on the head.

A pretty fun game. If you grew up playing Mario 2d like myself on nes and snes (80s kid) then you should like this. It’s boat loads of fun, although I found it really frustrating to play with kids in multiplayer as it takes a lot of communication and working together. If someone decides to just run ahead it messes everyone up. So I definitely prefer single player. It’s a bit short, if you want Mario and 2d this is still fun but probably only worth it on a sale. I think I paid $39.99 for mine. If you want 2d Mario with tons of content then Mario maker 2 is awesome with never ending content as it’s community driven. Mario maker 2 just has a weak story but that’s not the point of it. This would be a 5 star from me if there was just a bit more content. I could probably beat this game in just a few hours. I’ve never played the wii version but I heard it’s essentially a 1:1 port. If you’re a Mario fan this game is worth it. I also feel the replay ability is high with Mario games.

I love these classic spins on Super Mario Bros. I know the ratings came out bad for these but I'm old school. I got an NES in the 80's so this really hits home for me on the nostalgia meter but also gives it a fresh spin. I played New Super Mario Bros. on the Wii as well and these games just don't get old. They are really fun to play multi-player as well. Gets a little chaotic on the screen with 4 players but that's part of the fun we never got on the originals where we had to take turns... No more arguing over who gets the first or second controller.

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this game, but it's basically the same Super Mario play style that people my age (30's) grew up playing on regular and super Nintendo, except better! What I like about it is that you can just simply beat a level, or you can beat it while also collecting all 3 stars. I thought multiplayer would make levels easier, but in a way, it actually makes it more of a challenge because you have to coordinate with the other player and try not to hit each other unexpectedly. Overall, it's a great challenging game with plenty of content.

This is basically a port of the Wii U version of this title. The graphics are better and it also contains Super Luigi, giving you 2 games in one, as opposed to having to buy 2 separate games. It’s a great multiplayer game as long as everyone works together as a team. If just one player tries to rush and move ahead of the other players, the game will proceed to either drag people off of ledges or crush them to death... :( That being said, it’s a good game and has players like nabbit and toadette whom are great characters for inexperienced players to use. 5* game.

I had the WiiU version of this and didn't play it much so this copy is more like a new game for me. I find myself playing games on the switch that I barely touched on WiiU. Overall a nice Mario Bros 2D platformer game which is my favorite Mario games. Lots of different power ups make for different game styles. Each level seems to follow a theme or gimmick which is nice for variety, but for me interrupts my flow having to adapt to the drastically different styles. For instance one level might be all about piranha plants but the next is all moving platforms, or crushing blocks. I'd prefer if the differences were not so abrupt. Not the hardest game for the longtime Mario player but it has its moments. Play can be adjusted easier by playing as Toadette or Nabbit. Getting all the giant coins in a level can be tricky, and there is a challenge mode for a few difficult moments. Differences between this and the WiiU version is playing as Toadette and Nabbit, as well as the 5th player WiiU pad support is removed. With 4 players someone has to play on easy mode as multiple toads is currently not supported even though you can change color to blue.

Similar to the original Wii super mario game it brings a lot of fun for the family and becomes a hectic game full of chaos when playing with 3 others, but that's the fun in it. The game does get hard like most super mario games but nothing too difficult to complete the game. All of the courses in the game make it a great value and worth playing multiple times over.

I love Super Mario Games in general but this one is pretty fun. I like that you can choose the difficulty and on the easier setting if you get stuck on a level you can choose for Luigi to pass it for you. Very similar to Classic Mario with an update and an excellent port of the Wii U game. I grew up playing Super Mario Bros and Super Mario World. This game follows that style.

If you played the new Super Mario Bros series, you know very much what you’re getting yourself into. It comes packed with the Wii U versions of New Super Mario Bros U and Luigi U. Over 160 courses and a lot of fun. If you never played these games before, you’ll have a blast playing a traditional 2D Mario game. If you played these games before, well it’s basically the same game repackaged for the Switch. That’s why it’s 4 out of 5 stars for me. It’s not a bad game by all means, but this title brings nothing new to the table. The great perk with this Switch version, the portability of this consoles allows you to play with one other friend in handheld mode (assuming you only have one pair of joy cons). Multiplayer on the go would be the biggest benefit getting this game. It’s a lot of fun regardless! I have a good time playing with friends and family!

I do admit this game should not be priced as high as it is but once you get playing with your family and friends, you'll forget all about how light your wallet is and lose yourself in the Mario fun. The new characters help bring a diverse mix of player types into the mix too, with an easy and easier mode built in.

Super fun game, if you like the classic side scroll-er Mario games. It has a couple unique things in the game, but it is just more of Super Mario Bros. Which I enjoy. I play this game specifically with my young kids 3 and 5 and while they struggle to make it through a round they enjoy playing with me and I can help them make it through each round.

Great classic game for the whole family! Only reason im leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I've spent $60 on this game pretty much 3 times now! We had it on the regular wii then again on the Wii U and now I've purchased it for a 3rd time on the Switch! Kind of lame they keep releasing the same exact game on every console for the same high price tag, with a couple minor changes! This latest one added a couple playable characters over the Wii U version but still the same exact game we played for years on the Wii U! Other than that it is a great game and highly recommend for a first time player! it would just be nice if Nintendo would stop milking us all with the practices they have when it comes to re releasing same exact titles on all these new consoles they come out with every couple years! I feel like this should be alot cheaper especially if you already have these games on your nintendo accounts from previous consoles!

Son picked it up after never playing any Mario games whatsoever, and he was immediately struck by the colorful worlds, bevy of secrets, and how I seemed to know so much about it - it firmly echoes and revamps the SMB games of old, including my personal fave, Super Mario World on SNES. The multiple characters offer something different to each player a la SMB 2 on NES, and it's just a refreshing reminder of the simple yet casual way Nintendo games can rope you in and keep you there with thoughtfully developed gameplay!

Having missed all of the previous iterations of the new Super Mario Bros series, I have been HOOKED by this one. I literally can’t stop playing. I got the game Friday and it is as fun alone as it is with friends. But I’m serious I can’t stop playing. I haven’t left the house and I might not if I don’t have to. This game is fun and more challenging than you’d think. The biggest challenge of all being not playing the game for any reason. Someone pls rip this console from my hands I have no self-control. PLEASE!
