I have a full ring alarm system and 6 cameras with 2 doorbells. I have recently added ring bulbs to my outdoor fixtures that turn on and off on a schedule. I have 2 of these units. One I use to put my pool filter on a schedule and to control the string lights in my backyard. The second I just bought to control my Christmas lights. These work great with Alexa as well.

Limited Hub options

This was not a problem, i have many smarthome items, and several available Hubs. However when i started setup, i discovered this device requires *specifically* the Ring Hub OR the newest Alexa. The NEWEST Alexa!? The Ring Doorbell and alarm system dont have these ridiculous requirements. I chose to return the plug.

The Ring Bridge is the central hub that integrates Ring smart lights, motion sensors, and transformers into your Ring system. The Ring Bridge connects to the Ring App using your home wifi network and connects to other Ring Smart Lighting products using a proprietary long-range communication protocol. Without the Ring bridge, Ring Smart Lights function only as standard motion-sensing lights. With a bridge, you can control whole groups of lights at once and be notified via the Ring App when any light or motion sensor senses movement. The Ring Outdoor Smart Plug allows you to make standard outdoor lighting and other outdoor devices smart, so you can control them from anywhere. With the Ring Outdoor Smart Plug, you can control your lighting from anywhere via the Ring app or a compatible Alexa-enabled device. With dual outlet control, you can set schedules and control devices plugged into each of the two available outlets separately via the app. A Ring Bridge is required to enable smart features and in-app controls.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. In the product feature description, it does inform you that this product needs a Ring Bridge in order to enable the smart controls for this device. No where in the main description does it say this. I received the product at my home and then the instructions said to link to a Ring Bridge. So I returned it.

Ring Outdoor Smart Plug

Believe it needs a Ring Bridge to work effectively. But the biggest issue is that the cord/plug that needs plugged into an actual outlet to work is only about 6-8 inches long. So it is very prohibitive if trying to mount it any distance from your actual outlet.
